“Are you serious? He broke up with you over fucking text?”
“Deadly serious,” Fletcher confirmed with a nod, brows raised. “I mean, it wasn’t the first time it happened. But, y’know, I literally rented out an entire McDonalds. Paid them to close it and everything. He’d told me his favourite food was McDonalds nuggets so many times, I thought he’d appreciate it. Obviously not.”

“I think those girls are CHECKING you out,” Vicky said, her hair tied up in a messy bun, no makeup caking her face and sporting a tank top and leggings – typically, she could be in and out of the smoothie shop without really getting noticed, but of course, whenever celebrities took to the streets together, it became hard to miss. “I BET it’s the Irish accent,” she mused, sipping on her berry smoothie as she spoke softly to her cast mate, whom she simply wanted to catch up with.
At Vicky’s words, Fletcher resisted the urge to groan. Instead, he opted for a wave and his signature dimpled grin in the direction of the aforementioned girls. It had been a little while since he’d left the hospital after the earthquake, and people seemed more keen than ever to catch him out and about. He clocked their reaction at his smile, the typical flushed cheeks and bashful smiles, before turning his attention back to his friend. “It’s sweet really, I guess. Though, I’ve never understood the obsession with my accent. You’d be surprised how many people have no idea that I’m Irish.” He took a sip of his own smoothie, some concoction of varying fruits creating the tropical, orange-yellow colored drink.

After the aftermath of the earthquake had cooled down, Gabe had found himself, yet again sitting at his studio desk – but this time, instead of tapping away at his keyboard, he was just STARING. His eyes glancing from his casted forearm to the screen in front of him, trying to hold back tears. But of course, he had a job to do: the entire studio was counting on him, for The Severance was one of the few shows that was still supposed to be released soon, as it was in post-production. He was LUCKY that the earthquake had chosen to punish his left arm instead of his right. At least he could still drag and drop, still able to somewhat function on a computer. If he could just get through this stretch of days … he could go to the recording studio and conduct with no problem. While it hurt him to know that he would have to find another pianist to play the part where he would usually play it himself, Gabe knew it wasn’t the END of the world.
His eyes, that had been locked on the screen for hours, began to ache; it seemed a good time to take a bit of a break, maybe take a shower to get his mind off of things for a bit. Heading over to his room across the loft apartment, he STRUGGLED to take his shirt off, the thick cast causing problems to get through the armholes. He was just about to turn on the water when he heard knocking at his door. He looked down at himself – a mess at best, his shorts and basketball socks were the only thing covering his body, save his cast. He glanced over at the shirt he had just had a row with and rolled his eyes, not wanting to go through the trouble of putting on and taking that thing off again. Instead, Gabe just headed to the door, with no idea who he’d see on the other side. Of course, it had to be Fletcher – the smiley, happy, unbelievably ATTRACTIVE guy that was probably the last person that Gabe wanted to see, at least looking like this. “Hey,” was all he started with, suddenly feeling incredibly embarrassed to not be wearing a shirt. “Sorry, I uh … I was just about to take a shower. But come on in, make yourself at home,” he said, opening the door more to invite Fletcher in while trying to HIDE the grin on his face. God, he should have cleaned up a bit; not only was he now worried as to what Fletcher would think of him, but also of what the actor thought of his own apartment.
The week that Fletcher had spent in hospital - well, six days, to be accurate - had felt like forever. He swore he’d never been so damn bored in his entire twenty-five years of existence. Nurses and doctors in and out routinely to poke and prod at him, wounds being cleaned regularly, staring up at the same fucking ceiling day-in-day out. There’d been a few people that’d made his time at the hospital MARGINALLY less torturous when they visited, though, a certain composer included. That was why, after taking a quick trip home to his own apartment to clean himself up a little, Fletcher had taken the liberty to pick up a pizza and make his way over to the address Gabe had typed into his phone, accompanied by the BEAUTIFUL selfie that never failed to amuse him. It was the least he could do, all things considered, not to mention that he had pretty much promised to take pizza round at some point. Maybe, just maybe, there was a part of him that was just using that as an excuse to go and see Gabe, and make sure he was okay, though Fletcher probably wouldn’t willingly admit that to himself.
