“So, after negotiations with my daughter over what pet she wanted me to get, I am now the proud owner of ‘Passionfruit’, who is a seven inch from head to tail, white and grey rat. Maybe she’s cuter than a tarantula or snake, but Jesus Christ, I still find it weird. I mean... there is a rat in my apartment. Today was my first morning with her there, and I walked into my lounge room to find a rat staring out her cage at me- literally scared the shit out of me.”
“Hi um, yeah, excuse me,” Ryan called out as he rushed up to someone. He raised his hand, a wallet/purse in it. “You dropped this back there.”
“Shit, thanks, man. Oh, God, that would’ve sucked if I lost that...”
“I’ve just read an entire book in one sitting, I’m not sure if that counts as a productive day or not”
“It’s more than I’ve ever read in one day, so I’d say probably.”
“No matter how many days go by today will never be any easier.”
“You, uh... you okay, man?”
Grayson grinned at Flynn, remembering how they essentially started hanging out because of their meeting at Walmart. Never has he thanked a store more. “Yeah Have you seen their recent stuff? They’re stepping up their game! When I was younger, I used to hate shopping at Walmart, I always wanted to go to the Mall but now Walmart has better stuff than the mall sometimes.” Grayson shrugged. “Ralph Lauren?” Grayson acted repulsed. “Get with the times Flynn, you’re lacking here!” he reached a hand out, tugging on Flynn’s shirt playfully. “The only thing you’ve got right is your hair.” He teased, always ready to run his hands through it on spot.
In fact, that’s exactly what he did. He ran his hand through Flynn’s hair. “You look sexy with your hair pushed back.” Grayson quoted mean girls. “Oh please do.” Grayson grinned at Flynn’s flirting. “Should I bring up now that I also love body shots?” Grayson wriggled his eyebrows as a semi-offering. He definitely wouldn’t mind licking a line of salt off of Flynn’s body before getting to the tequlia. “Getting fucked up is the only option.” Grayson personally wanted to get drunk and climb onto fly– okay he shouldn’t go there. “Fireball, good choice.” Grayson nodded in respect. “I think I’ll actually go for some fireball too, I don’t wanna get fucked up before you do.” he had already taken a shot or two before Flynn came by to get him loose. Liquid courage did wonders.
“They’re going checkered flannel this year. Red and black, a classic with a twist, they’re adding just a touch of black sparkles.” Grayson spit whatever bullshit came to mind first. Though if Walmart did happen to come out with something like that in the near future, he would claim that he was definitely a psychic. “Hey? The dollar store is still good Flynn! You never know what kinda good shit you can get for only a dollar! It’s my third favorite store, the liquor store being my second favorite.” He grinned at the other. “Maybe I should take you thrift shopping and see how you like that.” It sounded like something that could be fun. Grayson bit his lower lip as Flynn stretched out. The man may be older than him by a bit but he was still incredibly good looking. His body certainly looked delectable. “Well today’s your lucky day then.” And hopefully his. Recently Grayson hadn’t so much as even made out with anyone as to not hurt his chances with Flynn or Dax. It seemed like he just may have to have a one off before he got up the courage to really talk to the two. “It’s a good thing I’ve got a great bed. Very spacious. You can crash with me.” He offered. If not, he would take the couch. He wasn’t a jerk or anything and he guessed that it may seem romantic to give up his bed for Flynn. But if he was being honest, he’d much rather share it. “Anyway I’ll be right back.” He got up, heading to the kitchen for the salt and lemons. He was now happy that he had suddenly felt the urge to be fancy and drink water with lemon slices the other day when a commercial had come on tv. He hummed happily as he grabbed two lemons, slicing them up and putting them into a plate before grabbing the salt and heading back. “Okay, do you prefer to do this half sober or sloshed?” Grayson chuckled. He got that some may feel awkward being sober for body shots but for him he’s like to fully remember any interaction he has with Flynns body.
“Red and black flannel? Wow. That’s hot.” Flynn joked, shaking his head. “Shit, man, the dollar store still freaks me the fuck out- walmart was one thing, but it’s gotta be baby steps,” He joked, clicking his tongue. At Grayson’s comment, Flynn gave him a look of mock-irritation, shaking his head. “Shut up, man- Yeah, my hair may be fabulous, but the rest of me’s still pretty fucking fabulous as well.” He pulled a dramatic pose, just for the sake of emphasising his words.
When Grayson mentioned sharing the bed, Flynn couldn’t help himself from smirking at that for just a moment. “I mean, if a spacious bed’s on offer, I’m not gonna say no to that. Unless I end up breaking that with how ridiculously big my body is.” Flynn’s frame was, after all, large- tall, well built and broad, so he hoped there would actually be enough room for him.
“Hmm, I think maybe I need some more dutch courage beforehand,” Flynn tipped Grayson a wink, helping himself to another shot of fireball. Despite his pride and cockiness, he still felt an unmistakeable twinge of nervousness.
“I don’t..” Dakota trailed off, scratching his cheek now that he knew it was Flynn. “I’m okay, don’t worry about it.” Dakota couldn’t tell Flynn because then Flynn would most definitely tell Zac and he did not want to worry his boyfriend. He hated keeping things from Zac but it was best to not involve him in this problem as it would probably escalate things even more. “Thanks.” Dakota smiled, accepting the lighter and bringing it to the end of his cigarette. he lit the end, dragging until smoke filled his lungs. He exhaled and handed the lighter back over. “Just a headache.” He lied. He was quite good at lying as he had years of practice to seem okay when he wasn’t.
A few months ago, Flynn wouldn’t have even given it a second thought- God knows that he himself would turn to substances that weren’t the healthiest so that he could cloud his mind and avoid confronting his feelings. But, though he often hid it under the cocky exterior that he still possessed, Flynn had undoubtedly matured. And he knew something was wrong here; that much was obvious. “Look, uh,” Flynn paused, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly as he took the lighter back. “You sure you don’t wanna do something that’s... not smoking? I feel like in the long run, it’s not gonna help if you have a headache. Sure you don’t wanna get some food or something?” He suspected that the headache was bullshit, since it was an excuse he himself had used to hide his anguish in the past, but Flynn wasn’t exactly skilled at confronting sensitive topics, so instead he was trying to deflect.
“I’m asexual,” Dax starts, softly at first, in public, to whoever’s around to hear it. “I am asexual and I literally do not give a fuck!” he proclaims in a sing-songy tone, heaving it off his chest, as his friend Nick had inspired him to do. “Damn, that felt good,” he says, letting out a light laugh. “Whoo!”
“Hey, congrats, man,” Flynn said sincerely, offering Dax a grin. “Pretty awesome that you’re able to say that. You should be proud’a who you are.”
Dakota wasn’t one to smoke cigarretts- he didn’t like how they dried his mouth out or gave him a nasty taste on his tongue. Despite that, he had given into his stress. He needed some sort of outlet from the anxiety in his veins.

