"God's Love Spreads All Around the World" | English Christian Devotional Song With Lyrics
Verse 1
Almighty God, holy, righteous,
Your love is like snowflakes drifting.
Pure, white, fresh and fragrant,
it floats and melts on me.
Your voice awakens.
Your words tap on my heart.
We hunger and thirst to enjoy Your words.
The truth brings us peace and light.
Chorus
New people, new songs, new dances, new life.
Our lives are filled with joy and sweetness.
Godâs will is done on earth, Christâs kingdom comes.
Godâs love is everywhere,
all around the world,
warming the hearts of millions.
The world is filled with voices praising God.
Verse 2
We live within Your words,
face-to-face with You, God.
Your beauty makes our hearts feel
more connected to You.
Almighty God,
Youâre the truth, way, and life.
Your words are so precious,
and our hearts love them.
Verse 3
Chastisement cleanses our corruption.
Knowing the truth, we care for Your will.
Trials, refinement make
our love for You more pure.
We know Your righteousness,
we see how lovely You are.
When we practice Your words,
joy fills our hearts.
Chorus
New people, new songs, new dances, new life.
Our lives are filled with joy and sweetness.
Godâs will is done on earth, Christâs kingdom comes.
Godâs love is everywhere,
all around the world,
warming the hearts of millions.
The world is filled with voices praising God.
Bridge
I can never stop loving You,
Iâll always bear witness to You.
Iâll be with You day and night,
never apart.
In trials and troubles,
we feel Your love more deeply.
Your words stay with us,
never apart.
We pass through the darkest hour before the dawn.
We welcome the coming of the Sun of righteousness.
Chorus
New people, new songs, new dances, new life.
Our lives are filled with joy and sweetness.
Godâs will is done on earth, Christâs kingdom comes.
Godâs love is everywhere,
all around the world,
warming the hearts of millions.
The world is filled with voices praising God.

Hear Godâs Voice, Welcome the Second Coming of Jesus
By Wu Wen
Have you ever heard of the story of the wolf and the rabbits? Once there lived several little rabbits and a big wolf in a forest.
In order to protect her children from being harmed by the wolf, each time the mother rabbit went out, she would warn her babies to close the door firmly and not to open it until she came back. The baby rabbits were very obedient and smart. Afterward, the wolf knocked at the door imitating the singing of the mother rabbit. The baby rabbits saw through its trick by distinguishing its singing from their motherâs voice. In the end, when their mother came back and knocked at the door, they recognized her through listening to her voice and opened the door happily.
It was because warned by their mother before she left home that the little rabbits were cautious and didnât blindly open the door when they heard the knock. Also, the little rabbits were clever, knowing that they should hear the voice and discern whether the one who knocked at the door was their mother, so they saw through the wolf who disguised as their mother. Thus, they were safe and sound until their mother came back. I think: If the baby rabbits hadnât listened to their motherâs warning and opened the door for the wolf, the consequences would have been unimaginable. However, if they had foolishly followed their motherâs words, guarding against and not opening the door for whoever knocked at it, they would have shut their mother outside when she really came back.
Then, I canât help but remember that the Lord Jesus once warned people two thousand years ago: âAnd then if any man shall say to you, See, here is Christ; or, see, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take you heed: behold, I have foretold you all thingsâ (Mark 13: 21-23).
From this verse, we can see that in the last days, if some people witness that the Lord has returned, we must be careful and canât blindly listen to them. But this doesnât mean that we canât believe anyone who preaches the coming of the Lord. Otherwise we will shut the Christ outside and thus miss the opportunity of welcoming the Lord when He really comes. Moreover, the Lord Jesus has explained it clearly that His intention is to let us guard against false Christs whose main traits are showing signs and performing miracles. We mustnât believe such people when we meet them. But now there are lots of brothers and sisters who donât listen to anyone who preaches the second coming of the Lord for fear of being deceived by false Christs. Isnât this a case of not eating for fear of choking?
It is said in the Book of Revelation: âBehold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with meâ (Revelation 3:20). The Lord Jesus also said: âMy sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow meâ (John 10:27). Moreover, I saw two passages of Godâs words on a gospel website: âAs such, since we are searching for the footprints of God, we must search for Godâs will, for the words of God, for the utterances of Godâfor where there are the new words of God, there is the voice of God, and where there are the footsteps of God, there are the deeds of God. Where there is the expression of God, there is the appearance of God, and where there is the appearance of God, there exists the truth, the way, and the life.â âSo let us seek Godâs will and discover His appearance from His utterances, and follow His footprints! God is the truth, the way, and the life. His words and His appearance exist concurrentlyâŠ.â
From Godâs words, we can see that when the Lord comes again, He will stand at the door and knock. Whether we can welcome Him mainly depends on whether we are able to hear His voice. If we can recognize Godâs voice, we will be able to open our doors to welcome Him so that attend the banquet with Him. So when it comes to the Lordâs second coming, we canât close our doors to guard against those who preach it because of our fear. It is crucial to pay attention to listening to the voice of God.
Just as in the Age of Grace, it was through listening to the words of the Lord Jesus that those believers recognized that the Lord Jesus was the coming Messiah, followed Him, and then welcomed the Messiahâs arrival. For example, in John 1:47-49 it says: âJesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael said to him, From where know you me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before that Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you. Nathanael answered and said to him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.â At first, Nathanael didnât believe that the Lord Jesus was the Messiah. But hearing that the Lord Jesus had known him when he was under the fig tree, he recognized that the Lord Jesus was God Himself and followed Him. Besides, Peter, John and other disciples also recognized Godâs voice through listening to the Lord Jesusâ words. Finally, they received Godâs salvation.
On the contrary, some other Jewish people also knew that the Messiah would come, but they believed the lies of the chief priests and Pharisees and blindly refused without searching for or listening to the utterances and words of the Lord Jesus for fear of being deceived. Ultimately, they lost the salvation of the Lord.
It can be seen that it is very important for us to be able to hear Godâs voice, for it is directly related to whether we can attain Godâs salvation. Especially now, it is a critical time for the return of the Lord, we should even more be the ones who listen to Godâs voice humbly. Just as Revelation says: âHe that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churchesâ (Revelation 2:7).
Bravely Admitting Mistakes, I Gained Godâs Blessings
By Xiaofang, Australia
When I first came to Australia, because of the language barrier, I suffered lots of failures in finding a job: Sometimes, I received no reply after my interview; sometimes, I was turned down directly on the phone. ⊠Faced with such a situation, I felt rather worried: If I fail to find a job, how can I live in this strange country? Because of this, I often couldnât fall asleep and shed tears in secret.Â
Later, a Chinese businesswoman who was engaged in a cleaning service gave me a trial and a week later employed me formally. Cherishing the job very much, I worked pretty hard all day long.
My boss has been in the business in Australia for over ten years. Most of her clients are regular ones, who have strict requirements for the cleaning. My boss is serious and ill-tempered: She always spoke to employees in a harsh tone of voice; if employees did something wrong, she would break out into curses. So, for fear of being abused or dismissed, I was in a state of high-level anxiety and focused all my attention on working every day.
One day, my boss took us to a rich manâs house to do the cleaning. Before entering the house, we were exhorted by the boss to be careful in our work because each piece of furniture here was pretty delicate and expensive. Seeing her serious face, I became nervous. Then in each room, I wiped every corner and decoration with great caution for fear of breaking anything, which I couldnât afford to pay for. However, what I feared most did happen. When I was wiping a switch on the wall, its glass cover suddenly dropped down. Right then I hurried to catch it, but failed. At that time, I was stunned and broke out in a cold sweat, thinking that I was over. To my surprise, when I picked up the cover, I found that it was actually intact. At that time, I finally felt released in my heart, thinking, âThe quality of the cover is so good. Falling from such a height, itâs still undamaged.â Then, I put it back cautiously. Seeing it looked just as it had been, I felt very happy and then continued my work.
The next week, we went to the house again at the appointed time and left after finishing the cleaning. On the way to the next clientâs, my boss said in confusion, âItâs weird. He always pays us every other week; why did he not pay us this time. Iâll make him a call.â Not long after she got through to him, they started quarreling on the phone. When I vaguely heard them quarreling about something broken, my heart suddenly clenched: Are they talking about the glass cover? But wasnât it intact when I picked it up? Oh, if it is really the cover, Iâm in big trouble. Hearing my bossâs indignant voice, I felt very frightened, not daring to say a word. Later, the client sent a picture to my boss. At the sight of the picture, I was stunned because it was just the cover, which had terribly cracked. Thinking the client was extorting money from her, my boss began to yell on the phone. In light of the circumstance, I was rather frightened with my heart churning: Itâs my fault. Shall I tell the truth or not? If I donât tell the truth, Iâll be hated by God, without peace within; moreover, perhaps my boss will lose this client and suffer losses. But, if I tell the truth, my ill-tempered boss will definitely dismiss me at once. At the thought of this, I became very upset, unable to figure out what to do.
When we arrived at the next clientâs, my boss was still quarreling with that client. Guilty and distressed, I went upstairs with fear; and then, I prayed to God, âOh, God! Facing such a situation, Iâm very fearful and reproached, for it was I who broke the cover. I should tell the truth to the boss. But Iâm worried Iâll be dismissed and could hardly make a living if I tell the truth. Besides, Iâm afraid if the boss keeps quarreling with the client, she will get herself into big trouble, and even got a lawsuit. Oh, God! Now Iâm very frightened and weak. What should I do?â
After praying to God, all of a sudden, I thought of a passage of Godâs words, âIn every step of work that God does within people, externally it appears to be interactions between people, as if born of human arrangements, or from human interference. But behind the scenes, every step of work, and everything that happens, is a wager made by Satan before God, and requires people to stand firm in their testimony to God. ⊠Thus, in everything there is a battle, and when there is a battle within you, thanks to your actual cooperation and actual suffering God works within you. ⊠Everything you do requires you to pay a certain price in your efforts. Without actual hardship, you canât satisfy God, it does not even come close to satisfying God, and you are just saying empty slogans! Can these empty slogans satisfy God? When God and Satan do battle in the spiritual realm, how should you satisfy God, and how should you stand firm in your testimony to Him? You should know that everything that happens to you is a great trial and the time when God needs you to bear testimony.â
Pondering Godâs words and thinking of what had happened to me, I realized it was Godâs test that came upon me. When I faced the choice between my own interests and the truth that God required me to practice, God was observing my attitude and choice, so was Satan. Reflecting on my thoughts and idea in this matter, I found that I, driven by the selfish nature, was always protecting my own interests: Iâm afraid if I tell the truth, Iâll be abused by the boss and lose my face in front of others, and even be dismissed, losing the source of income. Driven by those thoughts, when seeing the boss quarreling with the client to prove her innocence, I had no courage to admit my mistake. I was really too selfish and despicable. Now failing to stand firm for God, I felt reproached and chastised in my heart, which was Godâs righteous disposition coming upon me.
At that time, these words popped into my mind clearly, âYou must ⊠act honestly and straightforwardly, speak and act in accordance with the facts, and be someone who is open and aboveboard.â Thank God for His enlightenment and guidance, which allowed me to understand this: God hopes us to be those who are open and aboveboard, and act honestly and straightforwardly; only such people can be blessed by God, live straightforwardly and feel at ease and peaceful inside. Today, Godâs arranging this circumstance is to cleanse and change my corrupt disposition and allow me to enter the truth of being an honest person. So, I should put aside my face and interests and take the responsibility; even though my boss would dismiss me, I must tell the truth. Thinking of this, I took a deep breath, calling on God silently in my heart: May You give me faith and strength. May You grant me with the words I should speak.
Then, I went to the boss. Seeing her angry face, I still felt a bit of fear in my heart, but through praying to God again for strength, I had the courage and said to her, âBoss, it was I who broke the cover. At that time when it fell down, I was stunned, thinking it must be broken; unexpectedly, it was still intact when I picked it up. Then, I put it back and went on working without telling you about this. Yet I never thought it was broken like this. Iâm sorry to have put you to all this bother. Now, Iâm willing to pay for the loss.â After saying those words, I felt pretty relaxed, willing to face her angry response.
To my surprise, my boss didnât get mad at me but breathed a sigh of relief, and then said to me, âOh, Fang. It was you. The cover was intelligent and of good quality; so, it didnât break at once, but gradually cracked. Well, all right. Iâll make an apology to the client and see how to deal with the matter. Go to work and just be more careful from now on.â After hearing this, I just couldnât believe my ears. I thought that I would be abused by her as usual, and would at least compensate for the cover even though she didnât dismiss me. Then I realized it was God who did all of this. Seeing Godâs deeds, I was very excited and felt the happiness, steadiness, and peace brought by practicing being an honest person. Then I silently offered thanks and praise to God in my heart.
Not long after, my boss took us to do the cleaning as usual. After having made that mistake, I worked more carefully than before: I handled valuables more gently, and often reminded myself, âI mustnât make trouble for my boss again.â Yet unexpectedly, once I was wiping a delicate desk lamp when its lampshade and bulb somehow fell to the ground from the desk, bulb breaking into pieces. Seeing this, I was stunned: âWhat happened last time has just smoothed down, yet this time I made the same mistake. How can I face my boss? Will she forgive me again?â I was very nervous and bewildered, not knowing what to do. All of a sudden, I thought of the previous experience and realized that there was Godâs will in this matter. So I immediately cried out to God, âOh, God! Today, the same matter came upon me. How should I experience it?â
After praying, I thought of Godâs words, âBut in actual fact, this matter is a lesson for which you should be studying, a lesson on how to fear God, on how to shun evil. Moreover, what you should be even more concerned about is knowing what God is doing when this matter arises to face you. God is right at your side, observing every one of your words and deeds, observing your actions, your mind changesâthis is Godâs work. ⊠Whenever God arranges a circumstance for you, He is watching in secret, looking upon your heart, looking upon your thoughts and considerations, looking at how you think, looking at how you will act.â
Pondering Godâs words, I realized this: In every environment I encounter, be it great or small, good or bad, I should practice truth. Last time, when I didnât practice the truth at first, I lived in Satanâs trickery, feeling distressed without release. Today, when the same thing came upon me, I am starting to consider my face and interests again. God observes everything. He is looking upon my thoughts and considerations and my every action, looking at whether I can put aside my face and interests to practice the truth of being an honest person.
