It’s Not Like It’s a Secret is a poem of a novel, Misa Sugiura’s perspective as a teacher really shone on amazing and realistic characters. I loved the insight into Japanese culture, the poetry and the much-needed discussions on racism and stereotypes. Little know fact: the largest Japanese community outside of Japan is in Brazil! This book needs to be published here!

Have you ever been to a book fair? I’m working in my first Bienal, one of the most important book fairs of Brazil. It’s a lot of fun, specially when you meet old friends and earn new ones, but it can also be really tiring!
Rainhas Geek é um dos livros mais positivos, divertidos e inclusivos que já li! Eu amei a confiança da Charlie, coragem da Taylor e como elas se apoiam. Também gostei muito do Jamie, um menino que não fica calado quando se depara com atitudes machistas que podem até ser consideradas normais no dia-a-dia, mas que na verdade fazem parte de um comportamento tóxico. Não vejo a hora de ler o próximo livro da Jen Wilde, espero que chegue logo no Brasil! Queens of Geek is one of the most positive, fun and inclusive books I’ve ever read! I loved Charlie's confidence, Taylor's courage and how they support each other. I also really liked Jamie, a boy who does not remain silent when faced with sexist attitudes that may even be considered normal in everyday life, but are actually part of a toxic behavior. I can’t wait to read Jen Wilde’s next book, I hope it’ll came soon to Brazil!!

The best thing about reading feminist classic books is to see where the movement is and where it came from. The radical ideas that are part of the mainstream today and the quite basic ones that are still deemed as too much. Cunt by Inga Muscio is a book that opened my mind like a wildflower to the 90’s feminism. Although many of her essays stayed true to the Intersectional Feminism I believe in, I cannot feel totally represented by them. Is there a fourth wave of feminism? Am I part of it? Maybe I will only be able to know the answer of that question in some years, but I very much like the way we are going as a movement and I’m very grateful for all the amazing women it connected me trough, so thank you my 90’s sisters. 🌸

I bought this chrysanthemum flowers from a lovely old couple, they have such beautiful flowers in their stand! Every Saturday I go to the Farmer's Market with my boyfriend, here in Brazil it's called Feira and every neighbourhood has one. I love all the smells and colours! Sarah Crossan is with no doubt one of my favourite writers, this is the third book I've read about her and she never disappoints. Her books touch me so deeply every time with her beautiful and empathic writing. Moonrise stayed with me for months since I read it at the beginning of the year. The heartache Joe go through just broke my heart, I just can't imagine how he, or anyone, can deal with this kind of situation, principally in a world that sees his brother and their family as villains. I was already against the death penalty, but now I have the knowledge to pledge my case; one of the best things about Sarah Crossan's books is that they give you so much information and knowledge that in the end, you have a much stronger foundation.
O segundo episódio do podcast Desqualificadas é sobre prostituição e enquanto eu ouvia a conversa delas eu fiquei o tempo todo voltando para um livro que eu li ano passado, Os prazeres da noite pela Margareth Rago. Esse livro te leva por todos os aspectos da prostituição desde os homens conservadores criando leis até revistas feministas da época (1890-1930) e como isso moldou a cidade de São Paulo atual. Foi uma das leituras mais dificeis da minha vida, mas me ajudou a começar a entender esse assunto tão complexo e intricado e como ele é relacionado com a misoginia de hoje.
The second episode of the podcast Desqualificadas is about prostitution and while hearing their conversation I kept coming back to a book that I've read last year, Os prazeres da noite by Margareth Rago.
This book takes you through all the aspects of prostitution since the conservative man making laws to feminist magazines of the time (1890-1930) and how it shaped the city of São Paulo to its present form.
It was one of the hardest reads of my life, but it helped me to start to understand such a complex and intricated issue and how it all relates to the misogyny in place today.
