Filmmaker Youri Fernandez examines the contrast between night and day, and light and dark in this monochromatic look at skateboarding in Berlin. This conceptual piece is explained by NOWNESS as follows: The film is part of the “HOW MANY BPM?” project, a performance and installation series in which skateboarders become human metronomes as they ride back and forth on a ramp. The project was founded in 2014 at the Parisian gallery l’Hermitage by both Fernandez—co-founder of Berlin-based skateboard brand and art collective FLVR—and visual artist Iouri Camicas, who invite various musicians to create a sound universe to accompany each of the performances. We were just linked on an interesting short video piece by some rad guys in Berlin who do a project called "FLVR Series". As a continuation from their recent project "Fougere: Chapter 4", they released this new edit as a bonus part with Antoine Eon Caillot. Their approach is refreshingly unique and interesting and it's rad to see something different coming out of the Berlin skate scene. Check out the little video piece below which features a collaboration with French musician Yan Saint Macary creating a rad, almost eerie vibe to accompany some fun night skating footage. Here are a few words about FLVR Series and the project by the guys behind the project: "Based in Berlin, we started FLVR SERIES around 2 years ago as a project to produce boards and textile in collaboration with artists. As active skateboarders and art students, we wanted to create something different as a brand and decided to invite artists with different backgrounds to mix their point of view with ours. Beside the production and release of boards, we organize events and exhibitions to share our works and ideas"

BRIGHT Diaries
“This one's all about blending piano tunes with the sounds of Canadian maple popping and urethane wheels cruising: Known for their combination of skateboarding, art, and music, Berlin-based FLVR just released a bonus edit to their Fougère series, featuring Antoine Eon Caillot. Filming with Antoine, we soon realised that his creative approach of skateboarding is corresponding with our global project FLVR SERIES - so we decided it deserved an extra part to be included in our Fougere video series. The video was filmed in the French region of the Basque country and features some other friends too. We collaborated with french musician Yan Saint Macary to compose the music that actually follows the skateboarding rhythm and helps create a visual and sound harmony. “

“Basés à Berlin, FLVR a été lancé il y a environ 2 ans afin de produire des boards et du textile en collaboration avec des artistes. Skateboardeurs et étudiants en art, ont décidé d’inviter des artistes de milieux variés afin de confronter leurs propres points de vue sur le skateboard. FLVR SERIES s’apparente plus à un projet qu’à une marque car en plus de produire des boards, la marque organise des évènements et expositions afin de partager leurs travaux et leurs idées. “