Then, I thought the Lord Jesus once said, âTruly I say to you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heavenâ (Matthew 18:3). God is holy, so only those who are simple and honest can enter into His kingdom. However, corrupted by Satan, we are so selfish and crafty; to defend our own interests, we even darenât speak a word of truth. How can such people like us be qualified to inherit what God has promised and enter His kingdom?
Thank God. Having understood Godâs will, I seemed to have infinite power to face my mistake bravely. I knew that practicing the truth was not just to admit the mistake but to transform my corrupt disposition and live out the likeness of an honest person. So regardless of the result, I was willing to take responsibility for the matter. Then, I went to my boss and frankly admitted my mistake. To my surprise, she said to me gently, âThatâs all right, Fang. The lampstand and lampshade had been broken, which I didnât tell you in advance. So, we just need to buy a new bulb some other day and put it in. Iâll tell the house-owner about the matter. Go ahead and clean up the pieces.â I was astonished at her words but soon calmed down. At that moment, I experienced a sudden revelation: This matter is a test for me. All things serve one another in order to benefit people who love God; God arranged the circumstance to allow me to gain the truth of being an honest person. Thinking of this, I was filled with gratitude to God in my heart.
More miraculously, after these two matters, my hot-tempered boss no longer abused me; instead, she assigned me the lightest work and raised my salary. Moreover, what gratified me most was that the relationship between us was more than that between employee and employer: She regarded me just as her bosom friend. She often took the initiative to have a heart-to-heart with me, pouring out her worries and difficulties; besides, she taught me how to interact with the foreigners and how to adapt to the life of Australia. Even my colleagues said to me, âFang, our boss is so nice to you. We are really envious.â Hearing their words, I thanked God silently in my heart. I knew it was because of practicing being an honest person according to Godâs words that I could win the trust of my boss, which was Godâs grace and blessing. Thank God!
Trials Are Special Blessings of God
By Xuanxuan, Taiwan
After my husband and I met and fell in love, we got married, and then I gave birth to an adorable son and a lovely daughter.
I managed our marriage with my heart, but gradually, I found that it was not easy to do it well. Because of differences in our family backgrounds and life habits, my husband and I often quarreled and it got more and more bitter. We went so far as to even want a divorce. Just when my marriage was on the rocks, I accepted the Lord Jesusâs gospel. After I knew that the Lord Jesus was nailed to the cross and shed His precious blood to redeem mankind, I was moved by His love. Later, from the Bible I saw that the Lord Jesus has patience and tolerance for man, so I resolved to follow the Lord Jesusâ example to be humble and patient. I discussed it with my husband and then became a Christian. Brothers and sisters often shared the Lordâs grace together, supported and helped each other, living in Godâs love. I was filled with joy and peace.
As time went by, most of my brothers and sisters in the church began to become busy making money, and during the small group meetings, what they talked about had nothing to do with the faith in the Lord, but instead were eating, drinking, and playing. Additionally, the pastorâs sermons were the same old platitudes. I got no enjoyment out of listening to them, with my mind often being empty.
Sometimes as soon as I attended meetings, my eyelids started fighting to stay open. In my daily life, I also involuntarily committed sins, my relationship with my husband didnât improve, and I couldnât live out the requirements of the Lord at all. I felt more and more like the Lord was not with me, and all I could do was pray to the Lord in my heart and ask Him not to abandon me. Meanwhile, I practiced spiritual devotions more and read the Bible more. However, my spiritual condition was without any improvement.
In June, 2017, I got acquainted with the brothers and sisters of The Church of Almighty God. Through fellowshiping about the truths together with them several times, I understood: The reason why our church is desolate is that the Holy Spiritâs work has moved. Because now God has begun His new work, the work of the Holy Spirit has moved to those who have accepted it. I also understood: In the Age of Grace, in order to redeem us, the Lord Jesus personally became flesh and was crucified as the sin offering for man. When we confessed our sins to the Lord in His name and repented, the Lord would forgive us. But we havenât escaped from the bonds and the restrictions of sin, so we still need God to do another stage of work of removing sins so that we can be purified. Then the brothers and sisters also fellowshiped about various truths, such as the three stages of Godâs work and the formation of the Bible, and so forth. I felt what they fellowshiped was quite in line with the Bible and contained the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. Meanwhile, it solved many confusions and problems that I had in my belief in the Lord as well. Thereupon I decided to seek and study Almighty Godâs work of the last days.
Once, when I was surfing online, I inadvertently clicked on a link, and found that it was all the negative propaganda from the Chinese Communist Party government and the religious world judging and convicting Almighty God. This struck cold to my heart at the time. I thought: The CCP government, an atheist party, has been persecuting religious beliefs all the time, and also has labeled the Bible as a cult book. For the sake of its dictatorship, the CCP is capable of doing any evil thing, such as falsifying, discrediting, smearing, and framing, this is a fact known to all. So what the CCP says cannot be relied upon. But why do so many prestigious pastors and elders in the religious world unite with the CCP government to judge and condemn The Church of Almighty God? What is really going on here?
Subsequently, when I came into contact with the brothers and sisters of The Church of Almighty God, I started observing them secretly. After a period of time of contact, I found that they were sincere, behaved properly, and were moderate in their words and actions. When in gatherings, they would communicate the truths, such as how to be an honest person, how to live out a normal humanity, how to revere God and shun evil, and other aspects. Especially at the time that I encountered difficulties, the brothers and sisters all fellowshiped about the truths to me so that I could know Godâs will. Attracted by the truths they shared in fellowship and moved by their sincerity, slowly, I no longer guarded myself against the brothers and sisters of The Church of Almighty God. Afterward, as long as I had time, I would watch all sorts of videos and movies on The Church of Almighty Godâs app. The more I watched the more spiritual nourishment I obtained, and I enjoyed the living water of life that flows from the throne. I confirmed that Almighty God is the appearance of the Lord Jesus, thus feeling even more at ease, and also happy to have contact with the brothers and sisters of the Church.
However, I still could not understand why the religious leaders condemned The Church of Almighty God, so I raised this question in a meeting. Then a sister fellowshiped with me, âLetâs first look at some verses in the Bible. In 1 John 5:19 it says: âthe whole world lies in wickedness.â And in Luke 11:29: âThis is an evil generation.â We all know that since ancient times, the true way has always been suppressed. Just like in the Age of Grace, when the Lord Jesus did His work, He not only gave us man the way of repentance but also performed many signs and wonders, such as feeding 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish, making cripples walk, making the blind see, resurrecting the dead, and so on. The scribes and Pharisees of that time all admitted that the Lord Jesusâ words and work had authority and power, yet in order to protect their own positions and livelihoods, they intentionally made up rumors and framed the Lord Jesus, did their utmost to block believers from following the Lord Jesus, and in the end even colluded with the Roman government to crucify the Lord Jesus on the cross. From the fact we can see that the true way will always suffer the rejection and condemnation of atheist regimes and religious world.
In the last days, Almighty God has expressed the truth to do the work of judgment and chastisement, and all kinds of MVs, movies, and the books of Godâs words have been posted on the internet to openly bear witness of Almighty Godâs work of the last days. All those who love the truth and long for and await the appearance of the Lord have begun to return to Almighty God, one by one, whereas those who hate the truth and resist God have been revealed by Godâs work. Like the Pharisees, todayâs religious pastors and elders see that the words expressed by Almighty God are all the truth, yet because more and more believers have returned to Almighty God, to protect their status and livelihoods they fanatically resist and condemn The Church of Almighty God. From this we can see their nature and essence of hating the truth and resisting God. If we are not able to discern or seek the truth, but just blindly listen to the words of men, then we will lose the opportunity of Godâs salvation. In fact, in the last days God uses the forces of Satan to do service for perfecting His chosen people, so that we can see through their essence, and then reject and betray them. This is precisely the wisdom of Godâs work.â Through the sisterâs communication, I came to know: The reason why these pastors and elders of the religious world condemn the work of Almighty God is because they know Almighty Godâs words are the truth, and that as long as those who love the truth and thirst for Godâs appearance hear these words of Almighty God they will follow Almighty God and reject them. So, for the sake of preserving their own positions and meal-tickets, they do everything possible to block people from coming before God, and they even spread various rumors, making people not dare to study Almighty Godâs work of the last days. Being deceived by the rumors, untold numbers of people have lost this once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet the Lord. These religious pastors and elders are too despicable and too evil. If it werenât for God pitying and saving me, I would also miss the chance to greet the Lord.
As I was awash in the joy of welcoming the return of the Lord, a spiritual battle secretly befell me. When my husband knew I believed in Almighty God, he searched for âThe Church of Almighty Godâ on the internet, and saw a lot of words originating from the CCP and the religious world that resisted and condemned the Church. Deceived by the negative propaganda, my husband angrily said to me, âDo you know anything about The Church of Almighty God? Do you know there are many negative words online about The Church of Almighty God?â I replied to him, âI accept the work of Almighty God because I have read many Almighty Godâs words. His words not only have solved lots of my problems in my real life, but also teach me to live out the normal humanity. The words of Almighty God are the truth and Godâs voice. Almighty God is the appearance of the Lord Jesus. Furthermore, after this period of interacting with the brothers and sisters of The Church of Almighty God, I can see they are all devout Christians.â At the moment, I remembered that the sister had fellowshiped with me: Since we believe in God we must have a heart that reveres God, otherwise we will become Satanâs accomplices and follow it to resist God. Just like when the Jewish people at that time blindly listened to the lies of the Pharisees, but didnât investigate whether or not what they said was true; in the end, they followed the Pharisees to nail the Lord to the cross, walking the God-resisting path. This led to the destruction of Israel. At the thought of this, I told my husband that he couldnât follow the herd and blindly believe the rumors on the internet, for they were all lies. But my husband didnât listen to my words at all. He said to me: âFrom now on, you are not to attend meetings with them. I forbid it!â
Afterward, whenever my husband discovered that I still had gatherings, he would seem to change into another person, with a dangerous gleam in his eyes. Seeing him like this, I was very afraid in my heart, for during the years of our marriage, though sometimes we quarreled, I had never seen that kind of expression in his eyes. I recalled that in the past when I believed in the Lord, he never persecuted me, but now when it came to my believing in Almighty God, he seemed to completely lose his reason. No matter how I explained it to him, he didnât listen to me, making me feel restrained in gathering with the brothers and sisters of The Church of Almighty God. Later, a sister heard my situation and fellowshiped with me, âFrom the outside, what you have encountered today appears to be the obstruction from your family, but in reality this is a spiritual battle. God intends to save us, but Satan is unwilling to see that. Therefore, it thinks up every conceivable way to disturb us and use our weak points to attack us, attempting to make us stray from God. At the same time, this is also Godâs trial of us. God wants to see whether we can maintain our faith in Him and stand witness for Him in persecution.â The sister also read me a passage of Godâs words: âIn every step of work that God does within people, externally it appears to be interactions between people, as if born of human arrangements, or from human interference. But behind the scenes, every step of work, and everything that happens, is a wager made by Satan before God, and requires people to stand firm in their testimony to God. Take when Job was tried, for example: Behind the scenes, Satan was making a bet with God, and what happened to Job was the deeds of men, and the interference of men. Behind every step that God does in you is Satanâs wager with Godâbehind it all is a battle. ⊠When God and Satan do battle in the spiritual realm, how should you satisfy God, and how should you stand firm in your testimony to Him? You should know that everything that happens to you is a great trial and the time when God needs you to bear testimony.â Thank God for His enlightenment. Through the sisterâs fellowship, I understood: In fact I am experiencing a spiritual battle. The thing that happens to me now is a wager Satan makes with God. From the outside it is my husband obstructing my belief in Almighty God, but actually, it is Satan using my husband to disturb me. Satan wants me to become negative and weak, blame and misunderstand God, and eventually leave my church life, betray God, and return under its domain. After knowing this, I was determined to bear witness for God and not to be used by Satan and become its captive anymore. However, I still felt some weakness in my heart, for every time when I was going to the meetings, my husband would make some sarcastic remarks. Once the meeting time came, I always felt very nervous, afraid that if in future we quarreled every day then life would be difficult for me.
In pain, I came before God and prayed: âOh God, the environment I am facing now is Your test for me. I donât want to be restrained by my husband, but I am very weak. God, please give me strength and courage. Amen!â A few days later, a sister sent me two passages of Godâs words: âYou must have My courage within you and you must have principles when facing relatives who do not believe. But for the sake of Me, you must also not yield to any of the dark forces. Rely on My wisdom to walk the perfect way; do not allow the conspiracies of Satan to take hold.â âYou must quiet your hearts at all times, live within Me; I am your Rock, your Backer.â After reading these Godâs words, I had faith and strength inside. I also felt God was by my side, that He understood my situation and knew I was flustered, and that as long as I called on Him He would help and guide me. Right! God is my reliance. God is my strong rock. I canât shrink back any longer, I should rely on God to face such an environment. With this in mind, thereupon, I said to my husband, âI will do all the housework properly, but please donât interfere with my belief in God. My resolution to believe in God will not be changed anyway.â Hearing my words, my husband was extremely angry, yet I was not restrained by him anymore, and after that, I still regularly gathered with brothers and sisters.