Pizza box in one hand, Fletcher raised his other to knock at the door lightly. Suddenly self-conscious, he brushed a hand gently over his shirt to smooth out any creases, and then moved the same hand back through his hair which, admittedly, was a little less rainbow than he’d like. It was due to be dyed again but, naturally, he’d had other priorities of late. As the door opened, his signature Gabe-smile tugged at the corners of his lips, evidently GLAD to see the taller male. “Hi,” he greeted, before noticing that the other was shirtless. His gaze lingered over a toned torso briefly, before he grew aware that he was staring, and quickly averted his gaze back up to meet Gabe’s. “Shit, sorry. I have this AMAZING skill that I like to call ‘Fletcher-Always-Shows-Up-At-Bad-Times’,” he chuckled sheepishly, stepping past Gabe and into the apartment. He quickly glanced around the apartment, arching a brow and nodding, almost in approval. “So, my friend said he was gonna bring pizza for you but he couldn’t make it so here I am instead. It’s freshly made and pretty hot though, so uh... Y’know, feel free to shower or whatever if you wanna, while it cools,” he suggested, turning back to face Gabe, entirely OBLIVIOUS to the grin that’d been on the other’s face. The pizza was hot enough that it was actually burning his hand through the box a little, and he had to switch hands. He lapsed into silence for a moment, shifting his weight from one foot to the other as though carefully contemplating his next words. “How uh... How are you? How’ve you been doing?”
first. he touches you and you light on fire. your wrist blazes where his fingers meet your skin. the burns don’t show, but it’s hard to breathe with ash in your lungs. it’s so hard to breathe. you’re suffocating daily. second. it hurts to watch him. he shines. he’s brighter than the sun, he’s too beautiful for your eyes. it’s hard to look at him. it’s even harder to look away from him. you’re going blind. third. your ears are tuned to his voice. you could pick him out in a sea of thousands. his voice makes pretty singers who sing pretty songs sound dull. his voice makes everything else sound ugly. fourth. the color of his eyes is blue enough to drown in. he is turning you into a clichéd love-wrecked being. you’re drowning, always sinking. down, down, down. fifth. you know him. you love him. through a thousand lifetimes, across millions of stars, you’d find him, you’d never leave him. you love him, till death do you part. ( sixth. he loves you, too. )
five things you know and the one thing you don’t. 19/09/14 (via eposetties)

What was he doing? Every time he looked at Fletcher, Gabe asked himself why the HELL he would be diving into, should he actually become the guy’s friend, or possibly more than that. He couldn’t think about it, how one of their very first encounters at a public coffee shop had already overwhelmed him. Sure, he lived in Hollywood, but he was never the subject of cameras or flashing lights, paparazzi or fans. Fletcher was smack-dab in the MIDDLE of it, being one of the most famous faces of Zenith Studios. He didn’t want to jump into that lifestyle, didn’t want to leave his life of anonymity. Gabe was a quiet, introverted guy, who liked solace – there was no surprise there. So why was the excited, famous Fletcher McAvoy so ENTICING to him? Generally, the thoughts boiled down to the fact that Gabe thought there was no chance in hell that the actor would actually give more than two shits about him, but lately … maybe there was something there. He couldn’t tell, his inexperienced mind running CIRCLES around the miles of possibilities. Fletcher was exciting, he was unpredictable, he was genuine, he was a gift that someone thought to drop into his life, but Gabe felt like he was expected to return it. “Actually, I was actually sent to snag pics of you in a hospital gown. For science, you know,” he smiled, for a moment feeding into the humor that had arose.
Gabe managed a small chuckle as he nodded in agreement with the actor’s statement. “I know the feeling,” he said, lifting his injured arm only a centimeter from his lap, not wanting to strain it or endure any more pain that he was already going through. His eyes were almost SCARED, nervous to look up at Fletcher, for he could almost feel the actor’s brown eyes staring right at him. Slowly, he lifted them, and instead of reaching for eye contact, he surveyed Fletcher’s body, lying helplessly on the hospital bed. It saddened him; Gabe had always envisioned him jamming out to rock songs over-dramatically, air-guitaring, or doing something hilariously and unapologetically Fletcher-levels of happiness. He was surprised to see that he hadn’t pulled his hand away. It made Gabe almost pull back in ASTONISHMENT – that his own signs of affection were not being turned away – but instead, his thumb rubbed gently against Fletcher’s, wanting to remain in some sort of contact with the guy, especially as he spoke of his true state of being. Gabe’s head fell; hearing all his confessions of weakness made Gabe’s heart melt, not only because he was seeing a new side of Fletcher, but because he felt it, too. “I … I’m …” he started, taking a breath to hold back a sniffle. “I’m scared, too.” He was almost surprised that he had admitted that himself, but Fletcher’s own bravery had inspired him to be open as well. “I’m scared that I’m not going to be able to play. At least for a while … but, but they’re COUNTING on me, you know? The pilot is supposed to be released soon, and I’m not completely happy with all my scores, and we still have to record with the orchestra and …” his voice trailed off, not wanting to pile more on top of the list of worries he had already constructed. “No,” he responded quickly, shaking his head. “I mean, I’ll go if you want me to, if that’s what you’re asking. I don’t want to bother you.”
