So I just found out today (May 1st) is every clowns birthday.

Like every clown.

For context May 1st is traditionally the beginning of circus season, hence it being considered the birth of clowns. Therefore: it’s every clowns birthday.

Clay-faced Bear: Cherry-Crisp Charlie

Meet Cherry-Crisp Charlie, he/him, the sweet clown bear that loves all things cherry and pink! A gentle soul, he spends most of his time baking sweet treats for his friends at the teddy bear circus. Sometimes, he's even late to his own act because the cherry pie isn't ready to come out of the oven yet!

This is probably the cutest clay-faced plush I've ever made. I was intending on selling him, but I don't think I can anymore after seeing him all assembled. I really thought if I made ones that weren't goth and creepy, that I could part with them, but just LOOK at him. Could YOU part with that face???

I tried something completely new, this time. I wanted to use resin on the eyes, which worked pretty well, other than me promptly over-filling the eye holes and resigning to coat the entire face in resin. Not a bad choice, overall, since it makes the face shiny and will seal in the chalk pastel and paint. It did cause a few glitters from the eyes to travel to the cheeks, though, and I didn't do the best at removing all of the lint.

Still, though, it was a good experiment, and I do like how shiny the face plate is, now. It makes it look more like porcelain than clay.

This was the original bear. He was awfully cute already, but I love his makeover so much.
