Alien hybrids round 2
Iâll write a post later for the adoptions XD
Just 2 things: the ferengi/bajoran one is supposed to be Leeta and Româs daughter and the klingon/trill is Worf and Jadziaâs daughter too (someone told me it would be interesting and I had to draw it uwu)
I really enjoyed drawing these and Iâll draw more another day uwu. As always thank you for your ideas, you guys are the best! Hope you all like it ;)
Btw, if you want to âadoptâ one of them, just tell me and itâs yours (give them a name and a story⊠all of that <3)
My favourite is the vulcan/klingon hybrid. I bet sheâs super strong and disciplined (not all klingons are uncontrolled and violent for no reason) but very passionate and⊠kind of romantic.
I also have a problem with the cardassian/aenar one because aenars need cool weather, but cardassians need hot weather so ????
So since I am incapable of thinking of anything other than fake science, I'm wondering what other biological adaptations vulcans have besides their extra eyelid (which many desert creatures often have)
First of all, let's talk about that extra eyelid. This is called the nictitating membrane, also known as a haw, and is primarily used to blink away debris. Camels, who live in the desert, use these to ward off sand from sandstorms along with their thick double eyelashes. Usually this layer is semi-transparent so when they walk through a storm they can still see where they're going. This seems pretty straightforward- usually this layer would be hidden in Vulcans due to the fact that we don't usually see Vulcans in a setting where they would need to use it, but it might appear when they are asleep or falling asleep (like in cats and dogs!) Vulcans might also have thicker eyelashes, sealable nostrils, and thick hair to keep sand out.
The pointed ears of Vulcans could come from another adaptation used by desert animals to cool their blood. Think rabbits and mice: they have large ears that they circulate blood through to cool it in the air. So if a Vulcan seems to be blushing at the ears, they might actually just be cooling themselves off.
It is also mentioned that Vulcans can go a long time without eating or sleeping, which leads me to believe they have a naturally slow metabolism or at least control of how fast their metabolism is. This is also common in desert animals. (Speaking of delays, animals can put off reproductive functions until they feel safe, which might have been why Spock didn't experience pon farr until he felt safe with the crew of the enterprise, but thats another post.)
Some miscellaneous facts include: Vulcans might have a tough digestive system, similar to desert pigs who literally just eat cacti, spines and all; larger feet to prevent sinking into the sand; and sleep in a crepuscular cycle to avoid extreme heat in the middle of the day and cold in the middle of the night.
And to settle the Spock runs hot/spock runs cold argument, unless you headcanon Vulcans as cold blooded they would run hot. It takes more energy to remain cold in a desert than it does to remain hot in a desert, and lucky for you spirk fans, running hot would mean that Spock was probably cold all the time and would ask for Jim cuddles anyway.
Here is a bunch of sketches I made some month ago when I was planning to craft a TOS fanzine in Silk screen . But as my art school is closed and it was my last year I wonât be able to made it⊠too bad but okay
lmao the last one is a mix of tv show tos kirk and movie tos scotty nerding on the entreprise while bones is just âŠÂ ânerdsâ
Originals are available via the online shop ^_^ dm me if youâre interested and Iâll put them aside for ya ;)

I want to highlight that little bit about Spielberg. I read Drew Barrymoreâs auto biography - Little Girl Lost - and she talks about Spielberg a lot. He treated the kids on ET with sensitivity and respect, even joining them in a water fight once. She said that she was shocked when she made Firestarter and the director pulled stuff like not telling her and another child actor about a fake explosion so their screams would be real. Spielberg was careful about not overworking them and stopping if they seemed tired (especially Barrymore since she was only five at the time), but on the set of Firestarter she was perpetually exhausted . She also noticed while Spielberg looked her in the eye and really talked to her, the director of Firestarter completely ignored her and never made eye contact. She mentioned to another actress âI loved making ET, but I hate this.â The other actress told Barrymore âDoing a Spielberg movie ruins you for all other directors.â Spielberg became like surrogate father to Barrymore, and she spent a lot of time at his house with his family growing up. She said it was the only place she felt like she could be a kid. The set of ET was the only Hollywood experience where she was treated like a child and not a commodity.
What Iâm saying is, the crap pulled by the directors above is clearly unnecessary to make a fantastic movie.
Iâm surprised that James Cameron forcing the titanic actors to film in hypothetmjc temperatures so the shivering looked real isnât on here. Iirc Kate Winslet got pneumonia.
miss pauling with short hair............
i like to think that prereform vulcan would have been quite tribal and therefore less culturally homogeneous. so i wonder - which preferences/traditions would be unique to particular tribes? and which universal? like, did they all have a taste for tacky jewelry and impractical weapons and thatâs why those things survived the reform?
Tâpringâs pre reform tattoos sayÂ
lam-tor naânash-veh = I stand for myself
tikopah = independence
tizhâes = enjoyment
Fic idea I was struck with the other day and keep thinking about: a Vulcan adopts a cat.
Still thinking about this, even though Iâm not writing the fic!
This Vulcan, Iâm calling her TâPen, goes to a shelter and gets a cat, and the shelter employees are like, a bit weirded out? But obviously theyâre going to give her a cat, I mean, sheâs a Vulcan, sheâs Super Responsible, she takes all the pamphlets and listens attentively to all the advice the shelter employees give her, even though it is obvious she researched a lot on her own.
Then TâPen asks the shelter folks what she should name the cat and runs into That Thing Humans Do Where They Confound a Vulcan With Their Weird Ways
Shelter Employee 1: oh, you can name a cat anything! Thatâs whatâs great! People names, common nouns, whole phrases.
