“Well, I miss my family,” she offered softly, “But honestly, weather wise, this place isn’t much different. “Oh wow!” Lavinia gasped, “New York? Is it wonderful? I’ve always heard it’s such an amazing place!”
Sadness crossed pale features, twisting at the girl’s words. “I’m s– sorry to hear that. That must be d-difficult,” she murmured, lips pursing.
A weak smile pulled at the corners of her lips, caught between sympathy & fondness. “It’s very nice. It – It has a bit of everything: the city, the farms, the sea, the m-mountains. I’m very grateful t-to have lived there.”
Lav nodded softly, a sad smile against her features, “somedays are harder than others,” she admitted. “But being here is keeping them safe, so I’m quite thankful for that.”
