there must be a word for this
when you wake up and the dream is vivid and then the day progresses and your head gets full of other things and the dream becomes more of what it’s meant to (vapid, disturbing the boundaries of conscious/subconscious) and less of an association to any tangible thought. so that moment when your dream dies and it’s no longer relevant because it can’t be recalled; sadness, relief, despair, frustration? does any of it linger? sometimes all that is left for me are colors...i can always remember color.

i think our coping mechanisms to being alive are fascinating. they change and evolve and get set back so frequently, with such ease, that it truly can be hard to determine which version of ourself is the most authentic, the most genuine. we’re all in us, every single part. it goes on.
