Curiosity Killed The Cat
ex-shinobswritesâ:
Itâs been a whole week already, but it still felt like a nightmare to her. Wishing to finally wake up from this anguish, Minji had been frozen in shock since her younger brother had vanished into thin air all of the sudden. Theyâve never had it easy, living as orphans, the two siblings had practically went through hell on earth. As the older sister, she had done her best to provide for them, without dropping out of school and even keeping up her grades to receive a scholarship to visit a university. After coming off age, Minji had believed that their life would be easier from now on, but instead she was confronted with the disappearance of her beloved brother.
She was all alone, with no family left.
But, even when she felt broke, Minji wasnât the type of girl to lose her hope and give up on fighting her way back towards the light. So, when the pain of not knowing of her brotherâs location had faded, she had went out to look for him in this cursed town. Since her childhood, she had always felt like strange things were happening here, but had never the chance to think about it further. Now that her brother was missing though, there was no way to ignore it any longer.
Minji needed to get into action, needed to get her hands on some information and sort out where to start her search. And what better place was there but the nearby bar that was the meeting spot for all kind of people. She entered the bar in the evening, looking around interested. It was her first time in a bar and there were quite some suspicious customers. When she was about to walk over to one of them, she heard someone talking about a missing person.
Without hesitation she walked over and tapped that personâs shoulder, while they were still chatting with someone else. âExcuse me, could you tell me what you know about that missing person, too?â
With new guests coming and those already there ordering more, his attention shifted focus back to his words. Even when the disappearances weren't anything new, each person was another surprise, shock, there was no one you wouldn't hear about at least once. Of course, he'd lost someone too, he wondered if there was even anyone at this point who didn't know at least one person who'd disappeared, even just as an acquaintance.
âWell, there isn't really more to it, like all the others,â the first person answered.
âI know one of the policemen, they said just as usual, no traces of anything found. The bartender might know more, though, hears a lot in here,â the second one added.
