fmdruan:
ruan had slipped out early into the prep for their stage, having been one of the first to have had her makeup and hair done, her stage outfit already zipped and ready to go, minus a mic, under the coat she had thrown on. there was too much nervous energy in her body to let her sit still inside, or even practice some of the dance moves from their song, be productive somehow. it was why, with hands shaking from the cold, she lit a cigarette outside, trying to curb some of it with anything she could think of that would help, worries bubbling up about their stage, their songs, the company. her head snapped around when she heard a door open, carefully watching for a manager. ready to stamp out the cig if need be ( hardly worth the effort, as she couldn’t rid herself of the smoke smell so quickly ) she relaxed once she saw it wasn’t anyone with much authority over her, the tension releasing from her shoulders more quickly.
“sorry.” the apology wasn’t fully genuine, hardly sounded like she really regretted it — because truthfully, she didn’t. to her, it was the least bad of her other outlets at the moment, though that didn’t mean she wanted to subject other people to her bad habit. “i’ll put it out if you don’t tell my manager?”
jeongsan simply needed to get away from all the noise. although he’d grown used to it throughout his time as an idol and it usually didn’t bother him, it could still become overwhelming from time to time; especially when he could hear fellow idols from far-off rooms belting out their songs while getting ready. or when his own members seemed to want to talk just a little too much, and he wasn’t in the mood. or when staff members became too nit-picky, too perfectionistic, and he wanted to cut their hands off if they s— ...
yeah, it could be overwhelming.
that was why he had slipped outside. one quick glance around allowed him to see ruan and the cigarette smoke floating nearby. “ruan.” her name left his lips in a short, surprised statement; he wasn’t used to seeing her smoke, especially not in a place so risky. but he saw it as an opportunity. “i mean... you don’t have to put it out. you got any left? if you’re willing to spare one, i won’t tell.” it wasn’t entirely true -- he wouldn’t tell regardless of if she gave him a cigarette or not. he had too many bad habits of his own to justify ratting someone else out, but he had to try, at least. in hopes of being a little more persuasive, he offered his trademark shark-grin, sharp teeth and dimples making a cameo in please give me a smoke, starring son jeongsan and zhang yanan.