Later, my husband changed his attitude toward me. He suddenly treated me very well and said that we should work on our relationship. Then, every day he would actively accompany me to do exercises in the morning, and invite me to watch TV and chat with him at night. On holidays, he asked me to take our children to my former church, and he also said that he was gonna believe in the Lord with me. Previously, I looked forward to living such a life, but now, faced with my husbandâs attentions, I just couldnât feel happy anyhow, for in my heart I knew it was also a trick of Satan. Satan used various tricks to entice and deceive me, didnât it want me to give up believing in God and ultimately lose the opportunity of Godâs salvation? Satan is too despicable and too evil! Then I thought of some Godâs words: âYou must not throw away the truth for the sake of a peaceful family life, and you must not lose your lifeâs dignity and integrity for the sake of momentary enjoyment. You should pursue all that is beautiful and good, and should pursue a path in life that is more meaningful. If you lead such a vulgar life, and do not pursue any objectives, do you not waste your life? What can you gain from such a life? You should forsake all enjoyments of the flesh for the sake of one truth, and should not throw away all truths for the sake of a little enjoyment. People like this have no integrity or dignity; there is no meaning to their existence!â Yeah, I cannot lose the opportunity to gain the truth for the sake of coveting the comforts of the flesh. Now that Almighty Godâs work is the true way, I should walk the path without hesitation. At the moment, I thought of Job. He had principles in treating any person, event, and thing, and he treated his wife, sons and daughters, and friends all based on the principles of truth instead of emotions. I should follow Jobâs example and be a person who acts with principles. So, I said to my husband, âAs your wife, I can accompany you, but when it is time for me to attend meetings I must go.â To my surprise, this time my husband didnât say a single word, and I felt that his attitude toward my faith was slowly changing.
Not long after that, my husband tried another trickâhe asked me to give a call to the pastorâs wife of my former church in Taipei. I did not think it was necessary to do so, yet he insisted, and in the next few days he kept asking me whether I had called her or not. Unable to bear that, finally I called her telephone. At first, when we made small talk my pastorâs wife spoke to me in a gentle tone; however, when I asked what she thought about The Church of Almighty God, her tone suddenly changed, and she said many words that opposed and blasphemed against God. At the moment, my heart leapt into my throat, because my phoneâs speaker was turned on and my husband could hear every word she said. I worried that after he finished hearing these words, he would prevent me from believing in Almighty God even more. Very nervous, I silently prayed to God in my heart: âOh God, in the face of such an environment, I donât know what to do. I ask You to give me Your wisdom.â At this time, some Godâs words occurred to me, âAlmighty God, the Head of all things, wields His kingly power from His throne. He rules over the universe and all things and He is guiding us on the whole earth. We shall often be close to Him, and come before Him in quietness; never shall we miss a single moment, and there are things to learn at all times. The environment around us as well as the people, matters and objects, all are permitted by His throne. Do not have a complaining heart, or God will not bestow His grace upon you.â Godâs words made me understand: Almighty God is the one true God who created heaven and earth and all things and rules over all things. All matters and things are in His hands. The environment I encounter today is authorized by God, and within this is His good will. Now what the pastorâs wife says is resisting God and blaspheming Him, I should stand up and bear witness to God so as to shame Satan. So, I asked her, âIs there any factual basis for your words?â She hesitated a bit and said, âNo. I just heard this from others.â Hearing her words, I said to her, âWithout any factual basis, youâd better not speak randomly. If it is so, say it is so. If it isnât so, say it isnât so. We, as a Christian, must have a heart of reverence for God; otherwise, we will resist God easily.â When I finished my words, the atmosphere became embarrassed, and then we closed our talk hastily. After hanging up the phone, I had an unspeakable joy within. Meanwhile, I also saw that Godâs wisdom is exercised based on Satanâs scheme. Through this call, I gained some discernment about the essence of the pastors and elders. These shepherds did not have a shred of reverence for God nor a heart of seeking the truth, and toward Godâs new work, they took a convicting, resisting, and blasphemous attitude. From this I saw their truth-hating and God-hating nature. I said to my husband, âThank you for asking me to make this call. If not, I wouldnât be able to discern these false shepherds.â My husband found it quite unbelievable, saying, âHow could your pastorâs wife be like this? Without knowing the truth, she actually shot her mouth off. As a shepherd, she is too irresponsible.â
Since then, my husband didnât obstruct me from attending meetings any longer. Moreover, he told me that since I believed in Almighty God, he had felt my changesâI could tolerate and understand others, no longer lost my temper easily, and also wasnât in a high position suppressing our children anymore. Now he has installed the new network on the third floor of our house, and told me that only in this way could I attend meetings in peace. I know behind all of these things it is God who has opened up the way for me. I also have felt God is by my side, and that when Satanâs tricks come upon me, as long as I rely on and look up to God, He will guide me to get through every difficulty.
After experiencing the twists and turns of these days, I have understood some truths, and gained some discernment about the schemes carried out by Satan in the spiritual world. All of these are the most precious wealth God has granted me. In retrospect, it is Godâs hand that has led me along the way. Thank God for allowing me to hear His voice and return before Him. All the glory be to Almighty God! Amen!
Christian Question and Answer: Why Did God Incarnate to Work in the Age of Grace?
By Xiang Wang
Many brothers and sisters in the Lord all feel confused: In the Age of Law, Jehovah God did His work and led the Israelites in Spirit, so why must God become flesh to work and save man in the Age of Grace? Couldnât He do that work in a spiritual body?
On this question, Iâll share a bit of my understanding. As a matter of fact, every stage of Godâs work is done based on the needs of corrupt mankind and also according to the steps of Godâs plan of managing mankind. In the Age of Law, because mankind was minimally corrupted, what they needed was not Godâs work of redemption. They only needed God to promulgate laws and commandments so that they could be aware of their sins and know how to worship God and how to live on earth. At that time, as long as mankind obeyed the laws and commandments, they could receive Godâs care, protection, blessings, and grace. Therefore, in the Age of Law, God didnât need to incarnate Himself to do His work.
At the end of the Age of Law, however, since mankind had become more and more corrupt, they couldnât uphold the law anymore. After sinning, they had no adequate sacrifices to offer and so they made inferior offerings to Jehovah God. Everyone was facing the danger of being put to death according to the law. Thus, in order to save mankind from being condemned by the law, God personally became flesh and was crucified for mankind to redeem them from the clutches of Satan, so that man would no longer be executed by the law because of sinning.
So why didnât God perform the redemption work in the Spirit? It is because God is Spirit, formless and amorphous, so if He doesnât become flesh, He canât be nailed to the cross and canât be mankindâs sin offering. Just as Jehovah God said to Moses: âYou can not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and liveâ (Exodus 33:20). The corrupt mankind canât come into direct contact with Godâs Spirit. If man were to come into contact with Godâs Spirit, they would be smitten by God. If so, how could God redeem mankind? Moreover, since man canât see Godâs Spirit, he can only use his brain to imagine what kind of God God is, what disposition He has, and what His essence is. However, such understanding is not practical or precise. Besides, if Godâs Spirit worked on man, giving man enlightenment, illumination, moving, and guidance, this would give man a sense of the mysterious and the unimaginable. So it wouldnât be easy for man who has a mind and has been deeply corrupted by Satan to accurately understand Godâs will, so man would feel a sense of estrangement from God. In this way, it would be impossible for Godâs redemption work to be effective.
But the work of God in the flesh is different. God incarnate can practically interact with men, live among them, take part in their lives, and support, provide for, and teach them at any time. He can use the language of men to clearly tell mankind His demands, His will, His disposition, and all that He has and is. In this way, without having to cast about and search, men can clearly understand Godâs will and know Godâs work, so that they have a clear goal and direction and the accurate path of practice for believing in God. For example, we can understand from the Lord Jesusâ words what kind of people can enter into the kingdom of heaven, and that we should forgive others seventy times seven times, love our neighbor as ourselves, and be tolerant and patient to others, etc. From the utterances and work of the incarnate God, we can practically feel Godâs love and compassion for mankind. God in the flesh has sympathy for mankindâs weakness and gives sinners chances to repent. As long as man sincerely repents and confesses before God, he can gain Godâs pardon and forgiveness without having to give offerings. In this way, man no longer needs to be worried about being put to death according to the law when he sins and has no offering, and can break free from the bondage and shackles of the law. The work of God in the flesh can also reveal which believers have real faith and which believers are hypocritical, and let man know what type of person God likes and what type of person disgusts Him. For instance: The Pharisees were the leaders in the synagogues, and they read the Bible well, strictly followed the regulations of the law, purposely engaged in long prayers, and wrote scriptures on tassels of their garments. The Jewish people all thought they were the people who piously served God and thus imitated and followed them. However, the Lord Jesus revealed the essence and truth of the Phariseesâ hypocrisy, and repeatedly condemned and cursed them, saying âwoe to you,â which has given believers in God discernment. All of this is brought by God incarnate, and the work of the Spirit simply cannot achieve this effect.
As Godâs word says: âThe work that is of greatest value to corrupt man is that which provides accurate words, clear goals to pursue, and which can be seen and touched. Only realistic work and timely guidance are suited to manâs tastes, and only real work can save man from his corrupt and depraved disposition. This can only be achieved by the incarnate God; only the incarnate God can save man from his formerly corrupt and depraved disposition.â
It is now the last days. We humans have been deeply corrupted by Satan and all follow the evil trends of society. Relationships between people are built on the foundation of money and benefits. People have already lost all conscience and reason, and those who have believed in the Lord for many years are no exception. All their actions are according to their own will. They attack and belittle each other for their own fame, fortune, and status. They are arrogant and have no reverence for God, living in the state of committing sins and confessing them. Their sins are more serious than those of the people who lived in the Age of Law and they are more evil and corrupt. Just as the Bible says: âFor men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of Godâ (2 Timothy 3:2-4). If in the last days, God worked in Spirit to bring the age to an end, then none of us corrupt humans could be saved and we would only be smitten by God and perish. This wasnât Godâs original intention when He made man. His management plan is to save man and bring those who are purified into a new heaven and a new earth. For this reason, God must become flesh again in the last days to work and save mankind, which contains His good intentions for mankindâs salvation.
The Bible says: âI have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to comeâ (John 16:12-13). âFor as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his dayâ (Luke 17:24). âHe that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churchesâ (Revelation 2:29). âMy sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow meâ (John 10:27).
From these prophecies, we can clearly see that when God comes back in the last days, He will come secretly as the Son of man to express the truth and do His work. When it comes to the Son of man, it refers to the incarnate God who is born from a human and has both normal humanity and complete divinity. The Lord Jesus also prophesied that when He returns in the last days, we corrupt mankind will resist and reject Him because we donât love the truth and donât know God. Just as the Lord Jesus said: âBut first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generationâ (Luke 17:25). However, for those who love the truth and long for Godâs appearance, when they hear the news of the Lordâs return, they will be able to seek and investigate with a God-revering heart. Itâs like Peter, John, and other disciples: When the Lord Jesus became flesh to work, they could humbly seek and pay attention to listening to the Lordâs voice. In the end, they followed the Lord and received His salvation. It is hoped that all of us can be someone like Peter and John who humbly seeks, puts aside their own conceptions, and accepts the truth, so that we can recognize Godâs voice from His words, follow His footsteps, and receive His salvation of the last days.
What Is an Overcomer? How to Be an Overcomer
By Ganxin
At the mention of overcomers, we will think of the prophecies in the Book of Revelation, âAnd I looked, and, see, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Fatherâs name written in their foreheadsâ (Revelation 14:1), âThese are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lambâ (Revelation 7:14).
Here, the 144,000 prophesied in the scripture are the overcomers whom God wishes to make. They are the ones who stand testimony during the great tribulation, and who are approved by God and qualified to enter the kingdom of heaven. Becoming an overcomer is something that every believer in the Lord longs for, and it is the goal we seek. Many brothers and sisters believe this: Weâve followed the Lord for many years, during which weâve toiled, given things up, expended ourselves, preached the gospel and shepherded the church and, throughout this time, we have suffered mockery and slander from worldly people and the misunderstanding of our relatives; and despite being persecuted and arrested by our own government, we never retreat. As long as we follow the Lord in this way to the end, we will be the overcomers.
Actually, our faith and will to suffer hardships are admirable, but is the viewpoint âAs long as we keep the Lordâs name, give up everything, expend ourselves, and work hard for the Lord, we will become overcomers in the end,â really right, according to our understanding? To answer this question, we should look at what Godâs words say. It is prophesied in the Book of Revelation, âThese are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These were redeemed from among men, being the first fruits to God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of Godâ (Revelation 14:4-5), âThese are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lambâ (Revelation 7:14). Godâs words say, âThose who God refers to as overcomers are those who are still able to stand witness, maintain their confidence, and their devotion to God when under the influence of Satan and under siege by Satan, that is, when within the forces of darkness. If you are still able to maintain a heart of purity and your genuine love for God no matter what, you stand witness in front of God, and this is what God refers to as being an overcomer.â âThose who are made complete before the disaster are obedient to God. They live reliant on Christ, witness Christ, and exalt Him. They are the victorious male children and the good soldiers of Christ.â From these prophecies and Godâs words, we can know that the true overcomers are those who speak no lies and harbor no treachery in their hearts, and whose corrupt dispositions are cleansed. Moreover, they are the ones who closely follow the footsteps of the Lamb, who understand the truth and know God. No matter what Christ says or in what ways He works, they follow and obey Him, exalt God and bear witness to God in all things, and their loyalty to God is absolute and undivided. Faced with the terrible circumstances of Satanâs ruthless persecution, pursuit and capture of people, they are able to continue to put the truth into practice, perform their duty as a creature of God, and obey God unto death, bearing a beautiful and resounding testimony to God. Only by attaining to these criteria can someone be an overcomer in the true sense of the word; it does not just refer to those who toil, give things up and expend themselves for the Lord, and who do not retreat during persecution and tribulations.
At this point, letâs take a look at ourselves: Though weâve followed the Lord for many years, during which weâve given up many things and expended ourselves, suffered and paid a price for the Lord, itâs undeniable that we still havenât escaped our corrupt dispositions and have yet to be cleansed. For example, while we are toiling and working for the Lord, we can often commit sins, disobey and resist God, we do not pay attention to practicing the Lordâs words but do things in accordance with our own whims and desires; sometimes we covet fame, fortune and status, exalt and bear witness to ourselves so that brothers and sisters hold us in high esteem and look up to us, and we bring believers before ourselves; when interacting with others, we are unable to stop ourselves from telling lies and deceiving them in order to protect our personal interests, and when our own fame, fortune and status are involved, we can even go so far as to envy and scheme against our brothers and sisters; our working and suffering are not for loving God and satisfying God, but for obtaining crowns and rewards, so after having done some work and endured some suffering, we flaunt our seniority, self-righteously asking God for a share in the heavenly kingdom in return; when Godâs trials come upon us, we can misunderstand and blame God, and even betray Him; when someone bears witness to Godâs work of the last days for us, misconceptions can arise in us and we can carelessly judge and condemn His work⊠We are still capable of committing frequent sins, being controlled and dominated by our sinful natures, and we are capable of resisting God and betraying Him. How can someone like this who has not been or changed purified be called an overcomer?
