The scene which unfolded before his eyes was not something which he had expected. Florence seemed to be in a heated argument with his brother with a look of complete loathing on her features. Even when she had been angry with him, she hadn’t looked at him the way she did now. They had their wands out and Edgar’s voice was raising, he knew he couldn’t just let whatever was happening get worse. “Ed, what the hell are you doing?” he asked hurrying towards the pair, looking from one to the other. “Lower your wands, both of you.”
@florenceroper
“I would really hope so. It’d be pathetic if I was all you talked about.” Florence raised her wand in response to him. If he was threatening her with magic then was damn well going to protect herself. Oscar was the last person she expected as he stepped between them. It was with reluctance that she did as he asked, but she refused to look at him, contempt still written across her features.

“I miss you more than the Moon misses the night.”
@florenceroper
“I’ve missed you too,” Florence chuckled, “What has my favorite tiny human been up to?”

He was enormously relieved when she didn’t push his hand away, his thumb occasionally brushing the skin of the back of her hand as he tried to convey his apology without words, even though he knew no form of apology would be enough. The silence, which he had assumed would be awkward and terrifying turned out to be soothing. Maybe it was just that despite him hurting her and feeling like he was drowning in guilt, she was still there, she wasn’t gone, and that made him feel like not everything was lost. His eyes closed for a moment when she place a hand of his cheek, and he placed his own hand over hers, turning sideways to press his lips lightly to her palm. “I - I don’t know all of it either but we can figure it out together.” he said as he took her hand down level with his chest to hold in both of his, looking at her earnestly. “This is real. Now is real.” he said softly, unsure how to answer her abut who he was. “The first time you saw me at the library, you looked at my prefect badge and said you didn’t know how I could be a prefect. You called me Edgar and before I could explain that I was his brother, that I was Oscar, you were gone. And you smiled, you had the brightest smile. You only ever smiled when you were with me. Till - till today.”
“And you only ever lied when you were with me. I should hate you.” There was venom in her words, but no bite. She couldn’t bring herself to muster up hatred for him no matter how much he deserved it. Trusting him now was hard, but she wanted to believe him. There was something in his eyes that drew her in and had her trying to convince herself that he was worthy of a second chance. If anything, she’d just found everything she disliked about him, wasn’t him. “Why didn’t you tell me the next time you saw me? Or the time after that? We could have had a laugh at my silly mistake because that’s all it would have been then. We could have truly gotten to know one another. I wouldn’t be wondering how much of what we have is real, and how much is contrived.” Florence pulled her hand away and stood up. “I think I can make it back to my dorm on my own. I need more time to process everything. I need some space.”

“Do you really think it’s going to take us that long to finish it? You underestimate us both if you do.” Tommy lifted up the bottle and squinted at it before he took a swig of it. “I reckon we can get this down within five minutes, yeah?” Smirking, he passed it over to her before raising his eyebrows in curiosity. “Oh yeah? What’s made it so great?”
“I don’t think it will take us long at all. I’d just like to finish it first. Five minutes seems about right.” Florence took the bottle back and took a long drink, letting the alcohol burn warmth down her throat. The familiar buzz settling in her brought a small smile to her lips. “I wouldn’t know where to begin. It’s been one thing after another. Can’t we start with you tonight? Tell me about your week.”
edgyybones:
For a second he was confused by her words, she couldn’t seriously be angry over a fucking joke, could she? Honestly, he had imagined when she found out, she’d find it as funny. Maybe not as funny, but atleast somewhat. She had a sense of humour, or so he thought. Obviously he had been wrong. “Are you fucking serious right now?” he said exasperatedly, eyeing her wand warily. “You’re pissed over a fucking joke? Get over it for Merlin’s sake. You were as stupid as they came, so obviously Oz and I had a laugh about it. Or you know, several laughs.”
Florence had taken time to separate them. It was still hazy. It would take more time. That didn’t mean she didn’t have a general idea. Everything she liked about him was Oscar. Everything that upset her was Edgar. Sure, there was some overlap, but keeping it simple was enough for her at the moment. “It was more than a joke. You don’t fuck with someone’s head for that long. It stopped being a joke awhile ago. If you’re so surprised by my reaction then maybe you should talk to your brother. He clearly hasn’t been sharing everything with you.”
edgyybones:
Edgar smirked when he saw Florence, she looked absolutely furious and he found that to be hilarious. Oscar had let him know that their little joke was over and Ed was ready to taunt the girl for eternity about how she had mistaken both of them as the same person. “What’s up, Roper?” he scoffed only to have her punch him in the face and he stumbled back, his eyes wide with fury. “What the actual fuck?” he growled as stepped forward again with his wand out.
“You know what, and you know you deserved that. Actually, that isn’t half of what you deserve. Someone should shove you off the astronomy tower for doing something so despicable.” Florence drew her own wand. She had no intention of hexing him, but wouldn’t shy away from defending herself. The least she could do was use her speed to her advantage to put up a protection charm.

