The Dax symbiont is passed to the next host
Dax pays a visit to their old friend, the renowned author, Jake Sisko
"Dax, what are you doing here?"
"the last host of mine to not know your father was Joran. And, well, no one wants a repeat of that. I think Siskos may be my good luck charm"
we cut to a montage wherein the first thing Dax does in every lifetime once left to their own devices is to go find Benjamin's closest living descendent. Sometimes they become friends. Sometimes, best friends. Once, they even married, but that's a story for another time. Sometimes, they have a dinner, check in, then go their separate ways.
But as long as every Dax has a Sisko, nothing like Joran ever happens again.
And every Sisko knows, once in a generation, right when they need it the most, to expect a knock at the door. Every Sisko knows to look forward to their next visit from an old friend, from The Old Man.

I was listening to the new Mitski album and realized this is their song actually, like they own it now, sorry.
Underrated Ben Sisko moment was when he spent the first 7 and a half episodes insisting Jadzia was still his same old friend Dax even if she looked different now, then IMMEDIATELY switched to "Jadzia Dax? I hardly know her! ComPLETEly different people" when the Klaestron government tried to extradite her to stand trial for crimes allegedly committed by Curzon Dax.
Dax was born in 2018. Their first host was Lela in 2168. Curzon was the seventh host and joined in 2286. Jadzia was the eighth host and joined in 2367. Ezri was the ninth host and joined in 2375. That means that not only was Curzon the longest host at 81 years, but that Dax went though 6 different hosts in just 118 years. That's an average of one host every 19 years. Take out bad boy Joran (who was only host for six months) and that's still just an average of 23 years.
Damn, Dax, what the fuck were you doing to your hosts before Curzon arrived?
