The mass shooting in Orlando, killing 50 people in a night club out of disgust.
The man who killed a beloved singer, for reasons unknown.
The man who killed children and staff in an elementary school, to satisfy a personal vendetta.
The man who opened fire in a theater, killing patrons.
The two students that killed other students at their high school, out of revenge.
If you have thoughts racing through your mind, or emotions that seem out of control. If you know someone who is emotionally unstable. Please. PLEASE. Help them, or make sure they get help-- that you get help, if you need it.
If you see someone getting bullied. If you are being bullied. If you bully others. Please. Try to find a solution. Stand up for other people, for yourself. If you’re a victim, say something. I promise somebody will listen, even if it doesn’t seem like it at first. And if you are mean to others, for whatever reason... look inside yourself. Are you really content with treating others poorly? Does it truly make you happy?
I’d wager the answer is no.
I think we’d all be happier if we were actively kind to each other.
Maybe I don’t know enough about all of these tragedies to say what caused them. But somewhere along the line, these people made the choice to kill other human beings. These weren’t just spontaneous murders.
These were very intentional, gun-in-hand murders.
Out of hatred or disgust, or for reasons unknown. These choices come from how they feel.
If you feel like things are out of control. If you know somebody is being treated wrong. If you’ve done something you know is wrong.
Please. Make things right. No matter who you are, how people treat you, or what you’ve done; seek help for yourself, or for others.
We’ll never have a perfect world. But we can make it better, bit by bit, and if we try to treat each other and ourselves better... to forgive ourselves and others... to defend the rights of every human being... we can make a more beautiful world.
This is my hope for this world.
