âYes, but it might just be my presence in the training room to scare them into becoming better.â
âAnd here I thought you only picked the best of the best. If they fail under pressure thatâs not good, is it.â

âYes, but it might just be my presence in the training room to scare them into becoming better.â
âAnd here I thought you only picked the best of the best. If they fail under pressure thatâs not good, is it.â
âDonât call me Rissa,â Clarissa sighed narrowing her eyes at the other girl, âTrue, I probably should have known better.â
âI thought it sounded cool and cute, but whatever you say C.â She gave her a teasing smile. âNow you know.â
âTake a picture, itâll last longer! â And yes, itâs not like I have to hide my body yet, itâs quite rude to stare.â
âI wasnât staring. Iâm not rude like that. But I was measuring it, cause look what I brought!â She held out a forest green  dress in her hands. âI thought itâd go with your pretty hair.â
âIâm only asking you to turn away because that look on your face is awfully annoying, Florence and the question was rhetoric, I didnât actually expect you to answer it.â
âOh the rude words. But I did answer it, Rissa, you should know me well enough to not ask me rhetoric questions.â
âI asked? Iâm simply saying that if you feel uncomfortable to at least look away, itâs distracting.â
âNo. You asked if this was the first time Iâve seen a dead body and after that you asked me to turn away. Youâre not going senile, are you?â
âI have a large clan, I can delegate these things. But I do always have some hand it it.â
âYou do the extreme exercises, yes? Those crazy killer moves and all that fancy stuff.â
ââThank youâŠ. I donât know your name. What is it?ââ
âFlorence Thorne. The only source of positivism youâll find around here.â
âThen look away, honestly, you look mortified,â she scoffed, crouching down beside the corpse.
âFine. You asked.â
âI train them until theyâre less useless. But I wouldnât accept the hopeless ones in the first place, unless they came with something beneficial.â
âWhy would you bother with something like that? I mean yes itâs better to have a good clan but isnât it a bit below you to train them? Or did you mean that you have someone train them.â
âPlease,â Catalina scoffed slightly. âYou think I would have such witless clan members?â
âYou canât succeed every time, can you?â She looked back to the âwitlessâ vampires. True, they looked quite horrible. âWhat do you do with the witless ones? Throw them on the street so they donât ruin your image? Sounds quite harsh.â
Catalina looked disdainfully over a pair of young vampires attempting to spar. âMy, arenât they something.â Her lips curled up in amusement as she watched their clumsy movements. âI envy their clan leader.â
âTheir clan leader? As in that is not you?â Florence asked with an innocent smile. It was an attempt at teasing, she had once again decided to leave all caution back in her room.
ââMiss my pretty face around here?ââ
âI never noticed it even in the first place. But it is pretty.â
âNever seen a dead body before?â Clarissa asked with a slight scoff before looking down at it in disdain and sighing, âI do hate getting my hands dirty.â
âDonât belittle me, please. Of course Iâve seen one but they never make me feel comfortable.â
âDonât judge me! I was stating a fact.â
âOh, thatâs actually quite thoughtful and very needed those here who canât magically heal themselves,â Artemis said with smile, âIf youâd like some help, I would be more than happy to.â
âIâd say the faes and mundies have it the worst. Others can either heal themselves or like you wolves, you just heal amazingly fast,â Florence mused as she kept placing the books on the right shelves. âIâd love some help. I have been trying to find one certain recipe but it hasnât come across yet. Iâm getting both depressed and annoyed -Iâve probably gone through a dozen or so books already.â
Hana transformed the stick with her hand, holding it up to the girls head, âWould you prefer a smaller weapon?â
âI prefer no weaponsâ, Florence muttered and stepped further away from the other warlock.Â
FLORENCE THORNE ;; FAMILY
The Mother ;; Catherine Thorne
Catherine Thorne was widowed in odd circumstances. The last time she saw Richard was when they shared a bed but when the morning came the man had disappeared. At first she thought he had just abandoned her and as weeks went by she realized that she was pregnant. It was quite a relief when the police found his dead body, mysteriously mangled body, from some ditch near the city. Now it was not a scandal, Catherine was just a widow whose tragedy was even too sad to be a topic of gossip.
Catherine inherited quite a lot of money from her late husband and topped with her own wealth, it seemed that the widow could keep on living her luxurious life without any problems.
Florence was born on January 3rd. The new mother was horrified when the babyâs skin was covered with purple blotches here and there. They were too bright to be some bruises. Catherine was sure that her daughter was diseased and was ready to weep.Â
But as Florence grew up and her Warlockâs mark never disappeared, Catherine came to accept it as a part of her daughter.Â
The Relationship
Catherine and Florenceâs relationship was neither bad nor good. They got along -they had to. But Florenceâs opinionated personality clashed with her motherâs. Catherine was a strong person too and had a way of making Florence do as she said. At least the first 20ish years. Back then the woman could just say that mother knows best. Florence learned to behave like a proper lady, how to sit, talk, laugh, dance or even walk. This way of life stuck with her for a long time. Even to this day some of the etiquette sticks with her, although she has let herself become slightly more indifferent to the unnecessary rules.Â
But the fact stands that Florence was Catherineâs only family and vice versa. The two were there for each other and had built a strong bond between each other. Florence damaged that bond when she decided to adventure deeper to the Shadowworld that definitely was the exact opposite of what Catherine wanted.Â
