am I crazy or does so much queer media have at it's heart an aching loneliness. I've noticed it and maybe it's just the ones I've been gravitating to (lmaooooo 😊😊😊😊😊) but it is something I resonate really deeply with. I am wrong and I don't know how and so I am alone/I am different and I know how but I hide it so I am alone/I am myself and I am hated for it and so I am alone.

I don't want to fall into soulmateism but it is compelling. There's a way you are supposed to be and you don't fit right but someone out there was inversely as malformed and your edges align. There's a lot of shows in the world where boy meets girl and that's about it. When your relationship is allowed to be deep without the expectation of romance suddenly there needs to actually be a compelling reason for romance; a way to fit together.

Idk. It's cool because like, everyone's getting their freak matched. The girl isn't just waiting for a man to choose her and marry here. The guy isn't just waiting to get what he feels he's owed. Even in shows that follow a similar script, it is not the one handed to the characters at birth, thoughtlessly and obediently followed.

There's something inherently lonely in questioning expectations that others around you take as truth. And there's something really beautiful about finding your people.
