1. I used to avoid the smut areas of fandoms because I was horrendously embarrassed to see the smut words. I’ve long since grown past that obviously XD hell I was embarrassed to even write smut so I used to censor my own fics wheeze
2. I’m actually incredibly shy 90% of the time. But im really good at braving outside my bubble.
3. Ironically jester wasn’t my favorite when I started the game, I actually had mixed feelings on much of the cast. Many of them grew on me the more k played and learned. Jester did scare me as much as he aroused me XD
2. Used to also be very paranoid and scared about smut and fetish but along the way I opened myself up and found out a lot about myself this past year.
3. TFC will be the first time I buy a body pillow and I'm so scared because I feel like the character will laugh at me from beyond. I can feel Harley teasing me already through the screen already @~@
Ever since my original mask theory, I have tossed around more ideas related to the props. When the new comic, involving their new costumes, came out, I had even more thoughts, if you can believe it. A certain post has now brought up more interesting ideas related to the old ones I've thrown around before.
The theory I made before on their masks... their masks are more than just a 'mask' in the basic sense. I go into some depth in that post, so I recommend reading it before going forward, but it is not necessary.

The masks have always fascinated me, which brought about my first mask theory. The masks are a strange, but important aspect. They changed their clothing AND changed their masks. We see the different designs from the first costumes to the current outfits after Pierrot's 'outburst'. We know they can manipulate the masks to make them highly expressive. Their eyes disappear after all - we see it in Pierrot's case and TicTak's(Ticket Taker). We see their smiles with 'teeth', eyes that narrow, mouths that 'open'. We see so many examples of these masks being so expressive. How though?
These masks are special because they are mixed with something - bones.
Monsters have their own funeral rites. The one practice shared across monster cultures is: NEVER leave their bones, especially the skulls. The question above was asked about monsters and funerals that Neko answered on the official TFC Tumblr. It provided a certain level of importance to the bones. Monsters might bury them elsewhere, but that is not guaranteed to keep humans away. Humans have desecrated their bones time and time again by putting them on display and/or making them trophies.
By those worries, who's to say they did not incorporate the bone dust into something else to keep close? What could be closer and more meaningful than a mask?
If monsters refuse to abandon the remains of their loved ones, then incorporating those remains into something worn and constantly kept nearby would make sense culturally and emotionally.
It is not unheard of for cultures to add bone ash, bone dust, cremated remains, etc., to props, glasses, urns, jewelry, etc. There are numerous forms to allow for the different ways of grieving the loss of a family/loved one(s).
Grief is a multifaceted response to loss.
The circus members did lose someone of importance to them. They were all family and bonded through the hell of the circus the man put them in and through the time they spent together. The moonless night event was the peak of the troupe's desperation, which led to the devouring of Columbina, and was not without consequence. They ate her to survive- to live- to stay alive. A stress response.
Responses differ from individual to individual since the variables of influence are strong and diverse, such as personality, family, culture, spiritual and religious beliefs and practices. We know Columbina is very intertwined in the circus to the present day. The fools have her color, the stories told, the angel.
The 'angel' persona the troupe has bestowed on Columbina is a grief response. It is a type of grief response that elevates the deceased individual to a higher standing. As they did with Columbina being an 'angel' while mirroring a 'sacrifice'.
This can be seen as a “Martyrdom Effect”: when a death is perceived as a noble sacrifice or martyrdom. It can become easier to derive meaning from the loss, which is a key factor in reducing long-term trauma. The death is reframed as purposeful, albeit deeply painful. This reframing serves a psychological purpose. Meaning can soften guilt. Reverence can soften horror. By elevating Columbina’s status after death, the troupe may have found a way to continue living with what happened rather than being completely destroyed by it.
The 'angel' persona, then, may not simply be theatrical symbolism. It may be the troupe’s attempt to transform unbearable grief into something sacred.
And by which, they incorporated her in various ways, including making sure her bones were kept close. Her death would not be in vain; her remains would not be desecrated. Each monster species have their own ways of dealing with death, and we know TicTak and Bobo(Jester) were the ones who designed the costumes, tents, the circus itself. Perhaps the masks were the ones from the circus before, or maybe the masks themselves are made of bones rather than just mixed in or dusted/ coated in the remains. It might be part of the culture of Bobo or TicTak to incorporate the remains into personal aspects.
This may also explain the masks’ level of expression. If monster bone dust or remains were incorporated into them, then the masks may not be entirely inanimate objects. Perhaps abilities can extend through preserved remains, allowing the masks to shift, emote, or react as though something within them still lingers. It opens numerous possibilities regarding the extent of monster abilities, how far they can persist after death, and whether remnants of a monster can continue expressing themselves through objects tied to them.
In that context, the masks stop being a simple prop of secrecy and become a permanent reminder. A means of protecting what was lost.
At its core, the troupe’s actions can be interpreted as an attempt to survive psychologically as much as physically. They mourned. They honored. They adapted. The Moonless Night forced them into an act of desperation and trauma, yet they continued forward, carrying Columbina with them rather than leaving her behind. The masks, the stories, the colors, and the angel imagery all suggest the same thing: grief that was never discarded, only transformed into something the troupe could continue living beside.
At the end, it is a way to protect what they lost. Mourn and honor their lost family member while trying to cope with the traumatizing event of the past. They adapted. They mourned. They continued.

