while i hope the AI boom dies out i also hope we start acknowledging data center water overconsumption as it's own unique issue because like. it's not AI itself that harms the environment it's the hardware hosting it, right? same reason nfts and cryptocurrency were also bad for the environment. the root problem isn't going away so long as we allow big companies to continue hitching their wagon to the next big tech trend. i worry if they don't get stronger regulation we'll just be repeating the same issue whenever the next toy comes along.

There's no evil stepmother, only Crowley making Yuu work overtime so they can't go to the ball that Deuce and the rest of the firstie gang already promised they're going to meet them at
Ace, the last member of the firstie gang, had been bragging about the ball in his honour for months, but we all know the only one he wants to meet at the ball and fall in love with is Yuu-
Anyway, Grim runs to the firstie gang and tell them about big bad evil Crowley not letting Yuu go to the ball where Ace said he'd make sure there'd be tuna (as an incentive for Grim to drag Yuu to the ball. As though he'd ever admit that tho)
Sebek grabs one of his old suits, give it to Yuu, Ortho makes a few alterations and then it's carriage time
Epel turns an apple into a carriage and Jack calls a favour from Ruggie for horses. Ruggie buys six with Leona's card and off they go
However, all of their seniors are at the ball. Except for Idia. So the ball turns into a game of dodge the senior for Epel while Ace speedily sneaks over to Yuu (rather conspicuously)
The others are giving Aceyuu alone time while also hiding Epel. So then Ace and Yuu start talking shit which leads into a dance which leads into a balcony date which nearly leads into a kiss- had Crewel not burst the door open at the critical moment
Because Crewel was going to take Yuu to the ball (screw that old crow), he had gone to Yuu's office earlier but they'd already left. So he suspected the usual gang of mutts had taken his kid to the ball wearing something probably less than subpar, so here he was with a new outfit
AND NOW ACE IS KISSING YUU?! GIVE ONE GOOD REASON, OTHERWISE PRINCE OR NOT, YOU'RE GETTING YEETED OFF THE BALCONY
Ace and Yuu flee, dropping Yuu's shoe. Yuu runs back to the carriage before Ace notices their shoe is gone
He goes back later to find his brother dangling Yuu's boot from his hand with a shit eating grin (HOW DID THAT DROP OFF?!)
Ace drops by Yuu's flat the next day to return the shoe and give them the letter of engagement his brother had hidden in the boot. Not funny, bro
Ace makes a big deal about 'Well, we'd better get married now- who else would want plain, cute ol' you?'
Yuu: 'what was that-'
And they get married. Ortho wins the bet that they'd get together finally by summer. He is rolling in the dough.
Honestly? I really like the idea of this being a really weird dream Ace has Lost in the Book style. Maybe he had too much to eat, maybe he's sick and took some twisted nyquil, maybe he's been knocked unconscious; for some reason he's dreaming up a completely unrealistic scenario of there being some sort of ball where he is being honored for winning some sort of prize and Yuu has to sneak in because nothing is ever fair for them, they get all dressed up and he gets to kiss them, and everyone else gets to be a supporting role in a feel good story that's guaranteed a happy ending.
And then he has to wake up because he missed his alarm and he's even more embarrassed than usual for some reason huh, maybe Yuu should ask him about it.
I truly don't get why the common stereotype of tank/healer MMO couples is surly toughguy tank and anxious people-pleaser healer because every time I queue in as a healer I can feel myself physically turning into the devil

the issue with writing for yourself is that you will get sucked into rereading your own fic over and over and pretend it’s “editing,” but really you’re just reading because it’s exactly what you want to read. because you wrote it. for you.

I couldn't figure out why this was a problem until I got to the end where you don't get to the end.
affirmations for writers: i know how to write. i have seen sentences before, and i know how to make one. i can identify up to several words and their meanings. i am not afraid of semicolons.
My average writing experience:

*Google doc grows second health bar and a choir starts singing in latin*
Ace and Yuu having a movie night every now and then. No Grim, no Deuce, no homework. Just them two. In each other's arms and covered by a blanket.
It's easy to lie to yourself when you're having fun.
"It's not weird," he laughs throwing an arm around your shoulder (to reach for the blanket you tell yourself) "Deuce and I do this all of the time."
He's not lying. It's not lying because he watches movies with Deuce all of the time. It's not lying because they did share a blanket that one time.
It is lying because he didn't want to do that though. It is lying because there's no room for the rules between the two of you. Your head lays on his shoulder and his hand falls onto your thigh that he strokes with his thumb.
He's not lying next to you for nothing after all.