Then someone may ask, âIn the light of our behaviors, itâs true that we do not measure up to the criteria of being an overcomer. So, what exactly do we have to do to become overcomers?â It is said in the Bible, âAnd I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is triedâ (Zechariah 13:9). In 1 Peter 4:17 it says, âFor the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God.â Godâs words say, âI have previously said that a group of overcomers are gained from the East, overcomers who come from amid the great tribulation. What is the meaning of such words? They mean that these people who have been gained only truly obeyed after undergoing judgment and chastisement, and dealing and pruning, and all kinds of refinement. The belief of such people is not vague and abstract, but real. They have not seen any signs and wonders, or any miracles; they do not speak of abstruse letters and doctrines, or profound insights; instead they have reality, and the words of God, and a true knowledge of the reality of God.â
From Godâs words we can know that, the true overcomers are those who have gone through Godâs judgment and chastisement, as well as all manner of trials and refinement, and who have some knowledge of God. They also have some knowledge of their own corrupt nature, they have attained true obedience, and no matter what trials or tribulations befall them, they are able to obey God and accept the judgment and chastisement of Godâs words and, ultimately, their satanic corrupt dispositions are changed and purified. When Satanâs temptations come to them, they can stand witness for God, overcome Satanâs leaguer and break free of its influence. They then no longer live by their corrupt dispositions, their actions and comportment are all founded on Godâs words and they live out the reality of Godâs words. Only such people are the true overcomers. When experiencing Godâs work, they gradually gain some knowledge of their satanic corrupt nature, such as arrogance and conceitedness, selfishness and baseness, and lying and cheating, and they see the truth of how they have been corrupted to the core by Satan and that they may resist and betray God at any moment. They see that they are living entirely in the image of Satan and that they donât deserve to live before God. Simultaneously, they also appreciate that Godâs disposition does not tolerate any offense, and thus they develop a heart that reveres God and they become able to obey God and live by His words. Whatâs more, because they understand the truth and know God, they come to have discernment about negative things, and are able to see through Satanâs schemes and stand witness for God when encountering all manner of temptations from Satan. They become the ones who truly love, obey and revere God, their satanic corrupt dispositions are thoroughly purified and changed, and they are completely gained by Godâonly these people are the ones who reach the criteria of being overcomers. Just like Job, as recorded in the Bible: No matter how cruel the methods Satan adopted to torment Job, be it making him lose a mountain of sheep and cattle as well as his great fortune, having his body covered with sores, using his friends to harass him, or attacking his integrity through his wife, Job didnât submit to Satan or speak even a word of complaint against God, but instead he said, âJehovah gave, and Jehovah has taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovahâ (Job 1:21), and âshall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?â (Job 2:10). Faced with these trials, Job could stand witness for God, and follow Godâs way of fearing God and shunning evil, and so he was an overcomer who emerged from tribulation and trials. Peter is another example: He followed the Lord Jesus all his life, took Jesus as his example, pursued the supreme love of God and was crucified upside down for God, obedient to God unto death, thus bearing a resounding and beautiful witness. He was also a true overcomer who came through tribulation, a first fruit made complete by God, and one who entered the kingdom of God and gained eternal life.
The Book of Revelation also prophesies, âBehold, I come quickly: hold that fast which you have, that no man take your crown. Him that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, which is new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God: and I will write on him My new nameâ (Revelation 3:11-12).
âHe that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows saving he that receives itâ (Revelation 2:17).
âFor the Lamb which is in the middle of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them to living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyesâ (Revelation 7:17).
From these verses, it is easy to see that perfecting a group of overcomers is the work that the Lord Jesus has come again to perform. So, if we want to become one of those overcomers, we need to accept the second coming of the Lord, follow the footsteps of God and experience the work of judgment and chastisement by His word, for God will personally speak His utterances to perform the work of purifying and saving us. If we can be the wise virgins who listen to Godâs voice, weâll then be able to attend the wedding feast of the Lamb and obtain truth and life from Him. In the end, because we will have experienced Godâs work of the last days, we will not only have true knowledge of God, but our corrupt dispositions will also be cleansed to different degrees. Only then will we be, in the true sense, a group of overcomers who have passed through great tribulation.
Relying on God, I Saw Through Satanâs Schemes
By Wang Jing, China
My daughter had no child for ten years after she got married. The people around me all looked at me with a peculiar gaze.
My husband also often nagged, âNo matter how much money I make, what use will it be? I even donât have a grandchild to continue my family lineage.â For my vanity and face, I did all I could to seek a cure for my daughter, and took her to see doctors who had folk medicine for treating infertility, regardless of the cost. However, all my efforts were in vain. But when I was in despair, my relative preached the gospel of Godâs kingdom to us.
In February of 2013, my whole family accepted Godâs work of the last days. Through living the church life with brothers and sisters, praying and reading Godâs words, I understood some truth. Later, I performed my duty in the church, living much happier than before. I committed my daughterâs matter into Godâs hands, hoping that God would give her a baby.
In January of 2014, my daughter got pregnant. It was an enormous and joyous thing. My husband, daughter, son-in-law and I bowed before God, offering thanks and praise, âOh God! Our whole family thank You!â We were all immersed in incomparable joy.
Our Hope Was Dashed, and We Were Extremely Grieved
One day in mid-June of 2014, my daughter was doing the cleaning, when she suddenly felt her belly ache. We hurried to send her to hospital. Later, she was delivered of twins 16 weeks premature. However, the baby girl just lived for thirty minutes and the boy about an hour. Their death was a great blow to us. During that time, we were immersed in extreme sadness and pain. I was feeble like a shriveled eggplant and lost my appetite. With my tired body, I looked after my daughter in hospital. Unwittingly, I started to complain against God in my heart. âI know it is Godâs blessing that my daughter could get pregnant. But why did He take her babies away? Since we believe in God, why do we encounter this calamity? âŠâ The more I thought about it, the more passive and pained I became. I even didnât want to read Godâs words. I was in no mood to pray, and I didnât want to attend meetings. Every day, I was busy with worldly things and my heart strayed further and further from God. However, the more I was like this, the more distressed I became, and I felt as if I had lost something.
Godâs Words Led the Way and Enlightened My Heart
Afterward, my sisters came to help and support me after knowing my situation. They fellowshiped with me, âSister, what happened to you is Satanâs temptation. We should see clearly that this is a spiritual battle. Letâs read Godâs words and then we will understand.â
Godâs words say: âIn every step of work that God does within people, externally it appears to be interactions between people, as if born of human arrangements, or from human interference. Behind every step that God does in you is Satanâs wager with Godâbehind it all is a battle.â Then a sister fellowshiped to me, âWe all live under Satanâs domain, deeply corrupted by it. Now, God has again become flesh to express the truth to save us so that we may break free from the affliction of Satan and live in the light. However, Satan is unwilling to be resigned to defeat. It fears that we accept Godâs work in the last days and obtain Godâs salvation. So, it does its utmost to fight against God for us, using some disasters to cause us to be passive and weak and develop doubts toward God and thus to wreck our relationship with God; its purpose is for us to leave God and lose the chance of salvation. Arenât the means by which Satan harms us insidious and malicious? It knows what we fear to lose most as well as our weakness and then use them to attack us. You wanted grandchildren most, so it made you lose them to disturb your heart. In this way, it caused you to be passive and weak, deny God, and blame God; its evil goal is to make you leave God and follow it to resist God, and end up being punished by God. However, Godâs wisdom is exercised based on Satanâs schemes. God allows Satanâs temptation to befall us to test our faith and to see if we truly believe in Him and follow Him. This is a spiritual battle. We should stand witness for God!â
After hearing Godâs words and the sisterâs fellowship, I gradually understood: What I encounter is actually a spiritual battle. Satan wants to use my daughterâs miscarriage to make me passive and weak, keep away from God, deny God, and finally lose Godâs salvation. At this thought, I felt Satan was too insidious. I privately made up my mind: Oh God! No matter how Satan tempts me, I must not fall for its schemes. Please save me.
Satanâs Temptation Befell Again
In April of 2016, my daughter got pregnant again. Later, she delivered a healthy and lovely boy. I offered thanks to God from my heart. However, not long after my grandson was born, he suddenly had a serious illness, and then was diagnosed with leukemia. As soon as I heard this, my tears fell out of my eyes. I felt as if my head would burst open. My whole body felt limp and weak and everything went black before my eyes. I just couldnât accept the fact. âThe doctor says that itâs uncertain whether my grandsonâs disease will be cured even if we spend several hundreds of thousands of yuan on it. Will I lose a grandson again? What should I do?â Suddenly I felt as if the sky had fallen. It felt like a knife had been twisted into my heart. Even breathing was difficult. Just when I was pained and helpless, I suddenly remembered God. âGod is my reliance and my support. Why donât I rely on Him?â So, I called out to God in my heart ceaselessly, âOh God! Now my grandson is seriously ill. I am unable to save him. I can do nothing but commit him into Your hands. Encountering this temptation, I am very weak. May You give me faith and strength so that I may obey Your sovereignty and arrangement.â
At that moment, I thought of Godâs words: âThe environment around us as well as the people, matters and objects, all are permitted by His throne. Do not have a complaining heart, or God will not bestow His grace upon you.â âYou are able to stand on the side of God when He does battle with Satan, and you do not turn back to Satan, then you will have achieved the love of God, and you will have stood firm in your testimony.â Godâs words gave me faith and strength and calmed my heart gradually. âGod is almighty. My grandsonâs disease is in His hands. I canât lose faith in Him.â Recalling that last time I nearly betrayed God for falling for Satanâs schemes, I made a resolution in heart: Today, regardless of how Satan interferes, I will stand firm. I must not fall for Satanâs temptation again. I canât complain against God. This time I must stand testimony to satisfy God.
Obeying God, I Tasted Godâs Grace
When I was willing to commit my grandson into Godâs hands, I saw Godâs wondrous deeds again. At dawn the next day, I received a call from the doctor, âYour grandsonâs condition has gotten much better. Iâve been a doctor for over twenty years, yet itâs my first time encountering such a recovery. What a miracle!â When hearing this, I simply couldnât believe it. What my grandson got was leukemia, yet he got well after being hospitalized for only six days. It was really a miracle! God is too almighty and too wondrous! I couldnât help jumping with joy. Aside from excitement, I continuously thanked and praised God. Under Godâs care and protection, my grandson recovered his health completely. Now he grows up lively, lovely, and is able to say many words, which is truly Godâs grace and blessing to our family.
After experiencing this spiritual battle, I have gained a great lot. It turns out that there are Godâs intentions hidden in things that seem bad. I have not only reversed my incorrect perspective of believing in God only for grace, but also really seen that Godâs wisdom is exercised based on Satanâs schemes despite the various schemes Satan uses to destroy and interrupt our relationship with God. Through the revelation of Godâs words, I saw clearly Satanâs hideous countenance, and began to forsake it and loathe it. Godâs deeds are so wondrous! Thank God! All the glory be to God!
Christian Testimony: The True Meaning of Godâs Judgment
Godâs words say: âIn the last days, Christ uses a variety of truths to teach man, expose the essence of man, and dissect his words and deeds.Â
These words comprise various truths, such as manâs duty, how man should obey God, how man should be loyal to God, how man ought to live out the normal humanity, as well as the wisdom and the disposition of God, and so on. These words are all directed at the essence of man and his corrupt disposition. In particular, those words that expose how man spurns God are spoken in regard to how man is an embodiment of Satan and an enemy force against God.â
Having accepted Godâs work, through having meetings and communications of Godâs words, I understood that in the last days God uses words to reveal and judge our corrupt dispositions in order to achieve the results of cleansing and saving humans. However, I didnât know clearly how God judges and cleanses humans until I had practically experienced the environment that God set up for me.
Tasting the Work of the Holy Spirit and Feeling Pleasure Inside
When I started to participate in church life, I often attended meetings with brothers and sisters and read Godâs words. I felt very happy and pleasure inside my heart, and also felt warm in Godâs household. Therefore, in meetings I was very active to read Godâs words and communicate, leaving a favorable impression on my brothers and sisters. Brother Xiaoyong and Sister Liu who looked after us new believers not only always praised me for my reading Godâs words with fluency and good understanding of Godâs words but also cared about me very much, always asking about my situation and difficulties. With the care and admiration of my brothers and sisters, I felt very joyful inside and enjoyed the meetings in which I was at the core of my brothers and sisters before two more sisters joined our meeting group.
Competing With Others and Falling Into Darkness
I remember that in the first meeting, the two sisters shared their experiences about how they returned to God. I really benefited greatly from them, especially from the experience of Sister Kemu. Others also regarded her experience as great and practical and Brother Xiaoyong said that her testimony of experience was very good and encouraged her to write it down to testify to God. Seeing everyone praise her, I thought: âAlas! Why donât I have such experiences?â Because of this I felt very upset. After we had several meetings together, I found Sister Kemu could understand Godâs words very well. In every meeting, with the encouragement and guidance of Brother Xiaoyong and Sister Liu, Sister Kemu could share the light she gained from Godâs words. Whatâs more, she pursued the truth with perseverance and resolve. No matter how busy and tiring her work was, she could always keep a normal relationship with God and insist on reading Godâs words and watching movies and videos. Seeing these, I thought: Although she is better than me now, as long as I make efforts to pursue the truth I also can catch up with her. In order to gain the approval and admiration of the brothers and sisters who looked after us new believers, I began to pursue the truth tooth and nail. At home, I seized every available opportunity to read Godâs words and even sometimes when I was at work, I would wear my headphone to listen to the fellowship from the above and hymns. In the meeting, I became more active than usual. I scrambled to read Godâs words and every time after reading Godâs words I hurriedly communicated about my own understanding without pondering it. For I thought: I should say my understanding first, otherwise if what I think is said by others, I will be regarded as imitating others when I say it again. Besides, every time I was about to go to the meeting, I would review what we had communicated in the last meeting and read Godâs words again to prepare to answer what the brothers and sisters who looked after us new believers would ask. However, they didnât ask.