Anyways been seeing a lot of creature designs and Jester's 4 horns always bothered me because he already has horns under his mask, so that would make it 6?? Which is a lot! So i thought -what if they're not all horns?
i've been writing (admittedly very slow) jester isekaiing into another world with my version of MC and I never knew what Jester really was? I headcanon him as being a parasite or some sort of parasitic animal such as a leech because he kind of gives off that vibe.
I saw someone making a post of Harley potentially being a plant creature or using his environment to his advantage (such as the leaf mantis) which makes so much sense for his character?? always lurking and hiding about even Pierrot not noticing him?? that got me fucked up! so what if Jester was a little funky too?
His "horns" are more like tentacles like Harley's except they don't move on their own. I notices his jester hat was much longer than others and it seems like a waste of material to have it that long if he doesn't need it unless he does? His tips also squiggle a lil bit which made me think of tentacles or extra appendages.
These would be to detect heat change, vibrations or maybe form a shield behind him if a predator attacks from behind, it felt like it would go with his character well since he's so distrusting of people, literally a "don't stab me in the back" type of defense mechanism.

Speculative biology in world-building is often my favorite part when designing creatures or eating up monsters in media and neko leaves a lot of bread crumbs to speculate with. This is just my fan theory let me know if you agree or disagree with my thoughts!

So i was thinking about mating processes of TFC, specifically with harley bc i love him, I wanted to draw it based on research and my own little idea that i thought would be fun.
I draw on Krita so i was going to draw over his anatomy to save myself time only to find out my brush just...gets stuck? like it won't be a brush.
I restarted my computer and even reinstalled Krita and IT STILL DOES IT. I did NOTHING. I left it there and didn't touch it SINCE I POSTED IT.
Except I found it it's only on HIS LAYER, every one of my layers with other comics or drawing (because it's all in one) are absolutely fine and i can draw on them, even in other files i can draw, it's literally and specifically only this layer of HIS anatomy and i feel like that's him somehow being a gremlin beyond the universes??
It's giving when Neko had trouble with Harley appearing in other cutscenes and I almost feel happy, but also please let me fucking draw your mating process you sizzle wag fuck nut.
AO3 should have an Annotation Mode where you can click to view all of the author's commentary and thoughts about certain parts of the work. A little comment that says "I spent five hours researching vintage radio mechanics for this and didn't even end up using it" or "this is an ancient Hebrew literary technique!" would make my day
So, one way to do this using HTML on Ao3 is to use the author notes, combined with links & mouseover text - some instructions under the readmore.
In order of the way each element will appear on the page:
First:

This is the reference for where on the page the reader will be taken back to after reading the note, I usually put it at the top of the paragraph, or the paragraph before the one I have the note in, so it feels a bit nicer. If I have multiple in one paragraph, you can use the same one but you can see that I didn't below, lol.
Second:

This is the mouseover text and also the part of the text that gets hovered over. The title is whatever your note or annotation is, inside the quotes. I tend to go for superscript numbers in square brackets to go with the footnote vibe, but you can also have it as the normal text of the fic and take out the <sup> tags.
Third:

This goes in the author's note (or anywhere ig, but this is easiest to keep at the bottom) and is where the link on the second part takes you. The note/annotation is here again and is visible to readers who can't use the mouseover text for whatever reason, e.g. mobile and I think screen readers? We also include a link back to the text that the annotation was in, which takes us back up to the first code snippet. I have mouseover text saying 'return to text' and then an icon but again, you can do whatever you want. I also surround all the notes with <ol> and <li> tags to make it a list, which you can see better below.
Additionally, the variable names/references all up to you, but make sure they are different and consistent (and different across chapters). The first code snippet is named 'back1', and is referenced in the third snippet with href="#back1". Similarly, the third snippet is named "note1" and is referenced by the second snippet with href="#note1".
If you don't match these up, your annotations won't match up properly or may not even work at all. The mouseover text should still work though. It is also important to continue numbering across chapters because, if you start your notes back at 1 each time, then if someone is reading the entire work, the links will also be broken/only taking them to the first note of the work, rather than the first note of the third chapter, for example.
And here is an example of my opening paragraph from one of my fics so you can see them used in context:

So there you have one way to do annotations or commentary, it's pretty straightforward as long as you keep track of your numbers, and works for both mobile and desktop, and also works independently of skins. You can also achieve similar results using work skins, I believe, which has been mentioned in some of the other reblogs, but I can't say I've tried that method.