The mere presence of the taller male came as a comfort to Fletcher; a sort of reminder that he wasn’t alone and he didn’t have to freak out and WORRY about being on his own through his fears. Of course he knew that there were people who, if he asked them to, would come and visit him, but the fact that Gabe - a guy who Fletcher had only met fairly recently and was sure would, on paper, hate him - was willing to sit by his bedside and offer him reassurance and comfort about his present situation. He couldn’t explain it, the way they’d almost instantaneously got along, but part of him didn’t really want to explain it. Ordinarily, he’d love to dissect the situation and figure out the hows and the whys, but this was different. It felt more natural and WHOLESOME, and he didn’t want to tarnish that by reading into the reasoning and logic behind everything. He’d found a friend - possibly more - in the composer, and that was what really mattered in all of this. He breathed a chuckle at Gabe’s words, shaking his head a little. “Damn, don’t do that. If the bosses get hold of that and see me looking like this, they’ll be replacing me with someone else,” he half-joked, though he was well aware that he hardly looked his best.
He watched as Gabe lifted his arm slightly, and noticed the way his gaze moved over him rather than making eye contact. It almost made him feel self conscious about his current state; cuts and bruises on his face, arms and legs, rainbow hair sticking up at all angles and clinging to his forehead, arms and hands shaking a little from the pain. His glasses had broken, the frames set aside on top of a cabinet by his bed, though his eyesight wasn’t all that bad without them. He felt drained, EXHAUSTED after everything but he was still determined to force a smile because he was Fletcher McAvoy, and he always at least attempted a smile. His forced smile relaxed into a genuine one though, as he felt Gabe’s thumb brushing against his skin. He was a little unsure as to why Gabe had taken to holding his hand but he wasn’t about to complain. It was a physical comfort to him and he visibly relaxed in the bed. Hearing Gabe’s admission, Fletcher’s brows furrowed and he twisted himself slightly, moving to rest his other hand on top of their already joined hands. He GRIMACED at the pain that seared within him but forced himself to ignore it, needing to provide the other with the same comfort that he’d brought to Fletcher only moments before. “Hey, hey. Less of that, alright? It’ll...” He trailed off, unsure what to say. He couldn’t exactly promise anything; he didn’t know for certain. “I’m sure it’ll all be fine. And, y’know, if I can help in any way at all, you have to let me know, alright? I mean, sure I’m not a composer, but I can offer a listening ear and feedback if you ever need it.” He moved back to lay flat again, then, in favour of avoiding any additional, unnecessary pain in his torso. As soon as Gabe spoke again, though, he was quickly shaking his head in objection. “NO,” he blurted before the other could even finish speaking properly. “Please don’t go.” Brown eyes widened, almost pleading, and his grip on his hand may or may not have tightened a little. “I-I mean, if you want to go, then I’m not gonna stop you but uh...” He chuckled nervously, bringing one hand to push back through his hair. “I don’t particularly want you to go. You’re not bothering me at all. I like having you here, just as long as you don’t mind being here.”

if you could say anything to any of your exes, what would it be?
“Sayonara to every single one.”
what's the biggest mistake you've made in the past week?
“Getting up and going for a walk in the hospital. I fuckin’ pulled some of my stitches and it hurt like a bitch. Guess I really should’ve listened to the doctors and nurses.”
what would you be doing now if you weren't working on zenith?
“If I wasn’t working with The Broke Pack, I’d either be in some other TV show or movie, or I’d be restoring cars for a living.”
what was your first kiss like?
“My first kiss? Shit, that was like... Ten years ago, I can’t remember that shit. Forgettable, apparently.”
what makes you happy?
“Music, mainly. Making other people happy. Gabe. Hair dye, I dunno. A lot of things make me happy. I’m a happy guy, what can I say?”
what would you want your last meal on earth to be?
“Baked rigatoni with dauphinoise potatoes and porcini mushrooms.”
what's the easiest way to someone's heart?
“I’d say through their stomach, like the old saying goes, but I’m more inclined to believe that it’s with rainbow hair, a winning smile and a bit of Irish charm.”
