rainy day; |
sungyeol’s fingers gripped the umbrella’s handle tightly, eyes staring ahead as he stood by the bus stop. it wasn’t that he didn’t have the money or resources to drive or be driven to where ever he pleased, but a part of him enjoyed the simplicity of public transport.
if only it wasn’t raining, though.
he slowly reached out a hand, faced his palm up, and felt the droplets of water against his skin. it was a cool day outside, a sweater and a jacket graced him for warmth. the chilling water in a way though, hammering against the flesh of his hand, was soothing. his eyes slowly blinked, and he wondered for a moment if buses ran in weather like this…
maybe he’ll just walk.
he brought his hand back, and carelessly wiped the went off on his coat, before slipping his fingers into his pocket and turning to walk. his steps were long due to his legs, so he covered ground quick enough. all he really needed to do was get to that coffee shop on 3rd street. his favorite shop. they were the only one’s to make his favorite coffee coco mix correctly.
he was about to turn corner, when someone literally walked into him. he stumbled slightly, but caught the figure in his arms, his umbrella dropping to the ground. his hair now getting plastered to his face, he looked down in mild surprise, as the person looked back at him.
it was moments such as this that made her curse her oh so very unfortunate luck. when everything around became downright ‘stupid’ in her mind-- from the stupid rain that decided to pour down on her as soon as she stepped out of her home, to her stupid umbrella that couldn’t even hold against the wind & broke, or the stupid cars and their stupid flickering headlights that mocked her pitiful state each time they drove by-- taunting her for the soaked clothings that barely covered enough to offer any sort of warmth. for the damp strands of her wet hair that slightly teased at the side of her cheeks. for the faint purple that began coloring her cold lips.-- she was drenched from head to toe & freezing to her bones. ( yet looked nothing short of a beautiful mess caught in a storm. )
frustration slowly built with each step she made, & the way the pavement became all too slippery beneath her heels surely was not of any help. she began pondering whether the day could get any worse, and that mere thought made her scoff-- she knew the world had it’s way of giving her free passes to wreak havoc.
“stupid weather.” murmuring endless grumbles she carried on in her way, no rain-- no matter how heavy & ‘stupid’-- was going to make her cower like a wet rat in some hole.
for a moment she was too immersed in her clutter of thoughts to notice the body abruptly appearing infront of her own, a brief second that rid her of any chance to avoid colliding into the figure & being caught in a pair of arms that saved her from a fall.
brown wide orbs gazed down at her-- surprised as she was-- she was sure. but that did nothing to stop her from swatting the arms around her form & responding with a harsh shove. the dazed expression stretched across her visage was quickly replaced with a scowl.
“watch where the hell you’re going!”

The acoustics beyondthe university’s suffocating walls were anything but beneficial to Myungsoo’s playing, but being anywhere else besides under the watchful eye of his music professors was worth the momentary sacrifice to him. There was silence up here on the building’s rooftop (save for the negligible competition with the sparrows in nearby trees) and Myungsoo was content with the privacy he’d sought refuge in many desperate times before. The young composer closed his eyes and gently rested his slender fingers upon the black and white keys for the warm-up, his fingers stretching and gliding over the ivory to a tune he could play in his sleep, and undoubtedly, had done so before: the Arabesque was light, airy, fanciful, and just the kind of relaxing mood he needed to bring himself into in order to coax out the creativity he longed for. The composition he’d needed to write this time was themed “inspiration,” and doubtless, Myungsoo could use much of that himself.
He opened his eyes when a melody arrived to him and reached for the pen and notebook resting beside him on the ground. Myungsoo flipped to one of the unused, blank pages and immediately inked in a swirl of thought-of notes on the staff before they could try to drift away. He pressed his fingers to the keys and, with his dark-eyed gaze resting upon the notes on the page, brought those symbols to life with the piano’s sweet accompaniment. Some combinations of his written notes sounded good to his ears, but others not-so-much. Myungsoo kept writing and re-writing the piece until his slowly-emerging score soon became a thick scrawl of black penmanship that was legible to no one but himself. With more than five pages filled, Myungsoo found relief in the progress and continued, starting his playing over again from the beginning. It was getting easier this time, the music now flowing pieces of harmony reverberating pleasantly inside his head.
(He was on to something this time, he could feel it.)
six months and three weeks. only six months and three weeks remained until she could walk out of the university with a psychologist licence in her grasp. only six months and three weeks of standing infront of a cheap machine, frustratedly waiting for her drink to arrive-- one that would leave only bitter taste in her mouth. she could already feel her claustrophobic tendencies brewing deep in her stomach & it only meant she was having a bad time. all efforts had been put into her studies as of recently-- which happened only when she felt awfully bored (& that itself beckoned a bad sign. ), caffeine was just another way of fooling herself she could get by.
she craved for solitude during such times, seeking fresh air rather than the smothering kind inside the campus halls.-- her feet lead her to the only place offering quietude within reach, dragging & dragging-- only stopping when she stood by the rooftop’s door, frozen in perfect stillness any street performer could admire. it was supposed to be a secluded zone ( or so she thought. ). her ears picked up faint sounds-- urging her to walk through the door to find it’s source. & there he sat-- complete focus etched across his boyish visage, fully concentrated to the point he didn’t even notice her presence-- and that meant something.
she listened as the melodies carried on, brows frowned. eyes narrowed. watching the satisfaction spreading on his face as if he was the son of beethoven, birthing the art of music all over again-- though she would beg to differ.
she sipped her coffee once. twice--
”god, anyone looking at you would think you just came up with a masterpiece.-- this sounds like a bunch of dinky tunes my grandparents wouldn’t even listen to.”
hope i’m not too late for the party-- hello there lovely people and thank you for the welcome messages! i would love love love to plot with each and every single one of you guys and i also look forward to getting to know your precious muses. if you’d like me to sneak into your ask with a msg, please like this and we can get around to come up with a great plot c:
