there has been a recent development where we have been accused of âbullyingâ another local band, I Hate Sex (you can hear their music here! ffo: Cerce, and definitely not Florals.)
let me begin by saying that nobody in either of these bands has anything to do with each other anymore, though there have been personal relationships in the past that have since been dealt with, but weâre not gonna get into that. we arent friends or even remotely close. we just reside in the same city and same scene.Â
basically, nicole and ashton from I Hate Sex made our guitarist, Brad Hosler, into a joke for their entire summer tour with Anna Phorra, who were also in on the joke. here is a link to a brief screencap of Brad and Jibrilâs (bassist of I Hate Sex) conversation about how he was made into a running joke between kids who are apparently inclusive towards everyone in their scene. so, as a rebuttal, Brad and I (Luke), have made comments such as (and definitely 100% limited to) âAshton Burns, teach me how to sweep pick.â after this happened, every member of the band proceeded to call us out for being âshitty musicians,â âshitty people,â and basically any other insult to our character that they could imagine.
so, as the fun-loving, inclusive individual i am. i decided to include myself (and Brad) in this weird little thing where we had some unimportant twitter beef with Jibril and Ashton (I Hate Sex), this all escalated to a point that nobody is really proud of, (but to a point where none of us are going to apologize either because this is clearly a two way street), here is a screencap of Nicole (I Hate Sex) posting to her personal blog about how her and her band were âbulliedâ by members of Florals, when we were simply standing up for ourselves, as well as saying that one of our members broke their bassists guitar amp, which did happen, brad blew a fuse during a set with our other band, but because he let every single band on a house show bill use his 30 watt amp on max master and expected it not to blow out after 3-4 hours of steady use. brad also has offered to replace the fuse and fix the amp himself for jibril. jibril declined and said he wants $30 for the time heâd spend fixing the $3 fuse.Â
tl;dr: iâm not going to tell you not to support someones band because theyâre big bad bullies on the internet. in fact, a lot of you will probably enjoy i hate sex. but we feel like stupid band beef like this that gets elevated to a whole new level on the internet by prominent members of our community is something that you can easily get a skewed perception on.

edit: Jose and Zack (Florals) were in no way involved in this, i didnt want to see them develop some sort of reputation, so i decided to make a statement. theyâre really nice cute guys and dont deserve to be shaded by another band