Shelter Employee 2: yeah, nothing sounds weird on a cat. Everything from Chad to Cupboard is fair game.
SE 1: yeah, I mean, you canât call a dog Chad, that would be weird
SE 2: I wouldnât fuckinâ trust anyone who named their dog Chad
SE 1: oh word
TâPen:âŠ.
TâPen: âŠ.fascinating.
Later, in the interest of furthering her anthropological study of Earth, TâPen has a houseparty and she invites her coworkers, many of whom are human, but others which are aliens, and are fascinated by TâPenâs cat
Vulcan Co-worker: TâPen, what have you named this small Earth feline?
TâPen: I have named him Marmalade.
Vucan co-worker: Is that not the name of a type of Terran fruit preserve? I do not understand the logic behind this choice.
TâPen: the logic is self-evident to a human.
Human Co-worker: TâPen, omg, you have a cat! Whatâs his name?
TâPen: thank you for your inquiry. His name is Marmalade
Human Co-worker: oooh! yeah, that makes sense, because heâs orange and sweet! lmao, great name
Vulcan Co-worker: âŠ
Vulcan Co-worker: âŠ.fascinating
Human: So, howâs Marmalade?
TâPen: He has the peculiar habit of walking on my workstation.
Human: Aggravating, isnât it?
TâPen: We Vulcans do not feel human emotions. However, I would prefer it if Marmalade stayed off my workstation, particularly when I am working.
Human: Get a box.
TâPen: Murdering Marmalade seems an overreaction.
Human: No, you need a box with interior dimensions approximately the same as Marmaladeâs body, and set it on the floor next to your workstation. Marmalade will sit in the box.
TâPen: Why do you believe that this will work for Marmalade?
Human: We donât know. Itâs just something cats do. If he fits, he sits.
TâPen: ⊠Fascinating.
Vulcan Commander: TâPen, you are posting videos of your cat. Explain.
Tâpen: My colleagues are amused and entertained by Marmaladeâs interactions with his environment. I am amused and entertained by their reactions as reflected in the comments.
Vulcan Commander (reading):Â âU haz done me a startleâ?
TâPen: Some of them like to verbalize what they believe are Marmaladeâs thought processes. He is a cat, so they imagine that he does not grasp human spelling and grammar.
Vulcan Commander: ⊠Fascinating. As you were. (signs off)
TâPen (returning to her meal): Now I can haz lunch.
A Star Trek idea: A comedy sitcom where instead of a Vulcan on a mostly human ship it is a human on a mostly Vulcan ship
All the Vulcans are fiercely protective of the âfragile, illogical, prone-to-danger, smart, reckless little humanâ.
To make the human feel more accepted (as it is only logical) the Vulcans try to include aspects of terran culture in the shipâs day-to-day life, failing spectacularly at it.
The human loves them even more for it.
Theyâll get better at celebrating the humanâs birthday next year. Itâs the thought that counts.
@jvlianbashirâ THATâS A GOOD END TO THAT EPISODE THOUGH⊠the vulcans put together awful, bland decorations. they make a cake because itâs of âsignificant importanceâ. they go through the process of putting together this party and Studying this Human Ritual and the entire episode is setting up to what you KNOW will be a horrible result. they do a bad job!! then when the humanâs birthday comes, and they reveal the off-the-mark, underwhelming looking birthday bash, the human just. starts crying. because they had no idea their crew would go through all this trouble to celebrate their birthday, and even put up DECORATIONS, or make a CAKE, and thereâs a birthday card with extremely polite impersonal messages written and a hundred perfectly tidy signatures. and the vulcans are just standing around like âyou appear upset. the Birthday Party was unsatisfactoryâ.
The human opens twenty presents wrapped in identical, perfectly creased beige paper. Theyâre all extra batteries or charging cables for the humanâs communicator because they went planetside ONE TIME and lost communications.
The human hugs the nearest four vulcans.
They DO care.
K/S is canon
Here are some moments that just donât make sense otherwise.
1x10Â âThe Corbomite Maneuverâ
If Spock bashfully drops his gaze, it means you just flirted with him.
1x13Â âThe Conscience of the Kingâ
MCCOY: Did it ever occur to you that he simply might like the girl?Â
SPOCK: It occurred. I dismissed it.Â
Spock himself has said, âInsufficient facts always invite danger.â How could he dismiss it with absolute certainty? Think about it.
3x04Â âAnd the Children Shall Leadâ
Spock calmly allows Kirk to cling to him during a meltdown in the turbo lift and doesnât even flinch or move away even though their faces are inches from each other. Way above the call of duty for a first officer and even a âfriend.â
3x01Â âSpockâs Brainâ
KIRK: Spock, is that you?Â
SPOCK: Captain? Captain Kirk?Â
KIRK: Yes, Spock. Yes.Â
SPOCK: Captain, there is a definite pleasurable experience connected with the hearing of your voice.
1x08Â âMiriâ
SPOCK: I am a carrier. Whatever happens, I canât go back to the ship, and I do want to go back to the shipâŠâŠ.. Captain.Â
KIRK: Of course, Mister SpockâŠâŠâŠ
The way Spock pauses and says âCaptain,â and they stare into each otherâs eyes like theyâre sharing a private joke like no one else knows theyâre ravaging each other between shifts. Honestly, just quoting it doesnât do it justice you need to just watch it.
ST: TMP
Self-explanatory.

If you still think their relationship is platonic after this, I canât help you. You need a professional at this point.
