This bag was lovingly handmade by Wayuu indigenous women. Their creativity, expertise and learning ability are reflected in the quality of their handicrafts. A high-quality bag is characterized by a tight weave and is created using three techniques: vertical weaving, "atulush" knotting and crocheting. By paying fair wages, Mama Tierra offers financial independence to indigenous women in La Guajira, an area between Colombia and Venezuela.

Made in Venezuela. Already in the 1970s, the Wayuu tapestry from Venezuela was well-known and beloved worldwide. From the Fira Barcelona to the MoMa in New York, the tapestries created using traditional techniques were admired in museums all over the world. Mama Tierra has revived the traditional craft of tapestry weaving for the production of our high-quality clutches.

The trendy hats by Mama Tierra are made by indigenous men in Colombia using the Iraka Palm. The symbols depicted on the braided hats represent the Wayuu spiritual wisdom. The Wayuu use a diagonal braid technique that makes each hat unique. They need up to eight hours to produce a single hat. Loving details like pompons turn traditional headwear into casual fashion accessories.
