As the larger daiyĹkai watched the trepidation etch visibly over the younger pup, Toga was caught between an endearing whine of reassurance and a sturdy bark in an attempt of a command. Hesitant over the fact that he has hardly been home, he didnât want to frighten the youngling and perhaps further bridge the gap between them.Â
There is also the matter of his beloved yet stubborn wife. Though she cannot be blamed for having a stronger desire to keep the young pup within the fortress for safety, he couldnât help but think of a amicable exchange to happen should they get caught. Heâs quite certain they will.
He wanted Sesshoumaru to see beyond the castle in the sky at such a ripe age in hopes of imparting a sense of humility that life beneath the clouds and their kind is as evenly beautiful. Perhaps even more with the promise of how time had developed so much value among the humans. How their simplicity and appreciation of life triumphs amidst looming possibilities of death, either by their own volition, of natural causes, time, and fiends. That perhaps exposure to the lesser finer things in life would aid in a more grounded upbringing.Â
He nudged the pupâs behind once more hoping that with a tad bit persuasion, heâd indulge his fatherâs wishes. âCome along. Father will keep you safe.âÂ
Toga says so as if Sesshomaru had doubted his Father could keep him safe, he mentally snorts. Then again, it wasnât false. In the face of a Mother wishing to protect her child from danger, no Father could truly interfere and win until she had felt her pup was old enough to fend for himself. In retrospect, Sesshomaru was old enough to frolic within the territory she oversaw as the Matriarch. Against low ranked Demons, Sesshomaru could certainly hold his own.
Getting a taste of freedom past the territory would only serve to partially wet the appetite of seeing more. The curiosity once sparked couldnât be tamed, and so it was smart to always ensure a pup was well equipped before venturing onwards. Certainly, venturing supervised was appropriate, but Toga had dismissed one fact.
For a man who had not been a common sight for the pup in his younger stages of life, his authority was more of a formality. Had Toga attempted to command Sesshomaru, he wouldâve been met with a derisive snort and rebellion. Fear would only come about had he bared teeth and shown aggression. Though, in that case, hurt and betrayal would be the foremost emotions rather than fear. It wasnât to say that Sesshomaru felt that he couldnât learn from his Father, but if it came at the risk of angering his Mother, heâd much rather choose to not risk it.
This would not have been a problem if heâd been assured his Mother would forgive or accept their outing.
While it wasnât too late for the Father to form a bond with his son, as the integral socialization period of a pup was still open, heâd erred immensely by suggesting to act while escaping the watchful gaze of his Mother. As unfilial as it was, this pup respected his Mother more than he did an absent Father. Perhaps it was the instinct of a pup who was still underneath the care of his Mother, learning from her the proper etiquette and boundaries befitting of a Demon from the upper echelons. Toga hadnât really asserted himself as a true Father figure in Sesshomaruâs life and Sesshomaru would not dismiss his Motherâs orders over Togaâs.
He may admire and wish to know more of his Father, he may wish to spend more time with him, but if it came down to disrespecting his Mother by acting behind her back? Then this pup would slam his foot down and snub the Father that dared to try to have him disrespect the very one who had raised him in the absence of a Father.
With a lofty swoosh of the nose, he turned his nose away, showing his disagreement of Togaâs coaxing. The pup went back to climbing back up the wall in a pursuit to instead search for his Mother. Yes, he was committing the crime of being unfilial by not obeying his Father, but in the eyes of this high and mighty pup, he had more reason to listen to the one whoâd always been nearby, rather than a Father who had rarely come home and showers him with affection on the rare occasion he came home.
Alas, it was the price to pay for a busy general who had to govern the lands, protecting it from invasion. There had already been a gap between Father and Son.
It would be unwise for Toga to be querulous towards the young pupâs disobedience and stubbornness. This was no act of rebellion nor is it a provocative attempt to undermine his authority both as the younglingâs father and the Lord of the West. Merely, a pup whose loyalty and preference resides more at his motherâs than the absent father. Patience would surely be something that should triumph in this endeavor.Â
Without sound, the elder dayoukai merely leaned past the barrier and took hold of the young pup by the scruff of his neck. Lifting the smaller dog demon up and off the walls, a subdued growl before diving past the clouds and onto the skies.Â
Given that this would indeed merit a squabble behind closed doors, he had planned to make the entire journey as humbling as possible. Not to mention, one that would rile up his wife a little too over the edge for reasons he would rather not dwell in.
As they soar through the skies, he had thought of dropping Sesshoumaru to test if he had gotten around the skill of flight without the safety of plummeting onto Kimiâs opulent gardens or servants rushing to ensure the young prince is unharmed.Â
Jaw now slowly unhinged, he peered down at the pup to elicit a reaction that would determine the next course of action. Whether to drop him through a confident response or be swift enough to catch him should the very second heâd hear him whine in fear or worry.
