This is actually a pretty important episode because the concept of "What if Jim Lake Jr. didn't get the amulet?"

He wouldn't be the Trollhunter

He wouldn't be able to deepen his friendship with Toby

He wouldn't get to see the beauty of Troll Market

He wouldn't be able to meet Blinky, Aarrrggghh!!!, Draal and Vendel

He and Claire wouldn't even get to be acquaintances

He wouldn't know that his favorite teacher, Strickler, is a changeling

And so on..

Basically, Jim was destined to be the bearer of the amulet and wield its powers. It would be the doom of humans and Trolls alike if he isn't the Trollhunter. Don't you see guys?

Jim needs to be the Trollhunter. His future and the future of all had already been woven.

Stricken refers to him and his fellow changelings as “half-breed[s]”, yet Blinky says that (at least in the old days) the changelings were the children of good trolls who were taken away, whereupon something “messy” was done to change them.

The fact that Strickler explicitly refers to changelings as “half-breed” implies a far, far more darker and potentially violent backstory to the changelings than i’m willing to ponder.
