Okay I'm being brave! I'm opening art commissions for the first time ever.

Long story short, my dad doesn't have an issue with his optic nerves thankfully, but he does have a very large aneurysm in his chest and we're just sitting around in limbo waiting for his emergency surgery, if indeed he actually has it. And I'm disabled, my mum is blind, my grandma is in her 70s and is severely asthmatic, my auntie's heart is currently actively failing as we speak, my uncle is stuck in Kenya right now and has just been in a car accident, and my great auntie is 93 years old with dementia and that's the entire family, so... To say we're struggling is an understatement 😭

(Genuinely even just a £5 chibi would be £5 I didn't have before and that's a third of a taxi fare to get to the hospital and I'd be so so bloody grateful)

A bunch of other stuff I've done recently/semi recently.

I can't do heavy NSFW, but mild activities that might make a Victorian blush would be totally fine.

Not confident enough yet to say that I can do Furries or Mecha art but both are things I'm currently practicing.

They think my dad might have something genetically wrong with him.

Which, if that ends up being true, obviously means I might also, so I can see a lot of frustrating conversations with my own doctors on the horizon...

So it turns out the reason the aneurysm team said they weren't the right people to look at my dad wasn't... true?

Their reason for sending him back to the initial hospital wasn't a medical one.

It was because the hospital didn't follow the right steps.

Basically they only take referrals from cardiologists.

He had an appointment at Chesterfield

They found the aneurysm and sent him onto Sheffield

Sheffield had a team meeting across various departments, one of which definitely would have been cardiology, and decided to send him to Leeds since they are the ones that deal with aneurysms

Leeds said no, only a cardiologist can refer patients to us, and sent him back to Sheffield

So he now has to have a new appointment at Sheffield just for a cardiologist to personally refer him back to Leeds

And Leeds had the audacity to tell us not to delay. When all of this has been one massive avoidance delay!

thing is, for a lot of these paintings it wasn’t “after” lily elbe’s transition. there was no after to it. the one op posted was painted in 1928. this was 2 years before lily legally changed her name and began undergoing revolutionary gender affirming procedures. unfortunately she died due to complications of an experimental uterine transplant in 1931.

up until that point, during the day lily continued to dress in masculine clothing and even attended galleries showing gottlieb’s paintings of her. which was kind of iconic. she got to stand in a room full of people who were marveling her beauty, not knowing she was right next to them. it must have been such a cute little secret for them as a couple.

not to mention that for most people there is no real “after” to a transition. especially for these trans historical figures who had to balance identity and safety at all times.

i think having a wife paint these portraits must have felt really amazing for lily. to be able to see herself through the eyes of someone who loved her. i’m very much seconding op on the getting teary eyed.

My dad definitely does not have a gallbladder. Scans reveal no gallbladder in his body. There is not a single percent of gallbladder anywhere to be found. The search has been called off, you can all go home now.

They are a very good singer. They have a beautiful falsetto, they're absolutely amazing. Do they like to sing though? Absolutely not, not in front of anyone. They'll sing when they think they're alone, but if they feel themself being perceived in any way, absolutely not! They're very shy.

12. Are they a picky eater?

They aren't overly used to being in a physical body that requires eating, so they don't like anything too strong as they find it overwhelming. So no spice or too much seasoning. They also don't like eating anything that's too messy because they'll get nervous about making a mess.

That one hurts, that really hurts

So the Leeds department think they're the wrong department so they'll be having another meeting, they'll refer him back to Sheffield, and we'll get another appointment in SIX MONTHS.

It will have actually been a year at that point since the aneurysm was discovered and we were told it was classed as a medical emergency and he'll be seen to within two weeks.

Dad was taken to hospital today after feeling a sudden sharp pain in his chest and then being unable to breathe. Bearing in mind, he already has an aneurysm in his chest. Of course, we haven't been told exactly where. We asked, they just refused to tell us, and also refused to tell us any warning signs to look out for.

Today we were told to look at the page about it on the NHS website, but no such page exists.

So anyway he was taken to hospital. They ruled out a heart attack, and basically decided that since he's already got asthma, it was probably just that. Just sudden onset worsening of asthma that feels totally different than usual, I guess.

Did not want to hear about the aneurysm. They said they can't consider that when looking at him because it's under a different hospital and they can't step on each other's toes, basically.

Long story short, we thought his aneurysm may have ruptured because medical professionals refuse to tell us what to look out for so we're left with our best educated guesses, and the only reason we know it didn't rupture is because he didn't die, not because they actually looked into anything about it.