“I didn’t know you smoked, man,” Flynn looked over at Dakota in surprise. “You... uh, you okay?” He looked a bit stressed, which made Flynn wonder if stress was driving the younger man to smoke. Still, he pulled a lighter from the pocket of his jacket, offering it to Dakota.

“I’ve got the insiders exclusive for their winter collection since I’m such an Avid advocate.” Grayson continued, casually eyeing Flynn up and down as the other stretched. “That’s good, I’m glad that you were able to open up your mind to it. I’m actually genuinely proud of you.” Grayson smiled. He knew that Flynn wasn’t always this way so he would always show that he was proud of any and all progress he made. “I can tell- don’t worry, I’m appreciating it.” Grayson was unashamed in his eyes roaming once more. “I fully agree with that statement.” That’s as obvious as he could get when it came to expressing his attraction to Flynn. When Flynn didn’t object to Grayson’s hand in his hair, he continued his ministrations. Again- how obvious could he be? “Oh really?” Grayson’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline. “Well then I’ll break out the lemons and salt, you crack open the tequila.” Grayson was not going to turn down the change to get his tongue on flynns body that’s for sure. Grayson clinked his shot glass with Flynns, downing his shot. He set his glass down with a contented sigh and turns to Flynn. “So approximately how fucked up do you wanna get tonight?”
“Oh, really? So, what kinds of plaid button downs are they gonna make this winter?” Flynn teased, chuckling. “Well, thanks, man. I mean, I’m still not gonna be shopping at a dollar store any time soon,” He joked, feigning a dramatic shudder at that.
“Sounds like a good plan to me,” Flynn stretched out on the couch, making himself comfortable and looking over at Grayson. “Been way too long since I’ve done Body shots. And, y’know... doing body shots with you- how could I resist that?”
“Hmm, I dunno. I mean, if I get super drunk and pass out, I don’t know that your couch is big enough to hold me,” He half-joked, downing his own shot briskly and blinking as the alcohol sent his head spinning.
flynn–casey:
“Dude, I have no fucking clue. I didn’t even know anyone would want a pet eel until now. It’s… ugh, it’s gross. Eeels are like creepy slimy snakes.”
“I have heard of people getting some strange pets but that one really takes the cake. That’s a good way to explain them,maybe you should tell her that eels aren’t pets at all.”
The problem is, she’s gone and googled this shit and found that people do have eels as pets, so I can’t even use that as an excuse.

“Wait, really? You do, man? What, uh, what are they like? Aren’t you worried that the snake is gonna… eat you?”
“They’re technically class pets, but I take care of them, and have had them for years. They’re both pretty easygoing and I’m not the least bit afraid of my snake. There’s really nothing to be afraid of.”
Oh... uh, really? I just can’t imagine that. Maybe because I’ve never really interacted with reptiles.

Hey, I mean, she’s super interested in science so I guess it’s fair enough she likes weird animals? I dunno… but yeah, a reptile’s definitely better than a spider or a fuckin’ eel. But what if I got a snake and it… like… ate me? Don’t they do that shit? Where they stretch their mouths? Maybe I’ll get her a lizard.
Hey at least she has brains. Where’d she get that from? The mother? I tease, I tease. Mm yeah get a snake. What? Dude, you can get ones that are like tiny. Don’t get a fucking python. But if you’re not cool with that get her some cool lizard, either what you got to feed them like bugs or dead rats or whatever. You sure she doesn’t want a hamster or something more normal? Maybe a mouse, you know, save it from being fed to the snake.
Shut up, I’m smart too, man... okay, maybe her Mom is a lawyer, though, which is probably where she got some of her brains from, not gonna lie. I dunno, I just... don’t want a snake in my apartment, what if I woke up and the thing had got out its cage and was in my bed or something? I mean, a hamster could work. She said definitely not a cat or dog, God knows why. Or a mouse. Hell, I’d be willing to get her a rat if it meant not having some creepy thing in my house.

See, a bunny would be great, but I don’t know if an apartment’s a good place for a bunny- it’d need a hutch and stuff, right?

I thought I’d be a great Dad and get a pet so that when Thea comes over on weekends, it could technically be her pet, because she wants one but her Mom hates animals. Of course, I asked her what animal she’d most like- y’know, expecting a cat or a dog. But no. She gave me a list of the following things she’d want, for me to choose from; A snake, a lizard, a tarantula or an eel. All of which I hate. And who the fuck has a pet eel?
