A sample result of what MoCap can do in Animation!
Our first fully successful motion capture is completed with the range of motion (ROM) calibration. ROM allows further recordings with the system to be able to easily detect sensors and motions, greatly reducing the risk of error or skipped frames. This video shows the ROM capture process both through live-action and the Blade system.

Flying Bison Studio is defining boundaries with the Vicon Blade motion capture system. Wielded by the calibrator similarly to a paint roller, they "paint" the boundary of the cameras' capture threshold as if they were painting a large circular fence. This video shows a side-by-side comparison of the live-action wand wave versus what it looks like in the Blade system itself.

Meet the Team! We are Flying Bison Studio. With our dedicated team of experienced artists, designers, modellers, and technicians, we aim to create a user-friendly, visually pleasing motion capture tutorial centre that will allow nearly any student, teacher or rookie technician to use the Vicon Blade system to maximum effectiveness.

Carleton University's School of Information Technology is home to the Interactive Multimedia and Design (IMD) program. This program provides multidisciplinary education in conjunction with Algonquin College in diverse, yet connected, subject matter such as: computer animation and video effects, game design and development, virtual reality systems, graphic design, 3D visualization, human computer interaction (HCI), and electronic commerce.
Student's education focuses on the entire design process from initial concept all the way through to final realisation. The IMD program is aimed at students who have a potential for being artistically creative and technologically adept; students who have a keen interest in designing the next generation of multimedia rich applications and products.
Within the School of Information Technology, Flying Bison Studio is formed by six IMD students with the goal of creating a motion capture learning centre website that will allow other students and professionals alike to become familiar with, and use, an industry-standard motion capture system. The centre will walk through all of the necessary steps to guide the user through the motion capture system from initial calibration to final production. By April of 2013, the learning centre will be fully operational and accessible to everyone.
We welcome you all to follow along with us as we develop this project.