Once, I was being confused why Brother Xiaoyong didnât ask what we had communicated in the last meeting when Sister Liu asked me to pray for others. At that time I was very muddled and didnât know what to pray so what I prayed was very empty, dull and dry. And I just finished it with several sentences hastily. After prayer I felt very low-spirited. In the meeting, when I saw Brother Xiaoyong looking at Sister Kemu when she communicated, then feeling extremely frustrated, I hurriedly lowered my head and read the words of God, however, I couldnât get any light and couldnât memorize what they had said either, my mind being a complete blank. After the meeting, I went back to the dormitory, feeling weak throughout the body. Then I thought of the previous meetings, in which I always felt pleasure and had a lot to say. But now I was afraid of having meetings and didnât know what to say. Especially when I thought of the look in their eyes when they looked at Sister Kemu, I thought now everyone didnât like me anymore and I felt more and more uncomfortable, being passive in whatever I did. Those days, I was always absent-minded and always made mistakes during the work. I felt very distressed for this and my heart felt so heavy as if there was a big stone inside. So I came before God and prayed: âO God, recently I havenât gotten any light when I communicated about Your words and my work didnât go smoothly either. I donât know why I meet with these things. O God, may You enlighten me and let me find new light and get some understanding when communicating about Your words in meetings.â At this time, Brother Xiaoyong sent a message to me to ask about my recent situation. Being afraid that he would look down upon me if I was open about my expression of corruption, I just replied to him with a sentence perfunctorily. Then I continued to read Godâs words and learn hymns as usual. Also, I copied the words of praising God, summed them up together and memorized them. I thought: Last time I didnât pray for others well, and I must do well next time.
Accepting the Judgment of Godâs Words and Knowing My Own Corruption
A week later, it was time for the meeting again. I thought: If this time Iâm asked to pray for others again, Iâll have something to say, using all the Godâs words I have memorized. But unexpectedly, at the beginning of the meeting, Sister Kemu raised a question about how to pray. Then Brother Xiaoyong played a hymn âHow to Enter Into True Playerâ: âWhilst praying, your heart must be at peace before God, and it must be sincere. You are truly communing and praying with God; you must not deceive God using nice-sounding words. ⊠and bring your actual state and troubles before God to pray, and make resolution before God. Prayer is not the following of procedure, but the seeking of God using your true heart. Ask that God protect your heart, making it able to often be at peace before God, making you able to know yourself, and despise yourself, and forsake yourself in the environment that God has set for you, thus allowing you to have a normal relationship with God and making you someone who truly loves God.â Hearing this hymn, with tears pooling up in my eyes at that time, I felt guilty inside: God asks us to say our real situations, commune with God and establish a normal relationship with Him in prayer, does not asks us to say nice-sounding words or offer blind praise to deceive God. But these days my preparations were all for gaining my brothers and sistersâ approval and praise after their hearing my prayer, not for communing with God and sharing my innermost thoughts and real situation with Him. Isnât my prayer a religious one? Knowing Godâs will, I knew that I should say what I really thought inside to God, so then I prayed to God about these actions. After prayers, Sister Liu said to me: âYour desire for status is very strong.â At that time I couldnât understand it. I thought: How come she say that?
In the evening, Sister Liu sent a video The Heartâs Deliverance to me. After watching the movie I cried, thinking that the protagonist was exactly the same as me. Especially when I saw Godâs words: âAs soon as it involves position, face, or reputation, everyoneâs heart leaps in anticipation, and you always want to stand out, to be famous, to be glorified. You are unwilling to yield, always wanting to contend, although contending is embarrassing. However, you are not content not to contend. When you see someone stand out, you are jealous, feel hatred, complain, and feel it is unfair. âWhy canât I stand out? Why is it never me? Why is it always he who gets to stand out and itâs never my turn?â There is some resentment. You try to repress the resentment, but you canât, so you pray. After praying, you feel better for a little while, but later when you encounter the matter again you cannot overcome it. Is this not a case of immature stature? Is not a personâs falling into these conditions a trap? This is the bondage of a satanically corrupted nature.â Seeing the sisterâs experience and Godâs words, I realized that I cared too much about my face and status. Under the domination of the competitive nature, I always wanted to compete with others and get admiration and praise whatever I did. In order to be highly thought of by brothers and sisters, I racked my brain all day to memorize Godâs words and listen to the fellowship. Even in the meeting I scrambled to communicate first. Werenât these all for showing off myself? When I saw the sisterâs strengths I didnât learn from her humbly but pondered all the time how to show off myself. When my desire couldnât be satisfied, I became negative and started to complain about everything. When faced with the fact I saw I was so corrupted by Satan that I was truly inhuman, arrogant and fragile. Thank God for letting me have a little knowledge of my corrupt dispositions. Meanwhile, from the sisterâs experience, I found the path of practiceâI should dissect and expose my corrupt dispositions and have a heart-to-heart fellowship with my brothers and sisters honestly. Then I came before God and prayed to God, resolving to practice the truth. Later I wrote my experience down and sent it to the messaging group and in the meeting I also opened up my heart to the brothers and sisters, saying all my own real thoughts and expression of corruptions. When I did like this, they didnât look down on me, but instead, they shared their own experiences with me.
Finding the Path of Practice and Getting Released in My Heart
Later, the sister sent me another passage of Godâs words to me: âPonder this: What kind of changes must a person make if he wants to refrain from falling into these conditions and wants to be able to cast off these conditions and free himself of the vexations of these things? What must a person obtain before he can free himself of the vexations of these things, loosen the bonds of these things, and be able truly to be free and liberated? On one hand, a person must see through things: These fame and fortune and positions are tools and methods for Satan to corrupt people, to entrap them, to harm them, and to cause their degeneration. You must first see clearly this aspect in theory. ⊠You must learn to give up and set aside these things, to yield, to recommend others, to allow them to stand out. Do not struggle furiously and rush to take advantage as soon as you encounter an opportunity to stand out or obtain honor. Learn to back off, but do not delay the performing of your duty. Be a person who performs his duty out of the public eye, and who does not show off before others. The more you give up and set aside, the more peaceful your heart will be and the more space will open up within it, and the more your condition will improve. The more you struggle and compete, the darker will be your condition; try it if you donât believe it. If you want to turn around this kind of condition, if you want not to be controlled by these things, then you must first set them aside and give them up.â
The sister said to me in fellowship: âFrom Godâs words we can see that itâs our common feature to pursue face and status as the corrupt mankind, and it is also one of the chronic diseases in our corrupt dispositions, which canât be solved for a while. But as long as we read Godâs words more, accept the judgment and chastisement of Godâs words and see through the damage and results of pursuing face and status according to the exposure of Godâs words, we wonât be bound by it anymore. For example, if we live by the thoughts and viewpoints âA wild goose leaves behind a voice; a man leaves behind a reputationâ and âA tree lives with its bark; a man lives with his face,â then we will put our face, dignity and image above all else and we care too much about othersâ opinions of us and our images in othersâ hearts. We always hope that we can have position in othersâ hearts and can be adored by others. In substance, we are competing for status against God.â
Through the sisterâs fellowship I knew that Satan uses all kinds of thoughts and viewpoints to corrupt us, which makes us pursue face and status so that we distance ourselves from God and compete for status against God. I thought of Godâs words: âI decide the destination of each person not on the basis of age, seniority, amount of suffering, and least of all, the degree to which they invite pity, but according to whether they possess the truth. There is no other choice but this. You must realize that all those who do not follow the will of God will be punished. This is an immutable fact.â Right, God decides our destination according to whether we have the truth. As believers, only through pursuing the truth and the changes of dispositions can we be in line with Godâs will. Itâs vain to pursue reputation, status and the admiration from others. Othersâ admiration canât mean the approval of God. Understanding Godâs intention, I felt released in my heart.
Later I saw Godâs words: âDo not do things before men; you should do them before God. By accepting Godâs observation and inspection, your heart is set aright. If you are always concerned with acting for people to see, then your heart will never be set aright.â Godâs words pointed out the path of practice for me. That is, we should conduct ourselves and do things before God and often accept Godâs scrutiny. I should not always live for my own face and status or care about othersâ opinions. Later I started to consciously practice Godâs words. In the meeting, I prayed to God so that my heart could be at peace before God. Then my heart wasnât so impetuous anymore, and I could calm down to contemplate Godâs words and patiently listened to othersâ fellowship. When I did like this, even if sometimes the light which I had gotten was said first by others, I would contemplate it again and then I found that I could get new light on the basis of othersâ fellowship. Gradually, I felt closer to God and relied on God more and also I didnât have so much desire to compete with others anymore. Now every meeting is enjoyable and I feel released in my heart.
Thank God for His guidance. Through the little experience during this period, I understood the inner meaning of Godâs work of judgment. Just as Godâs words say: âWhat the work of judgment brings about is manâs understanding of the true face of God and the truth about his own rebelliousness. The work of judgment allows man to gain much understanding of the will of God, of the purpose of Godâs work, and of the mysteries that are incomprehensible to him. It also allows man to recognize and know his corrupt substance and the roots of his corruption, as well as to discover the ugliness of man. These effects are all brought about by the work of judgment, for the substance of this work is actually the work of opening up the truth, the way, and the life of God to all those who have faith in Him. This work is the work of judgment done by God.â In the last days God does the work of judgment and chastisement through setting up practical situations to prune and deal with us so that our corruption can be revealed. In these people, events and objects, God also uses His words to lead us to understand the truth and His will so that our corrupt dispositions can be cleansed. Recalling my recent experience, when I lived by the opinions âA wild goose leaves behind a voice; a man leaves behind a reputationâ and âA tree lives with its bark; a man lives with his faceâ and pursued face and status, then God turned His face away from me and also used the people, matters and things around me to deal with me and aroused brothers and sisters to communicate the truth with me. In this way, I could know my corrupt dispositions and the substance of face and status and also know how to pursue is in line with Godâs intentions. These were all the results of Godâs work of judgment in the last days. During the judgment of Godâs words, I have understood Godâs righteous and holy substance and at the same time I felt the earnest intention of Godâs salvation which is comprised in Godâs judgment and chastisement. Thank God, all the glory be to Almighty God!
3 Aspects of Knowledge of God to Be God-fearing Person
I have believed in the Lord for many years. In the past, I often prayed and read the Bible, put in effort to work for the Lord, and suffered and paid the price.Â
Furthermore, I was tolerant and patient toward others, and I neither broke the laws nor walked the path of the wicked. Therefore, I thought that I had been sanctified from the world and was one who revered God, and that I would certainly gain the Lordâs approval and blessings. Recently, I read some fellowship about the truth of fearing God in a book, and gained a lot from it. Only then did I recognize that my knowledge of this aspect of truth was so shallow, and that I didnât really understand the truth of fearing God, let alone had a God-fearing heart. Here, Iâd like to share with you three paths of practice to fear God. I hope that after reading them we all can walk on the path of fearing God.
1. We must be clear that God sees deep into our hearts and observes everything, pray to God with an honest heart, allowing Him to look upon us, and live before Him with a God-revering heart.
The Lord Jesus said, âGod is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truthâ (John 4:24). In Psalms of the Bible it says, âShall not God search this out? for he knows the secrets of the heartâ (Psalms 44:21). God observes the bottom of our hearts and He knows our thoughts and ideas like the palm of His hand. Thus, we should accept the observation of Godâs Spirit in all matters and give our hearts to Him, letting Him be the master and decision-maker. When praying, we should say words in our heart to God with an honest heart so as to have true communion with Him. God observes the deepest parts of our hearts; when He sees that we really want Him and truly seek the truth, the Holy Spirit will work in us, enlighten, illuminate and guide us. But if we just speak nice words to ingratiate ourselves with God or speak falsehoods to deceive Him, we will definitely be abandoned by the Holy Spirit, and those who often deceive God will ultimately be hated and eliminated by Him. The people of Nineveh and the Pharisees are two examples. When the people of Nineveh heard Jonas preaching the words of God, they repented to God in sackcloth and ashes; seeing their sincere repentance, God extended His mercy and spared them from the catastrophe. As for the Pharisees, they prayed on the corners of the streets in front of crowds, trying to make others see how pious and faithful they were. But what was the result? The Lord Jesus loathed them and called them hypocrites, saying, âWell has Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. However, in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of menâ (Mark 7:6-7).
Therefore, if we want to achieve reverence toward God, we must often come before God and pray with an honest heart, allowing God to look upon our hearts, and never deceive or conceal anything from Him. Only thus can we attain Godâs praise. This is the first principle for achieving reverence toward God.
2. We must know Godâs commandments and seek the truth to have true knowledge of Godâs disposition and produce a heart of fearing God.
The Bible says, âThe fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understandingâ (Proverbs 9:10). âWhoever despises the word shall be destroyed: but he that fears the commandment shall be rewarded. The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of deathâ (Proverbs 13:13-14). To have true reverence for God, we must know Godâs commandments and make clear what things we can do and what we cannot. Through seeking the truth in the process of understanding Godâs commandments, we will have true knowledge of Godâs unoffendable disposition, and then produce the heart that truly fears God.
After King David committed adultery, Nathan passed on Godâs words to him. When hearing that, David felt remorse and hated himself, and immediately confessed his sin before God. But because he offended Godâs disposition, the sword never departed from his house after that. It is clear to see, God is righteous to everyone without any personal feelings. So even if the person who offends Godâs disposition is one who is used and loved by God, he will still be punished. Knowing that Godâs disposition is offended by none, David had true reverence toward God and had true repentance. Thus when his servants brought an Israeli girl to him to keep him warm at his old age, David didnât approach to her. Therefore, we should put in a certain amount of effort to understand Godâs commandments. Only when we have knowledge of Godâs righteous disposition that is intolerant of manâs offense can we produce a heart that fears God. It is just the heart of fearing God that can protect us from doing evil and offending Godâs disposition.
