Repost from @eliasamatar using @RepostRegramApp - I met this family during my last trip to the Becca Valley, Lebanon while distributing heating oil with Salam LADC. Four of their younger children took the Aegean Sea route through Chios, Greece in late 2015. The youngest at the time was 6, and the oldest, 13; they were traveling by themselves. After a long journey, they arrived to Sweden where they were able to attain asylum. When Europe closed it’s borders in March 2016, the rest of the family was left behind in Lebanon. The mother told me of the agony and suffering that she endured during the war in Syria, and the pain of the loss of many friends and relatives, but how all that paled in comparison to the despair she felt being away from her boys. Last night, I received news that the family will join the boys in Sweden in the next two weeks. They were granted asylum and the family will be together again; good news just in time for Mother’s Day.
