A while back I poured quite a bit of effort into a lyric analysis of High Tides and came to the conclusion that I see it as a song about making sense of tragedies, non-linear healing and unpredictability of life, illustrated by several small stories, most likely other people’s. So the pregnancy bit of it starts to sound more like accidental loss experienced by someone close to him if you look into it. But people just took the easiest, most gossipy and scandalous interpretation and ran with it. Nothing new under the sun, really.