3. We must pay attention to Godâs intentions in everything, pray to Him and seek His will frequently, and show consideration to His will and absolutely obey Him.
The Bible records, âJehovah is good to them that wait for him, to the soul that seeks himâ (Lamentations 3:25). In our life, we often encounter some unexpected people, matters, and things, and Godâs work does not usually conform to our conceptions and imaginations. At this time, we need to wait quietly before God with a godly heart, and pay attention to seeking and pondering Godâs intentions and requirements within the people, events and things set up by Him, striving to practice exactly according to Godâs will and demands.
When we do not understand Godâs will, we should never complain against God for any reason in case we sin with our mouth and offend Him. Take Job, whom we are familiar with, for example. When encountering the trials of losing his property and children and his body being covered with sores, he didnât sin with his lips or harbor any suspicion, judgment, or complaint about God; instead, he tore his robe, shaved his head, and prostrated himself before God, waiting and seeking Godâs will. In the end, he said the words that honored God and praised God: âJehovah gave, and Jehovah has taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovahâ (Job 1:21), bearing resounding witness for God before Satan and attaining Godâs approval. His three friends, however, when learning about his situation, did not seek Godâs will or have the slightest reverence for God, but arbitrarily judged Job according to their own conceptions and imaginations, saying that Job must have offended God and thus was punished by God. Because of their ignorance, stubbornness and absurdity, they were hated by God.
God observes the bottom of our hearts and His righteous and holy disposition doesnât tolerate manâs offenses. He knows everyone of us like the palm of His hand. He knows each of our statures and even more knows what kind of environment is beneficial to our life progression. Though He allows many things which donât fit with our notions to befall us, His intention is to save us. We should seek Godâs intentions in all matters, let go of our conception and imagination, and forsake our own flesh to obey and satisfy God. This is a manifestation of having a heart of fearing God. Those who are God-fearing must be much more devout and honest than the common people. While doing things, they keep a low profile and act prudently not arrogantly, fearing that they would sin against God. Such people can live before God at any time, draw near to God in their hearts, and often obtain Godâs guidance as well as His care and protection, so they can walk the path on which God leads them.
I believe if we focus on training and practicing according to the several paths above, we will be able to walk on the path of revering God and become a God-fearing person.
4 Keys Help You Have Effective Prayers
Ever since we started believing in the Lord, we knew that praying to God and communing with God is indispensable to our spiritual life.
Because Godâs word says, âPrayer is one of the ways in which man cooperates with God, it is a means by which man calls upon God, and it is the process by which man is touched by Godâs Spirit. It can be said that those who are without prayer are dead ones without spirit, proof that they lack the faculties to be touched by God. Without prayer, they are unable to attain a normal spiritual life, much less are they able to follow the work of the Holy Spirit; without prayer, they sever their relationship with God, and are incapable of receiving Godâs approval. Being someone who believes in God, the more you pray, the more you are touched by God. Such people have greater resolution and are more able to receive the latest enlightenment from God; as a result, only people like this can be made perfect as soon as possible by the Holy Spirit.â Here it is mentioned that a person without prayer is not someone living before God; anyone who does not pray has no spirit and vice versa. Prayer is the need of our spiritual life. When we read Godâs word, praying can help us gain the Holy Spiritâs enlightenment, understand Godâs will, and find the way of practice from Godâs word; when we encounter dangers and adversities, it was through our prayer that God gives us true faith and courage. So to speak, the more we pray before God, the stronger our faith in God becomes, the more plentiful our understanding of the truth is, and the greater our resolves to love God are. Since prayer can produce such results, some people may ask: For our prayer to be in conformity with Godâs will and achieve these results, what principles should we grasp? Now, Iâd like to share fellowship on this specifically.
Firstly, the true significance of prayer to God is to understand the truth and attain obedience to God and worship of God. We must not, under any circumstances, engage in religious ceremony.
Praying is one way to worship God. If our prayers are to be effective, firstly, we must find the way within Godâs word and understand the true significance of prayer. Godâs word says, âPrayer is not a case of going through the formalities, or following procedure, or reciting the words of God, which is to say, prayer does not mean parroting words and copying others. In prayer, you must give your heart to God, sharing the words in your heart with God so that you may be touched by God.â âIf you pray often and if you know how to pray, frequently praying submissively and reasonably, then frequently your state will be particularly normal inside. If you frequently pray with a few slogans and donât have a burden, or ponder how you are speaking reasonably or unreasonably in your prayer, and what kind of way of speaking is not true worship, and if you are never serious about these matters, then your prayers wonât be successful and the condition inside you will always be abnormal; you will never deeply enter into lessons of what normal reason is, what true submission is, what true worship is, and where to stand. These are all subtle matters.â From Godâs word we understand. When we pray, we must harbor right intentions, take an attitude of piety, and have a seeking, obedient heart. Only in this way can our prayers gain Godâs approval and conform with Godâs will. If we do not pray with seriousness and a quiet heart before God, but pray speaking a few words casually and insincerely, and even unreasonably demanding that God do this or that, then such prayers are not that obeying or worshiping God, but that conducting a religious ceremony and going through the motions. God never accepts such prayers.
Then what is the true significance of prayer? Oneâs prayer is not for the sake of his own fleshly interests, but rather it is to understand Godâs word, to practice the truth according to Godâs word, and to act in accordance with Godâs will. The Lord Jesus said, âBut seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousnessâ (Mat 6:33). Here we see that praying ought to be for the purpose of Godâs work, for satisfying God, and for carrying out His will. Take Peterâs prayer as an example. No matter what things he encountered, he would pray with a submissive heart to seek out Godâs will. He ceased to be his own master even in food, clothing, and shelter; instead, he strictly required himself to practice in accordance with the Lordâs word. So all his prayers were in concert with Godâs will and all that he did could glorify God. Eventually, he was perfected by God, and became a person who was truly obedient to God and who had real worship of God. But the Phariseesâ prayers were completely different. Their prayers were entirely for the sake of maintaining their status and livelihood, for establishing and exalting themselves. Moreover, in order to deceive those ignorant common people into worshiping and obeying them, they purposely stood in the synagogues and at crossroads to engage in long prayers. Therefore, the Lord Jesus criticized them by saying, âWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you devour widowsâ houses, and for a pretense make long prayer: therefore you shall receive the greater damnationâ (Mat 23:14). Through the word of the Lord Jesus, we can see that the Phariseesâ prayers were hypocritical and religious. God does not approve of but despises such prayers.
Secondly, we must draw upon our practical difficulties and problems when praying to God. We must not depart from reality and speak empty words, or talk of letters and doctrines.
In our real life, we always encounter all kinds of difficulties. At this time, how should we pray to God? God says, âThe lowest standard that God requires of people is that they be able to open their hearts to Him. If man gives his true heart to God and says what is really within his heart to God, then God is willing to work in man; God does not want the twisted heart of man, but his pure and honest heart. If man does not truly speak his heart to God, then God does not touch manâs heart, or work within him. Thus, the most crucial thing about praying is to speak the words of your true heart to God, telling God of your flaws or rebellious disposition and completely opening yourself up to God. Only then will God be interested in your prayers; if not, then God will hide His face from you.â Godâs word points out a way of practice to us. When we face practical difficulties, we must pray before God with an attitude of godliness, and opening up our heart to Him: Speak the words of our heart with honesty; do not speak empty or fakery words or lie to deceive Him. But if we shut our hearts to God, and just say some high- and nice-sounding words to deceive God, then God cannot see our honest hearts, and so He will not approve of such prayers. For example, some people pray to God, âOh God! I am willing to dedicate my whole self to You. I am willing to devote all that I have to You!â, but afterward they do nothing for God. Some people say, âOh God! Iâd like to expend for You and to offer my heart to You. Iâd like to serve You and be loyal to You,â but after saying that, they still rebel against God as they did before, is this not deceiving God? Some people pray to God, saying: âOh, God! I am willing to forsake everything to follow You,â but having prayed, they give nothing up. Some people say to God, âOh, God, I will love You my whole life long,â but actually, they never love God in their lifeâwhat they love are themselves, their flesh, their children, and their money. Look at these prayers. They are all empty words deceptive to God. This is sufficient to prove that we are too impious before God, and that we do not have a God-revering heart at all. God doesnât listen to our prayers like this, so they are fruitless. If we do not repent but continue praying in this way, we will be detested by God.
Thirdly, we must frequently pray to God about the problems of performing our duty and entering into life, seeking to understand the truth and enter reality.
When expending for God in fulfilling our duty, many brothers and sisters believe that as long as we confess our sins and repent more in our prayer before the Lord, spread the gospel for the Lord more, do more work and preach more sermons, then we will conform with Godâs will and be praised by God. But in fact, it is not. Such practice is wrong. Because in fulfilling our duty, there are still lots of problems and situations to be really resolved. Godâs word says, âWhen fulfilling your duty or working on something, you should always think: How should I fulfill this duty? What is Godâs intention? Through matters, you draw close to God, and through drawing close to God, you seek the principles and truths to do things, you seek Godâs will from within and do not leave God in all that you do. This is a person who truly believes in God. ⊠Human ideas usually look good and right to people and they look like they do not violate truth that much. People feel that doing it this way is putting truth into practice, they feel that doing it this way is submitting to God. Actually, people are not really seeking God and praying to God about this. They are not striving to do it well to satisfy Godâs will, nor striving to do it well according to His requirements. They do not have this true situation, and they donât have such desire. This is the greatest error people make in their practice, because you believe in God, but God is not in your heart. How is this not a sin? How is this not deceiving yourself? What effect will believing this way have? Where is the practical significance in believing in God?â From Godâs word we can understand that the fulfillment of the duty is a path by which our life may grow. Duty is entrusted to us by God, and we should develop a true burden for it. When we fulfill our duty, it is not the case that as long as we accomplish things that God has entrusted to us, then we are satisfying God. If we do not seek to solve the difficulties and problems in our duty, can we satisfy God? Therefore, we should ask and pray more before God, find a way to practice in His word, and fulfill our duty according to His requirements. We also should at all times reflect on whether we have our own thoughts adulterated in the fulfillment of our duty or whether we are doing something that betrays the truth and principles, and after we find them we should turn around timely. If we can seriously treat everything God entrusts to us like this, then our life will grow in the course of fulfilling our duty, and our corrupt disposition will gradually be cleansed and changed. In fact, not only should we focus on practicing Godâs word in fulfilling our duty, but we should live by Godâs word in our work and daily life. Only when we always practice in this way, can we understand the truth and enter into its reality, change our life disposition, and become a person that is commended by God.
Fourthly, there must be reverence for God in our prayers, and we must be reasonable. We may not make demands of God, coerce God, or take advantage of God, much less may we make trades with God.
Godâs word says, âYou should seek and submit in your prayers; for example, if a matter came upon you that you didnât know how to handle, then you say: âOh God! This matter has come upon me, and I donât know how to handle it. I am willing to satisfy You in this matter, I am willing to seek You, I desire for Your will to come to pass, I desire to do according to Your intentions, and not according to my own. You know that the intentions of man are in violation of Your will; they resist You and do not conform with truth. I only desire to do according to Your intentions. I ask You to enlighten me and guide me in this matter, so that I wonât offend YouâŠ.â This kind of tone of voice in prayer is appropriate. If you merely say: âOh God, I ask You to help me and guide me; prepare a suitable environment and suitable people for me, so that I can do well in my work,â when this kind of prayer is over, you still donât know what Godâs will is, because you are trying to make God do things according to your intentions.â Godâs word gives us a way to practice praying to God. When we pray, we should stand in the right position and be reasonable; we should not make demands of God, or coerce God into doing this and that. No matter what kind of difficulties we meet, or whether we understand Godâs will, we must pray with reverence for God, standing in the position of a creature and keeping a heart of obedience to God. Take the Lordâs prayer as an example. Before the crucifixion, the Lord Jesus prostrated Himself on the ground and prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane: âAnd he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you willâ (Mat 26:39). From this we can see that even when the incarnate God prayed to the heavenly Father, He still maintained an obedient heart, completely acted according to the will of God the Father, and had no choice of His own. But in real life, our prayers are not reasonable. We often demand God do this or that to achieve our own aims without the slightest reverence for God. We force our own desires upon God and ask Him to do things in accordance with our ideas. And we demand things from God with the intention of conducting transactions with God. For example, in the face of difficulties, many people do not care about Godâs will, but only pester Him with incessant prayers that include assistance for solving their problems; when some people encounter sickness, they do not seek to understand Godâs will, but only ask God to give them a quick cure, and take away the torment of their sickness; moreover, there are also some people who always ask God to bless their families, their relatives, their everything, and so forth. All of these prayers are unreasonable, without submission, and do not conform with Godâs will.
Mentioned above are the four principles of praying to God and imploring God. So long as we grasp them, practice and apply them in our real life, we shall obtain enlightenment and illumination from God, understand Godâs will, and receive Godâs guidance and leadership.
3 Tips Tell You How to Follow God
By Li Xing
All devout Christians yearn for the return of the Lord and entering the wonderful kingdom of heaven prepared by Him.
Yet very few of them have reflected on whether God approves of their belief in Him, nor have they rethought what kind of belief is following God and what kind of belief is following men. Today, letâs fellowship some key truths determining the success or failure of our belief in God and discuss what genuinely following God is.
First, one who follows God must obey His words and depend on Him in everything.
Honoring God as great does not just refer to us reciting many chapters of the Scripture, praying to and praising God, or working and spending for the Lord outwardly; it mainly refers to us living by His words after reading them, and truly relying on Him in practical life. Though we canât see God, we shall obey everything from Him; especially when we read His words, we should accept them, act in accordance with His intention, and treasure His words as our principle of life and guidance of action. And when anything happens to us, we shouldnât speak or act according to our personal hobbies or desires. Particularly when it comes to important issues, we should even more seek Godâs will in His words to act on His intention precisely; even if it might do harm to our benefits, we shouldnât give up practicing His words. Only when we regard Godâs words as our principle, give first place to satisfying God, and fulfills His requirement: âyou shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strengthâ (Mark 12:30), can we be called a true follower of God.
