Some Other Guy // Fabian & Dorcas
With the lighter expression on his face, Dorcas felt a little pressure lift off of her chest. At least he had some sort of humor still. "Of course they don't, they're not THAT thick," she replied, shaking her head slightly. "You would be shocked what they say in passing while walking to a meeting or eating their lunch, though. After a while, you catch enough pieces to put a decent picture together."
His question was weighted with unspoken concerns, and Dorcas truly felt sympathetic. "I don't know how long it's been since the last person came through, but I do know they don't believe it's finished. All of us died during the war, but we're not the only ones that did." She was sure she didn't have to remind him of that. "There's been no change in the magic levels around the veil, according to one of the aurors monitoring it. I'd say that's a good indicator that more will be joining us soon." She wasn't as sure as she sounded, but was hoping to give him some sort of peace.
The news was... less than exciting. Fabian frowned, narrowing his eyes at her. There was something inside him (the voices?) that told him Gideon was still on the other side of the veil and "soon" wasn't nearly good enough for him. He needed more solid data. Perhaps he shouldn't have expected her to know specifics but someone had to know the frequency of the events. The Ministry would be stupid not to look into it.
"That doesn't mean anything," he decided out loud. No change meant nothing different; nothing different meant no Gideon. Internally, he made another decision, he was going to have to go and see this veil for himself. He hadn't even seen the thing, despite (apparently) walking straight out of it, he deserved an eyeful. Of course, the Ministry wouldn't agree, he'd just have to find a way around that.