@florenceroper
‘i’ve missed you more than a dog misses their bark.’
“Have you now? I don’t mind you talking, but I think you make your point better with actions.”
catchgreta:
“Oh… well that does give me an idea.” She grinned, suddenly feeling slightly better. “Do you really not like pranks? How do you survive in Gryffindor then? Isn’t that all they care about besides bravery and loyalty?”
“Then glad I could help. Want to run that idea by me? We can work out the kinks.” Florence didn’t really care about helping. It wasn’t that she wanted Greta to suffer. It was that her problem didn’t seem significant to Florence. It was completely tolerable. “It depends on the prank. I appreciate clever, and don’t mind if it doesn’t affect me. I’m just not the type to pull pranks. There is more to Gryffindor house. The few rowdy ones don’t define us.”

“Maybe if you got me another bottle I could dig a little deeper. I seem to be able to find more words when I’m drunk.” Which wasn’t even a lie considering Tommy was usually quiet and resereved until he got a drop of alcohol in him and all his restrainments upon himself went out the window. “You must be having a pretty fucking good week if you’re sat with me. Are you trying to ruin it?” he asked with a small snort as he lifted the bottle to his lips and took a sip from it.
“I’m sure we could find another bottle if we looked around, but shouldn’t we finish this one first?” Florence had been doing a great job of hiding her worry about the increased deaths and incidents, but she could only avoid it so much. She knew if they were targeting people outside the pureblood circle then neither her, nor her family were safe. “Fucking fantastic. I don’t think even you could ruin it so I’m not worried.“

“Some poor soul? In that case there are a lot of them around here.” he laughed. “And I don’t either but for completely other reasons. What can I say? I’m over school.” Julian confessed. It wasn’t difficult to figure out since he’d never been one to care much about schoolwork. “You are not that flawed, Flo, why have you got to exaggerate? I was only joking anyway.”
“Then take your pick. Have some fun.” The teasing smile never left her lips. She always appreciated never having to censor herself around him. They could go from teasing to serious and not miss a beat. It was why she often went to him first for anything. He was like a brother without the competition and comparisons from her own family. “Tell me something I don’t know. It’s never been your thing, and it’s not everything. I think you should stick it out, and take your exams to get it done with since you’ve put in the time, but it’s your choice, your life.” It didn’t matter what he decided. She’d still be there to support him. It’s how friendship worked. “I’m not that perfect either. I know you were joking.”
oscarbones:
Her words made him flinch yet again. He felt like she wanted him gone, not just at the moment, but for good. He couldn’t just leave her though, not when she was so broken. He hated to see her this way, she had always been this cheerful person who could flip his mood when he was down but now she was in tears, and it was all his fault. And worse, there was nothing he could do to make anything better. He moved closer to her, hesitantly reaching his hand out to hers. “You’re absolutely right. I deserve all the pain in the world for what I did, but.. but you don’t.” he said in a shaky voice. He wanted to deny her words, that he didn’t lead her on, that despite the one lie, everything was true but even in his head the excuse made no sense. “I am sorry, please tell me what you want me to do.”
She couldn’t answer him right away. She couldn’t even pull away from his touch. If she was being honest with herself it was because she didn’t want to. Despite everything, she couldn’t erase how she felt. It didn’t just turn off. Seeing them as two people helped. While part of her wanted to push him off the astronomy tower, that feeling was mostly reserved for Edgar. Her mind was slowly sorting through everything, separating them. She wasn’t sure how long they sat there in silence. It was enough time for the tears to stop. She reached to place her hand on his cheek. “I don’t know what’s real anymore. Tell me what’s real. Tell me who you are.”
