I just wanted to say I had a really great time participating in fma 2003 week and seeing everything that everyone else did for it! (Especially getting to celebrate CoS's anniversary) thank you for putting it together!!

FMA Appreciation Week - Day 7 - Conqueror of Shambala

After seeing all the great posts about CoS, I really want to stay up until midnight writing an essay about CoS and how amazing it was that this movie even got made. This movie has so many truly sad moments. The filmmakers must have had ambitions to explore all the complicated emotional issues of the original anime. Yes, it is an animated adventure movie, and yes, you can clearly recognize a couple of villains as stereotypical evildoers, but all your heroes are morally gray, everybody is more tragic than Hamlet, the nice guy dies (again), and there is no happy ending for anyone.

I am inspired to watch Conqueror of Shambala again, and then I hope to write my essay about this great, flawed movie. Tonight, however, I have a cold, and I need to go to bed early and get my rest, but here at least is the illustration that I was going to use with the essay.

Happy 10th anniversary of Conqueror of Shamballa, everybody! 

This was such a beautiful movie - the colors were appropriately dulled, the conflict was perfect, ROYED ANGST, Al with a ponytail, Alfons H. was such a fantastic character. UGH. 

 I’ve been wanting to cosplay this version of Ed for years, and I finally did a test the other night just in time! 

 (The dark circles are really intense, I know; that’s exactly what I was going for!)