Sometimes i look at how people on the internet talk and despite me being in the internet for most of my life, i do not know HALF of the WAFFLE i fucking see on here. It feels like America injected itself into the veins, and my phone has long covid.
Jester is a character who intrigues me and whom I don't quite understand. At first, I was almost certain he would end up being the "villain," who had precisely manipulated everything to remain in command, as the leader, gaining everyone's trust and reverence, especially that of the strongest (Pierrot), and turning Harlequin into the "scapegoat." Especially because of what we see in Columbine's mirror (which I'm still not clear on—is it her as a ghostly presence or the TT version of the story? I thought it was the latter, but most people seem to treat it as "the Columbine version," so now I don't know, haha, I'm confused).
That comma is just too suspicious… many think it refers to Jester saying he would give Pierrot his own flesh to feed him, but with the comma there, it seems more like he's giving an order? Although it could also be that, being weak, the comma means he's taking a moment to speak because it's difficult for him (but wouldn't it be more appropriate to use (…) in that case? idk)
Then… the fact that when Harlequin kills Columbina, he only says
Everyone else seems affected, shocked, reacting as if they hadn't expected it…but not Jester. He's calmer…as if he already knew it was going to happen.
But what made me doubt him the most and believe for a long time that he was definitely going to be "the bad guy" was when Jester apologized to Harlequin…I mean, why would he apologize to him?
I couldn't help but think that Jester (if he has the ability to control minds) had used this ability to control Harlequin and thus carry out his plan (1. Because he, himself could no longer move, and/or 2. This way, all the blame would fall on Harlequin, Pierrot's hatred would be directed at him, and Jester could retain/gain Pierrot's respect and loyalty, who, as I mentioned, is the strongest member of the group and therefore extremely convenient).
And the final nail in the coffin of my theory was Columbina saying the following:
I thought she obviously meant that Jester didn't feel bad about what he had done, that the forgiveness he asked Harlequin for wasn't sincere…
But now I have another theory… I've started to see Jester differently. Where I firmly believed that Jester would end up being a villain like Mother Gothel/Rika from Mystic Messenger, I think he might be more like Triton from The Little Mermaid or Lucifer from Obey Me xd hahaha okay let me explain.
Do I still think Jester is a manipulator? Yes, but I'm no longer 100% sure he does it with the intentions I initially thought. After certain comments Neko has made about Jester's character and the way he relates to his "family," I think he truly loves them in his own way, that his manipulation isn't intended to harm them (and if it did, it would be unintentional), but rather that he seeks to protect them in his own way, or in the way he believes is right (being aware that this is forged by years of abuse, which obviously makes him biased). While what I mentioned above about Jester manipulating Harlequin to devour Columbine might have happened, I don't believe he did it to make Harlequin the only culprit so he could be free of blame in the eyes of the others and take command, gaining the complete devotion and blind loyalty of the other members, damn it! Now I even think the only reason Harlequin took on the role of villain was because Jester truly couldn't move back then… I think that perhaps if things had been different, either 1. As many others have mentioned, he would have let Pierrot devour him (perhaps so that he would gain strength and, being the strongest, could save the others?) or 2. He would have taken on the villain role that Harlequin did, being the one who sacrificed Columbine (heck, now I even think that maybe there wasn't any use of mind control abilities; perhaps Jester and Harlequin, before being locked up, talked about possible ways to escape… and Harlequin, seeing that Jester (and the others) were no longer able to move (but he could), decided to take the only option he saw as viable at that moment).
So, what did Columbina mean when she said “He wasn’t”? I think maybe she wasn't responding to Jester, but to Pierrot.
Because these are the previous dialogues.
Columbina's first "No" comes after Pierrot asks, "Why are you smiling?"
And then we cut to Harley's crazy laughter (which, if you ask me, starts like when you're about to write a sob, but I don't know, haha).
And then Columbina continues with, "He wasn't."
I think Columbina was actually answering Pierrot, saying, "No. He wasn't smiling (he was crying)."
So, if this were the case, why would Jester be asking Harlequin for forgiveness?
Because Jester knew that Harlequin had been cornered into making the most difficult decision of all, to bear the heaviest burden of guilt (and perhaps the original plan was for Jester to "sacrifice" himself in some way (either feeding Pierrot or him being the one killing Columbina), but now, being unable to move, that role had to be taken by Harlequin; perhaps that's why he asked for forgiveness, because he somehow felt he had failed him and had left him no other option but being the one who carried all the blame).
And... honestly, I don't know what I'm trying to say with all this other than that I'm very confused about Jester's character, lol.
I don't know what his true intentions are; maybe both interpretations I made of him are wrong, but who knows... only time will tell.
I really want to believe that this second version I have of him is the closest to reality :c I think it would break Pierrot's heart (and TT's and Doctor's too xd maybe) if it were any other way. Besides, Harlequin, being the youngest and yet making his own decision without any kind of manipulation or mind control to take on the role of villain in order to save everyone else (yes, even Columbina; maybe at that moment that was the only way to fulfill her request to save her) and carrying all that hatred and guilt of his own free will, would have more weight for me, it would be more cruel and painful, and that fascinates me xd
Well, these are just my theories?? Observations? Analysis? I honestly have no idea what this is… and I also have no idea if anyone actually made it this far, but if you did, thank you, you deserve a prize (for wasting your time on this pointless nonsense I just made up xd).
