Crossroads

You stand at the crossroad

With the one whose fruit you are

The fruit of her womb wondering.

Which way to go?

Which will be better?

Which will be safer?

Which will bring you wisdom?

Which will bring love and joy?

Mother you ask

Which way shall we go?

To the left?

To the right?

Straight ahead?

Or back the way we have come?

Your tree of life says

To the left trouble

To the right struggle

Straight ahead that leads to loneliness

Or back the way we came is pain.

Let us worship

Let us pray

Let us choose

He is way, the truth and your life.

I knew you betrayed me before you said it

By the dismissive “whatever”

By the indifferent “I don’t care”

By the impatient “Can I go now”.

I knew it by the way you wept

Soft sobs of desperation

Unceasing tears

Sadness when we should have joy.

I knew it by the way you looked at me

By the way you frowned

By the empty stare

Right through me.

I knew it by the way we walked

Not hand in hand

Not with us

Not beside me

I knew it by the way you talked at me

Deafness

Desperation

Denial

I knew it by the silence between us

Long, cold, Abandoned and lost

When you confessed, I would forgive.

It is finished.

The beginning

To begin you need an idea for a middle and an end

Which is why it’s hard to begin.
