What's the emergency? Oh, just the first actual footage of 9-1-1: Nashville.
There have been teaser trailers of the anticipated 9-1-1 spinoff, but none have featured any actual shots of the star-studded ensemble — until now. Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive first look at stars Chris O'Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, LeAnn Rimes, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and more in action.
"We form a bond stronger than blood, because ours is a family that is forged in fire," the trailer (above) shows O'Donnell saying.
The NCIS: Los Angeles alum stars on the new ABC series as Capt. Don Hart, whom ABC describes as "a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville's busiest firehouse. Don is a devoted husband and family man, but he has his secrets."
But Don is only somewhat right, because while his 113 firehouse is full of formed family — firefighters Taylor Thompson (Hailey Kilgore), Roxie Alba (Juani Feliz), Blue Bennings (Hunter McVey), and more — it also includes Ryan Hart (Michael Provost), Don's son with businesswoman Blythe Hart (Capshaw).
"Hell of a save, kid," Don tells Ryan at the end of the trailer, the term of endearment meaning a little more coming from dad to son.
But the family ties don't end there. 9-1-1 dispatcher Cammie Raleigh (Williams-Paisley) is Blythe's sister-in-law. And Rimes plays Dixie Bennings, Blue's mother.
9-1-1 showrunner and co-creator Tim Minear has previously told EW that it can be difficult to find ways to regularly integrate characters who are not first responders, but the trailer shows Capshaw's Blythe in close vicinity to what looks like a mobile home trailer dangling from atop a bridge, so it seems like she and Dixie may never be far from the action.
9-1-1: Nashville premieres Thursday, Oct. 9, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
