They were both bent over the ball to pick it up, oblivious to the fact that the other had been into motion to do the same.

Aomine’s eyes had widened while Kagami had withdrawn his hand and taken some steps back in utter panic as if he had touched boiling water.

“W-what the fuck was that?” Aomine snapped, looking at the ball and then at Kagami who seemed to have received a blow in the face. He was so friggin pale all of a sudden, staring at Aomine like he was an alien now. “What was tha-?”

“Nothing!” he had shouted, turning his back on the tanned teen to hide his troubled and flushed face. “It was nothing!” he had urged, heart falling to his knees.

“Huh? But righ… now… it wa… I am sure I sa-… didn’t you?” Aomine was so overwhelmed he couldn’t form a correct sentence and he had his eyes boring hole into Kagami’s skull. It was the first time he had felt and seen something like that. It was -wow. Just, Wow.

“I-I don’t know what you are talking about, I am sorry.”

Kagami’s voice was so cold, so distant, so rushed. Aomine frowned at the change of demeanor, but mostly at the fact that the other was denying this amazing thing he would swear Kagami saw too. The need to close the distance between them suddenly filled him and he took a step forward. “Tai…!” Kagami heard him move and lost it. “Don’t you fucking move, Aomine!!!”

“What?”

Kagami shut his eyes tight. It couldn’t be, not again. The first time this had happened, the other denied him even though they had seen the same thing. It had hurt so much that he had sworn to never let that happen ever again. Never. “I said don’t fucking move!” he panted. “Don’t fucking come near me… ever again!”

The cold pain ran through his frozen body as Kagami left the court without even throwing a single glance toward him…