Abraham is a good example. God bestowed a son on him when he was about 100 years old, which made him so happy. Later on, however, God asked him to offer up his son as a sacrifice. Though he didnât know why God made this demand, he, with a heart of obedience to Him, gave back his only son to God to satisfy Him without considering his personal gain or loss. Because of this, God greatly blessed Abraham, making him a father of many nations. Abraham was able to put obeying Godâs words and satisfying Him first, which means God reigned as King in his heart. This is the man who depends on God in all things and honors God as great in his heart.
Second, one who follows God must possess true faith in God, and believe that God is almighty and that all is in His hand.
He who truly follows God is supposed to possess true faith in Him. God says, âWhat does faith refer to? Faith is the genuine belief and the sincere heart that humans should possess when they cannot see or touch something, when Godâs work is not in line with human notions, when it is beyond human reach. This is the faith that I speak of. ⊠No matter how God works or what kind of environment you are in, you will be able to pursue life, pursue the development of Godâs work in you, and pursue the truth. You will have an understanding of Godâs actions and you will be able to act according to the truth. This is your genuine faith, and this shows that you have not lost hope in God. You will still seek the truth in refinement, you will be able to truly love God and will not develop doubts of Him. No matter what He does, you will still practice the truth to satisfy Him, and you will be able to deeply seek out His will and be considerate of His will. Only this is true faith in God.â As long as we have true faith in God, we will not deny Him whatever comes to us, and still follow and satisfy Him as before. For instance, when deprived of his property and children, Job, with a heart of obedience to God, didnât judge Godâs work at will or complain against Him but still praised Him, saying: âJehovah gave, and Jehovah has taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovah,â standing witness for God; and such is a true faith in God. As the Lord Jesus healed a blind man and the woman who diseased with an issue of blood, He said to them: âYour faith has made you whole.â From this we can see that, though neither of them had done anything for the Lord before, they firmly believed the Lord is almighty and that all is in His hand; it was their genuine faith that made them gain the approval of God. Thus, possessing a true faith is of great importance in following God.
Third, one who follows God must only sanctify and obey Christ in his heart without looking up to or worshiping any person.
God exhorted us in the Age of Law: âLook to me, and be you saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none elseâ (Isaiah 45:22). And the Lord Jesus said: âI am the way, the truth, and the lifeâ (John 14:6). In the process of following God, we shall affirm that none but Christ is the truth, the way, and the life. Only God is the source of manâs life, and all the truths come from Him. The sermon given by people, no matter how good or lofty it sounds, cannot be our life. Even if it is in conformity with the truth, it cannot be called the truth, but can only be called words in accord with the truth. If we can justly look upon this fact, we will not worship man because of his caliber and gifts. Moreover, we must be able to discern whether manâs sermon is the letters and doctrines in the Bible, and whether it is from God and in accord with His words. If we are not able to discern these, we will be easily led astray by a variety of fallacies of people, and then believe in God with our lips but worship people in our hearts, thus missing the chance of salvation. As it is written in the Bible, âAs for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain helpâ (Lamentations 4:17).
In addition, we shall not be restrained by people; we ought to obey and follow what comes from God, and refuse what comes from man. No matter he is a pastor, an elder, or a preacher, if his talk confirms with Godâs words, then we shall accept it; but if it is against Godâs will, we shall reject it and obey Godâs words. We should never fear influence or status but should only sanctify the truth and Christ. As God says, âPeople who believe in God should obey God and worship Him. You should not exalt or look up to any person; you ought not to give first place to God, second place to the people you look up to, and third place to yourself. No person should hold a place in your heart, and you should not consider peopleâparticularly those you venerateâto be on a par with God, to be His equal. This is intolerable to God.â
Only when we are able to act according to these truths in our life can we be considered as true followers of God who are possessed of reality; if we just verbally acknowledge these words or simply accept them in mind, it doesnât represent that we are true followers of God.
In this light, people who donât have the reality of the truths above are no doubt following men. Those who follow men donât honor Christ as great or have genuine faith in God. So they feel it more practical and convenient to seek for manâs help when encountering things. And they always listen to those who possess status and gifts, and never pay attention to looking unto or depending on God with their hearts. As they always do so, unconsciously, Godâs place in their hearts becomes ever smaller and the place of the people they worship becomes ever greater. Eventually, they believe in God outwardly but in essence worship, believe in, and follow people. And such believers can be seen in each church; they completely believe in and follow their pastors, who seem to have become their lords and gods. As they slide from the path of believing in God into obeying and following people, they never rely on God in anything but look unto and worship men, always asking men what to do and listening to menâs words. There is no doubt that those who always look unto and worship men are actually believing in and following men.
Following people means that they follow their leaders or coworkers whom they worship, and that God does not have much of a place in their hearts. Having merely hung a sign saying they believe in God, they never seek Godâs will, but imitate and copy people; particularly when itâs something major, they let people decide and control their fate. They have no discernment of what is spoken by people, but accept it and listen to it as long as it sounds reasonable, regardless of whether it is in accord with the truth. Such peopleâs belief in God has no principles and there is no truth to their actions; they listen to whoever speaks sense, and even if their idols take the wrong path, they follow them to the very end. If God condemns their idols, then they will have conceptions toward God, and cling tightly to their idols. Their reasons are that âwe should listen to whoever is in charge of us; the nearer power is better than the higher power.â Such people are purely those who follow people and are possessed of a muddled belief.
It can be said that whoever looks unto and follows men doesnât have true faith in God, much less a heart of reverence for Him. For their belief is totally built on enjoying the grace, which is generally called âseeking bread to satisfy hunger.â For example, the five thousand people in the Age of Grace, fed with five loaves and two fish by the Lord Jesus, had no genuine faith in Him, hoping merely for some grace. Their belief is merely a simple conviction and spiritual sustenance, like that of the unbelievers believing the existence of the Old Man in the Sky, and cannot be approved by the Lord. So the Lord treated them with no more than some grace and didnât give sermons or supply the truth among them. As God says, âThere are some people whose belief has never been acknowledged in Godâs heart. In other words, God does not recognize that these people are His followers, because God does not praise their belief. For these people, regardless of how many years they have followed God, their ideas and views have never changed. They are like the non-believers, adhering to the non-believersâ principles and manner of doing things, adhering to their laws of survival and belief. They never accepted the word of God as their life, never believed that Godâs word is truth, never intended on accepting Godâs salvation, and never recognized God as their God. They regard believing in God as some kind of amateur hobby, treating God merely as spiritual sustenance, so they donât think itâs worth it to try and understand Godâs disposition, or Godâs essence. ⊠How does God look upon these people? He views them as non-believers.â
Knowing the difference between following God and following man, we should learn the result of following man lest we walk on such path. The words with which the Lord cursed the Pharisees are well known to us, but weâve never paid attention to the ending of those who looked unto and followed them. The Lord Jesus said, âWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselvesâ (Matthew 23:15). âLet them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditchâ (Matthew 15:14). From the Lordâs words, we can see the result of the followers of the Pharisees. Because they saw the Pharisees had believed in Jehovah God for so many years and served Him for generations, and had much knowledge of the Scripture, they thought that the Pharisees should be approved by God according to their own mind. Therefore, they didnât accept the Lord Jesus even when seeing Him perform the signs that no one could perform and hearing Him express the truth that no one could utter. Seeing that the chief priests and Pharisees didnât follow the Lord Jesus but persecuted Him, they followed them in crucifying Him without discernment, committing a heinous crime.
Reviewing the history, we should reflect on ourselves: Arenât we the same as them? Noble and dignified in appearance and good at reciting the Bible and giving sermons, the pastors, who graduated from theological schools, have been giving sermons for several decades and captured our hearts. We consider that they are always right whatever they talk, that the Lord must first give revelation to them when He returns, and that they will definitely gain salvation. So in our view, listening to the pastors is listening to God, and we will certainly enter into the kingdom of heaven as long as following them. Yet, we have never measured their deeds with Godâs words, but blindly obey them without discernment even when seeing them do something not in accordance with the truth. Then how could we be called a follower of God? If we live in our conceptions and illusions all the time, will we be approved by the Lord Jesus? We believe in God with our lips, but worship people in our hearts, which is just like the revelation of the Lord Jesus: âThis people draws near to me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of menâ (Matthew 15:8-9).
Considering those behaviors above, whom do we truly follow, God or men? Have we realized the seriousness of following men? I hope that if we have the answer, then we can walk on the path of following God as soon as possible, so as to realize our dream of entering the kingdom of heaven.
I Find the Way to Victory in Spiritual Warfare
By Zhuiqiu, United States
When coming before God, we will often undergo the temptation and disturbance of Satan. Faced with Satanâs temptation and disturbance, I was once distressed and weak, but after experiencing it, I gained a lot. âŠ
In 2011, I believed in the Lord Jesus because of my illness. In the initial years I was zealous. Though I ran a shop to be taken care of by myself and lived far from the church, I still actively attended meetings on each Lordâs Day. Until later I found there was no new light in the sermons of the pastors. They either talked the same old things or testified how they worked and suffered and so I felt I couldnât gain supply. Every time I would return from the meeting with disappointment. Therefore, I prayed and asked the Lord to prepare a better church for me.
Afterward, a sister preached Almighty Godâs kingdom gospel to me. Through the sisterâs fellowship, I came to understand: The reason why the church grows desolate is because the pastors and elders have deviated from the Lordâs way and disobeyed the Lordâs commandments. They never make clear how to practice and experience the Lordâs words in their preaching. And instead they often interpret biblical knowledge and exalt and testify themselves to be adored by people, leading believers to go astray from the Lordâs way. This is why they are detested by God. Another reason is that God has been incarnated to do the work of judging and purifying man in the last days. The work of the Holy Spirit has shifted onto those who have accepted the kingdom gospel of Almighty God. Yet those who havenât kept up with Godâs work will be eliminated by the work of the Holy Spirit and fall into darkness. In the several fellowships, I found what the sister talked not only conformed to the Bible but also was something I had never heard, which provided for and edified me. Then I accepted Godâs new work and I could have new light and gain every day by thirstily reading Godâs words. Just when I was immersed in joy of the watering and feeding of Godâs words, Satanâs disturbance soon came upon me unexpectedly.
One afternoon, my son came to the shop for goods. Seeing the book of Godâs words I had put on the table, he opened it and asked me in astonishment: âMum, is this from The Church of Almighty God?â I said to him excitedly: âYes. This book is very good. Read it in your free time.â âMum, how come you believe in Almighty God?â With that, he took out his cellphone and found the news about May 28 Zhaoyuan Case for me to read, and then tried to dissuade me from the faith. I immediately got muddled, thinking: What to make of it? Is it really the same as what the news reports? My son continued seriously: âMum, The news has reported this. Can it possibly be false? You should return the book to them as soon as possible and never come into contact with them. Youâd better go back to the former church.â After my son left, my heart couldnât calm down anymore. My sonâs words and the sisterâs kept showing up in my head. I thought: The sisterâs fellowships are all in line with the Bible and they are practical. Also, Godâs words have opened the mysteries of Revelation and there is nothing incorrect. But what can account for the news? Should I accept the kingdom gospel of Almighty God? What should I do to be in accordance with the Lordâs will?
A few days later, the sister came for a meeting with me. I didnât know how to face her, nor dared to raise my head to look at her. I thought that the sister traveled a long way for meetings with me and also helped me take care of my grandson. She looked very kind and treated me gently, unlike what the rumors said. If I drove her away, I would feel guilt in my heart; if otherwise, I was afraid that I would be deceived. At the very moment when I was in a dilemma, I remembered the Lord Jesus said: âAsk, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to youâ (Luke 11:9). So I thought: Now there is true or false news. Wasnât Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident created by the Chinese Communist Party? If I donât seek, I will never know what the truth is all about. If I miss the opportunity of welcoming the Lord because of believing the rumors, wonât I regret it all my life? I decided to ask the sister about the truth. Then I recounted to her the occurrence of the last few days and the confusion in my heart.
The sister played to me the videoâLifting the Veil: The Truth About the Evil Chinese Communist Partyâs Show Trial, and then read a passage of Godâs words to me: âKin who are not of the faith (your children, your husband or wife, your sisters or your parents, and so on) should not be forced into the church. Godâs household is not short of members, and there is no need to make up its numbers with people who have no use. All those who do not believe gladly must not be led into the church. This decree is directed at all people. In this matter you should check, monitor and remind each other, and no one may violate it. Even when kin who are not of the faith do reluctantly enter the church, they must not be issued books or given a new name; such people are not of Godâs household, and their entry into the church must be put a stop to by any means necessary. If trouble is brought upon the church due to the invasion of demons, then you yourself will be expelled or will have restrictions placed upon you. In short, everyone has a responsibility toward this matter, but you should also not be reckless, or use it to settle personal scores.â
The sister fellowshiped: âIt is clearly written in Godâs words that the church has principles in preaching the gospel. Those who are not of the faith can never be forced into the church, even including our relatives. As we all clearly know, the ten administrative decrees are equivalent to the ten commandments in the Age of Law and they must be obeyed by every one of Godâs chosen people. Brothers and sisters from The Church of Almighty God never force others to accept the gospel, and there are never cases that they beat gospel targets who are unwilling to believe in Almighty God. Yet the perpetrators in the video beat the person to death because they failed to get her phone number. This is enough to prove that the several perpetrators are not from The Church of Almighty God.â After knowing the truth, I said: âYes. When reporters interviewed them, the several perpetrators clearly stated âwe never had contact with The Church of Almighty God, because they are very secretiveâ and âwhat the state cracks down on is the Almighty God that Zhao believes in, not the Almighty God that we believe in.â They confess that they are not from The Church of Almighty God. This is obviously framing and defaming the Church.â However, I still had some doubts: Since they are not members of The Church of Almighty God, why has the CCP insisted that they are from the Church? Filled with confusion, I asked the sister again.
