Friendship at 30 looks nothing like friendship at 20βand thatβs a good thing.
The red flags you ignore in the beginning will be the reason things end. Even if it takes years.
Saying βnoβ is a muscle; the more you use it, the stronger it gets.
Therapy is not an emergency room, itβs a gym. Go before things fall apart.
You will not regret wearing sunscreen. You will regret skipping it.
Having a clean kitchen before bed feels like a love letter to your future self.
Stop asking people who donβt live your life for advice on how to live it.
Cooking for yourself is a quiet form of self-respect.
You can love someone and still not want them in your life.
The things you say to yourself matter.
Small talk is underratedβitβs the bridge to deep talk.
Your body is not the same one you had at 21, and thatβs not a tragedy.
You can start over at any age. People do it all the time.
Donβt text your ex. Ever.
Rest is productive.
You canβt force someone to value youβyou can only show them how you value yourself.
If your ex-friend is on a smear campaign about you, stay silent. You left the friendship for a reason, and their loud says a lot more about them than your quiet.
Your energy is your currencyβspend it wisely.
Time alone is not loneliness; itβs maintenance.
The thing you keep postponing because you think itβs too late? Start it. Youβll wish youβd done it sooner.
Silence during an argument is not the same as losingβit can be a sign of emotional maturity.
Happiness is often found in the smallest, most ordinary moments.
Text people when you think of themβit means more than you know.
βBecause I want toβ is a valid reason.
Time heals a lot, but intentional healing is faster.
Everything feels less scary once you say it out loud.
Nobody has it all together. If they say they do, theyβre lying.
Youβll never regret investing in good bedding.
Sometimes youβre not sad, youβre just dehydrated and scrolling too much.
Forgiving yourself takes longer than forgiving anyone else.
Life doesnβt get easierβit gets richer, if you let it.

not sure if itβs me or the world but i always find myself in scenes that only murakami himself would write: i sat down to drink my ginseng latte macchiato at a bar near the station since later around midday i have to catch the train and a small brown bird flew in and joined me at my table - good morning beautiful sweet surrealism

I say again, out of the sheer joy of being alive: salvation comes through riskβwithout that, life is not worth living! Happy New Year.
β Clarice Lispector, Too Much of Life
βBelief isnβt simply a thing for fair times and bright daysβ¦What is belief - what is faith - if you donβt continue in it after failure?β¦Anyone can believe in someone, or something that always succeedsβ¦But failureβ¦ah, now, that is hard to believe in, certainly and truly. Difficult enough to have value. Sometimes we just have to wait long enoughβ¦then we find out why exactly it was that we kept believingβ¦Thereβs always another secret.β

Find meaning. Distinguish melancholy from sadness. Go out for a walk. It doesn't have to be a romantic walk in the park, spring at its most spectacular moment, flowers and smells and outstanding poetical imagery smoothly transferring you into another world. It doesn't have to be a walk during which you'll have multiple life epiphanies and discover meanings no other brain ever managed to encounter. Do not be afraid of spending quality time by yourself. Find meaning or don't find meaning but "steal' some time and give it freely and exclusively to your own self. Opt for privacy and solitude. That doesn't make you antisocial or cause you to reject the rest of the world. But you need to breathe. And you need to be.
Albert Camus, Notebooks 1951-1959
L. V., writing as you sleep
The beauty of solitude lies in knowing that you are free from others and bound only to yourself.
La belleza de la soledad consiste en saberse libre de los demΓ‘s y atado a uno mismo.
Oscar Wilde, De Profundis
