“Or if I am really unfortunate and one day I just suddenly age like ten years,” he laughed, shaking his head. “Well, if you ever feel alone, you know where to reach me.”
“Oh man, imagine that. You just wake up one day with a receding hairline.” She chuckled at the thought. She moved closer, giving her friend a cheerful hug. “Thank you. You know i feel the same way.”
“No, you’re not always the deliverer of bad news. You tell me good things too,” she smiled, resting against the girl too. “Dwight? You think… wooden bullets?”
“I try to. Maybe that should be my new year resolution... tell more good news.” She kissed the top of her friend’s head. “I don’t know... it didn’t seem like a bullet wound. But it seemed... deliberate. Wolves are usually so good at avoiding that sort of thing. And he was so disorientated. He still remembers so little...”

“I mean, is that a curse or a blessing? I have been legal for over seven years,” he laughed, shaking his head. “Well, you can definitely call me one.”
“I think at the moment it’s a curse, but in the future you’re going to be glad for it.” She smiled at him gently. “That means a lot... i can be a bit of a loner.”

Remy’s eyebrow shot up and he pouted, but didn’t prod just yet, keeping the information for later. “Well that goes without saying.” He just preened.
He chuckled. “Lucky,” And the word always set him off. “Harumph. Unless my own luck changes– WHICH I am working on– all the men and women in the world could want me and I’d still end up alone.” He said dramatically.
“Well you will with that attitude” She scolded him playfully. “In all seriousness, are you happy? That matters to me.”

“Okay, fair point. I don’t turn down money. Wouldn’t be good for business,” he joked, smiling back at her. “Well, I would love to be the man who changes how you feel about it.”
“See, I know you too well already.” Fliss laughed, leaning back against the wall of the restaurant. “Good luck with that. I don’t dislike it i just... am not a massive fan. Christmas parties, family dos, it’s all a lot. The coven does a big thing every year.”

“I need a good pep talk, pretty often,” the girl laughed gently, she was grateful for her friendship with Fliss. “Well, yeah, there’s always going to be people who don’t… that’s why all these awful things happen in the first place.” She nodded. “No, I am okay. I don’t want to be kept in the dark.”
“What i’m here for, bad news and witty one liners.” She squeezed the woman’s arm again. Leaning on her. “Dwight.... he had some pretty bad splinters. But i don’t know how he would’ve done it to himself.”

“Young man? How young do you think I am?” Nate grinned back at her. “Damn my baby face.” He laughed. “Yeah? Is that a compliment? Thank you. I like you too. We’re all just people living our lives. You’re my friend no matter what.”
“I don’t know you just kind of have that face that’s eternally youthful. I’m just saying I wouldn’t willingly serve you alcohol.” She smiled at him. “Thanks... for that Nate. I can’t say i’ve had many friends in my life.”

“Fine, you don’t get my cooking then,” he tried to keep a straight face, though a small smile crept onto his features. “Yeah, it does. I like it,” he nodded, straightening up some menus.
“If i am a paying customer, i’ll jsut order your cooking.” She smiled again at the man. “It’s not that i don’t like it, it jsut always ended in some sort of fight i my family.”

“You’ll be glad to know, well maybe you won’t but my Christmas menu is out. Just spreading the news. The Christmas cheer and my business,” the wolf laughed, offering the other a smile.
Fliss raised a brow. “I’m not a big Christmas freak. I just kinda let it pass me by.” She half smiled. “But i’m sure you make great business on it, it must keep you busy.”

“Thank you, you always make me feel better about myself. I need that sometimes,” she laughed a little. “But I am doing better. That’s true. Really too. They all want the same as us. Peace and safety.”
“I am always here for pep talks, you know that.” She nudged her arm. “I... am sad to say i’m not sure everyone wants that. Not anymore.” She sighed, thinking back to the injuries Dwight had come to her with. Her suspicions had started then. “But i don’t want you to worry. You’ve had enough on your plate lately.”

“I dread the day.” Remy said, but he was all smiles, betraying his words.
“Oh Fliss, we really do need to work on your game. What kind of friend am I if I can’t even wingman for you!” Remy exclaimed, taking her punch in stride with a devilish smile.
“A freak who can flirt.” Remy defended himself, sitting up.
“Can i really say a good one?” She smiled, folding her arms in her defence. She really didn’t want to be set up right now. And she certainly didn’t want to admit her growing feelings for a werewolf.
“that is not true, you can flirt. You’re just hard on yourself and you have your own merits. So many women would be lucky to have you.”

“You have to enlighten me now.” Nate grinned. “Oh, I will sing it. With no irony at all,” he laughed, nudging her back. “Aw, yes. I cracked you. You’re fond of me.”
“If only i could young man.” She just grinned. “I am fond of you. You’re my little human friend, believe it or not... I often prefer your kind to mine.”

“Maybe if we all pray hard enough it will happen,” she laughed a little, looking up at her friend. “Yeah, my mom has said as much… everyone is feeling edgy. I suppose I am. I don’t hide it too well.” She sighed a little. “Better. Better than I was. Not so crazy.”
Fliss moved closer. “Your friend had just died, it’s grief. You had every right to be crazy.” She lifted her arm, squeezing her friend’s shoulder. “but i’m glad you’re doing better. We’re all edgy... none of us want to die. But i trust the cops in this town... we seem to be okay.”

“I mean, it’s on my driver’s license, my passport, my birth certificate… there’s really no denying it,” he laughed, shaking his head. “Nothing, huh? I’ll keep that in mind when I say something bad,” he joked. “Yeah? That’s interesting? I am taking that as a positive.”
“Now i know.” She smiled, watching the man. “You really take most things as compliments, i’m not sure a date could go badly with that positive thinking. But then i did invite you.”

“Would I? Do tell,” he laughed, shaking his head. “Are you quoting a Mulan song? ‘Cause that really is a damn good one,” he shrugged. “I like you.”
“I don’t know if i can.” She grinned again. “It’s a great song, now add that to my karaoke list.” She nudged the man again. “You know, i’m rather fond of you Nate.”

Joey gave a small smile, looking over at them as she spoke. “So it’s December, I wonder if we can get a quiet holiday month? What do you think?” she laughed a little.
Fliss quirked an eyebrow. “One can only hope. Honestly, the only good thing about the last few weeks is sales of protective herbs have gone up... i think every witch in town is on edge after Ava’s sister...” She sighed. “How are you holding up?”

Remy blew the loudest raspberry, spit going everywhere. “Do you want something from me?” He said, with a smile. “Only people who want something ever compliment me like that. If I didn’t know any better I’d say you were hitting on me.” It was all jokes, they’re relationship having been only platonic over the years. The Christmas punch incident didn’t count.
“We do not want a repeat of the year someone spiked the Christmas punch. Everyone was making out, it was practically an orgy.”
“I don’t want anything... yet.” She rubbed her lips together. “Although i’m going to keep it in the bank for the future. Hmmm... if you didn’t know me better you mean. I have always been awful at flirting.” She rested on her hand. “That’s college life for you and we both know you’re a secret freak.” She punched his arm, glad for the cheery discussion. It had been a hard few weeks in Crescent Hill. They needed more people like Remy.