The sister read another passage of Godâs words: âSatan is at war with God, trailing along behind Him. Its objective is to demolish all the work God wants to do, to possess and control those whom God wants, to completely extinguish those whom God wants. If they are not extinguished, then they come to Satanâs possession to be used by itâthis is its objective.â The sister fellowshiped: âAs is known to us, Satan is the enemy of God. Where there is Godâs work, there is Satanâs disturbance and destruction. God has been working to save man, while Satan tries various tricks to demolish Godâs work and deceive and corrupt people to be saved by God in an attempt to let people go to hell and receive punishment along with it. The CCP is exactly the evil force of Satan and it particularly hates the truth and God. Over the past years, Almighty God has expressed all the truth of purifying and saving people, the kingdom gospel has been spread across the whole mainland China within only twenty years, and millions of people have returned to Almighty God. When seeing this, the CCP fears that people all accept the true way and reject it, so it started to frenziedly suppress and persecute Christians from The Church of Almighty God. Now Almighty Godâs kingdom gospel has expanded to many countries in the world, and Almighty Godâs expression and the facts of Godâs chosen people suffering the CCPâs persecution have been made into films and uploaded to different big foreign websites. The CCP fears that its heinous crimes of persecuting and afflicting Godâs chosen people are exposed to the world. And then it used the May 28 Shandong Zhaoyuan Case to frame and make false charges against The Church of Almighty God, defame the Church, and fabricate public scandals for suppressing and banning the Church of Almighty God, attempting to destroy Godâs work. This is the sinister and evil motive of the CCP.â
After hearing the sisterâs words, I saw the CCP was really too shameless and despicable. Through the communication with the sister, I was freed from the doubts and misgivings in my heart, and felt how arduous and difficult Godâs work was. This even more stirred up my resolution to pursue the truth and follow God. Later on, I told to my son about the truth of May 28 Zhaoyuan Case, he gave his tacit consent and no longer opposed me. Sometimes when my son came across the sister who came for meetings, he would say hello to her politely.

Unexpectedly, several months later, my son said to me seriously: âLately, I went to the church and heard the priest proclaimed lots of negative information about The Church of Almighty God. He said we canât contact people who believe in Eastern Lightning, so stop your faith.â Seeing my son had been deceived by the priest, I was afraid that he would follow the priest to resist God and so I said solemnly: âDo you believe in the priest or in God?â My son blinked for a second and said: âOf course I believe in God. But all that the priest says comes from God. The priests all graduated from seminaries and they are very familiar with the Bible. They surely know much.â I asked my son again: âDo the priests have truth? Do their words match the Bible? Do you know what the Pharisees are? Have you forgotten how the Pharisees nailed the Lord Jesus to the cross? Those Pharisees all knew the Bible and compassed land and sea spreading the laws of Jehovah God, but they defined God within their conceptions and imaginations, within the literal words of the Bible. When the Lord Jesus began to work and preach sermons and brought the gospel of kingdom, they didnât care how profound the Lord Jesusâ preaching was or how many miracles He performed. As long as His name was not Messiah, they would resist and condemn. They didnât have any reverence for God. In order to protect their status and livelihood, they even colluded with the Roman government to crucify the Lord Jesus. After the Lord Jesusâ resurrection, not only did they not accept, but they persecuted the disciples of the Lord Jesus. They believed in and served God in name but resisted God in substance. Thatâs why the Lord Jesus rebuked and condemned them, saying that they were blind guides. Son, what we believe in is God, not man. The Jewish people followed the Pharisees to resist and condemn the Lord Jesus, committing a monstrous sin and suffering the curse of God. If we donât investigate but blindly hear the priestâs words, are we not the same as the Jewish people following the Pharisees to resist the Lord Jesus? By contrast, when Peter heard the Lord Jesusâ words, he followed Him and recognized that the Lord Jesus was the Messiah prophesied to come. If we only listen to the priest rather than contact and investigate The Church of Almighty God, how can we recognize whether Almighty Godâs words are the voice of God and whether Almighty God is the return of the Lord Jesus? Only by contacting and investigating can we know the truth.â Hearing what I said, my son had no idea how to refute it, but he still held some refusal in his heart, and said: âDonât believe by mistake, for many people have said that this church is not good.â I said: âPeople who followed the Lord Jesus at that time were few while those who followed the Pharisees to judge and condemn the Lord Jesus were many, right? If we measure according to this, donât we condemn and reject the Lord Jesus? Now through investigation, I have confirmed that Almighty God is the return of the Lord Jesus. You should also take a serious investigation.â My son found he couldnât persuade me, so he went back to his room with helplessness.
Later, my son often came to my shop. The sister testified Godâs kingdom gospel to him several times, but he couldnât take in one word. He also told me: âAs long as you give up believing in God, you can do whatever you like. You can close the shop and go play anywhere you please. Or you can watch TV dramas if you have nothing to do.â At his words, I felt they were both annoying and laughable. Why would he rather let me watch TV dramas than let me have meetings and read Godâs words? I told my son with smile: âBelieving in and worshiping God is what I like and what I most want to do. After accepting Godâs kingdom gospel, I have known ever more of Godâs work, have found the way of breaking away from sin, and have lived a full life. If you are truly good to me, you should support me.â Finally my son couldnât change my mind and went away in anger.
The next day, when I was having meal in the shop, my son suddenly came in and said to me blankly: âMum, I have a fateful thing to discuss with you.â Seeing my sonâs solemn look, I wondered: In the past my son never spoke to me in this way. Is there anything serious today? My son said: âWill you choose believing in God or choose me? Just make a final choice. If you choose me, I can take you to the hospital when youâre ill and I can look after you whatever happens to you; if you choose believing in God, I will ignore you regardless of anything you encounter in the future. Mum, just think: I am your own flesh and blood. Anyway, you have to rely on me, right? If you believe in God, who will take care of you? Think about it seriously!â Hearing my son let me make a choice between God and him, I felt at once that my head buzzed, thinking: How will this happen? Is there anything wrong for me to believe in God? I just want to properly believe in and follow God, but why doesnât my son understand me? I have this only son; if he really leave me alone, how shall I live? One side is God who loves and saves me, and the other is my only son. Facing such choice, I felt it was piercing my heart and grew weak unwittingly. In pain, I came before God and prayed: âO God! Iâm very weak now, for I donât know how to make the choice. He is my only son, yet I know I canât give up believing in You. However, my son keeps stopping me and I donât know what I should do. God, please lead me and let me understand Your will. âŠâ
At a meeting, the sister saw me in a bad state and asked me with concern. Having learned my situation, she read a passage of Godâs words for me: âIn every step of work that God does within people, externally it appears to be interactions between people, as if born of human arrangements, or from human interference. Behind every step that God does in you is Satanâs wager with Godâbehind it all is a battle.â
The sister fellowshiped: âOn this matter, outwardly it seems that your son is persecuting and hindering you from believing in God, but this actually is a spiritual battle. As Satan sees that we accept Godâs kingdom gospel and come before God, itâs unwilling to admit defeat, so it uses our relatives to attack us, trying to shatter our faith so that we betray God and lose the chance of being saved by God to be devoured by Satan. And meanwhile, God uses such environment to test whether we have real faith in Him. Just like when Job was in trials, all that befell him was manâs doing. Yet behind the scenes, itâs Satan making a wager with God. Job lost a mountain of sheep and cattle, great fortune, and his pretty children, but he didnât reject or betray God. He still followed the way of fearing God and shunning evil, kept his loyalty to God, overcame Satan by his faith, and stood testimony to glorify God. Since then, he attained Godâs double blessings, and became a truly free man who worshiped God. Satan would never dare to tempt Job. Today as long as we rely on God to stand testimony, Satan will be shamed and defeated.â
At the time, I understood this was a spiritual battle, thinking: In order to make Job reject God, Satan not only took away all his possessions and children but also caused him to have painful sores all over. However, Job had never complained against God, and when he stood testimony, Satan fled in panic. At this thought, I couldnât help feeling that Satan was too malicious and hateful. If I made compromise with my son, wouldnât I fall into Satanâs scheme?
Then the sister continued: âWe should also understand manâs fate is in Godâs command, and not decided by any other person. Even if your son can look after your flesh temporarily, he canât control your fate or resolve your spiritual emptiness and pain, much less does he decide your outcome and destination. In Matthew 6:26 the Lord Jesus said:âBehold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?â You see, God even feeds the animals, let alone us. God treats us like His children, and He will be responsible for our life. We should have faith in God.â
At this moment, Godâs words occurred in my mind: âFaith is like a single log bridge, those who cling abjectly to life will have difficulty in crossing it.â I thought that my fate was in Godâs hand, not controlled by my son. Even if my son could attend to my flesh, he could never command my fate. With God as my rear guard, I felt much assured in my heart, had faith in the way ahead, and resolved to stand testimony and shame Satan.
In the following several evenings, my son was unwilling to talk to me as he came home. And he even avoided me, blacklisted me on WeChat, and kept me from reaching him by phone. I could only pray to God and was willing to commit all this to Godâs hand. In my free time, I would actively talk with my son about matters in our life. Unknowingly, I could get through to him. Sometimes when I had meetings, my son saw and no longer opposed me. As long as he had free time, he would take my grandson away from me. In this way I could have more time to gather with brothers and sisters quietly. Though my son didnât speak anything, I could feel his estrangement with me was gradually gone.
In this spiritual battle, I was once distressed and weak because of my sonâs repeated hindrances, but this experience made me profoundly feel the sinisterness and malice of Satan. At the same time I came to know the authority and power of Godâs words. By relying on Godâs words as my âweapon,â I had faith and strength, and defeated Satan time and again. And this simultaneously gave me a firmer resolution to follow God. All the glory be to God!
Review of Caught the Last Train: A Stream in the Desert
By Mingyue, Greece
Today, I want to introduce the movie Caught the Last Train which is another successful production produced by 1991 VIDEO STUDIO.
When the movie begins, two scenery shots, the imploring prayer of the hero Chen Peng kneeling under the cross, the dim lighting and the empty churchâall of these simply and clearly reflect the current desolate situation of the church.
As a pastor, Chen Peng cannot support the brothers and sisters who donât attend gatherings because they grow cold in faith and enjoy the world. He even cannot write a sermon in deep night. Here, the director uses the props such as the wadded-up paper, a table full of spiritual books to reveal the pastorâs suffering and helplessness of failing to write a sermon. It is certainly a kind of revelation and irony. Then in the next scene, we know from the believersâ murmurs that the sermon Chen Peng wrote with an effort last night is just the same old thing.
During the meeting, the several believers have no heart to listen to the sermon; some of them are dozing off, and some chatting. Chen Peng standing on the platform still preaches the same old teachings as usual. He feels more helpless than the listeners. After the gathering, Chen Peng brings up the rear. A shot of Chenâs back without any dialogues elevates his helplessness and the desolation of the church. This is directorsâ artistic approachââSilence is better than noise.â
Chen Peng has been greatly troubled by the current situation of the church. Worse still, he meets the problem that his co-worker Sister Gao wants to help her husband manage a factory, and then he also hears that the preacher Brother Liu wants to work away from home. No matter how he tries to persuade them, prays for them or reads the Bible for them, he fails to change their ideas.
In the face of the desolation of the church, Chen Peng has been searching for the resolution to this problem here and there, but it is of no avail. The co-worker Tang Wei finally figures something out: having a kind of dinner meeting every week and letting believers bear testimony and encourage everyone to walk out of the entanglements in life and to attend meetings on the Lordâs Day. As a result, there are many people in the mirthful meeting, but the topics they are talking about at the tables are business, insurance, wedding and so on. Everyone feels indebted to the Lord after the dinner and promises to have a good meeting next time. Seeing that, Chen Peng reveals a satisfied smile on his face.
In the scene, Chen Peng is walking to the church with great expectation, longing for a mob scene, but instead, the reality disappoints him like a pot of cold water is being poured on him.
The desolation of the church becomes the most trouble for Chen Peng and his only lifeline is to pray to God in tears. On the train to the provincial capital, with grief and puzzle on his face, he is looking forward to resolving the problem in this co-worker meeting in the capital. However, in desperate straits, he still returns carrying his confusion. He is so distressed that he wonders how to walk the road ahead. In the cold winter, he feels perplexed in his heart. This scene brings out the church with no vitality even more, which is indeed disappointing.
Now churches are generally in a desolate situation. Presumably Chen Pengâs perplexity is the same as most pastorsâ and eldersâ. Some people say: âThe work of the Holy Spirit has shifted because of the Lordâs return, so the church is desolate.â Some people say: âWhen the Lord comes back again, âbecause iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure to the end, the same shall be savedâ (Matthew 24:12-13). So we must pray more and patiently wait for the Lordâs appearing.â There are many differing views on the desolation of churches.
Manâs end is Godâs beginning. Invited by Wang Zhong, his schoolmate of a theological seminary, Chen Peng rides in the bus to the capital again. He is looking out of the window as though expecting a surprise will happen this time.
Besides Chen Peng, many co-workers are invited by Wang Zhong to resolve the problem of the desolation of the church. Here, the director arranges a big debate scene where many people, sitting face to face, discuss this problem. Invited by Pastor Wang, three sisters, from The Church of Almighty God, meet with everyone unexpectedly. They point out the reason for the desolation of the church and the source of this problem. Hearing their fellowship, everyone sees the light. Chen Peng also feels insuppressible joy, but what he most wants to know is how to resolve the problem. So do others.
Then, a spectacular debate is opened. The exciting scenes appear one after another. From this debate, we know: Godâs work is always developing in a forward direction. The desolation of the temple at the end of the Age of Law is a depiction of the desolation of the church nowadays. Jesus came and brought the gospel of the kingdom of heaven, fulfilled the law and brought the eternal sin offering for man. The facts prove that when Godâs new work begins, the work of the Holy Spirit will shift onto His new work, go forward, and lead mankind into a new age, and then the old age becomes the history. Similarly, nowadays God has returned and done His new work in the flesh, so the Holy Spiritâs work has shifted. Hence, it is inevitable that the church which canât follow Godâs footprints is desolate. Only by following Godâs new work can we walk out of the desolation. And this is the only way to resolve this problem.
Chen Peng desires to resolve the problem of the desolation of the church. Yet he has been holding on to his religious conception for many years, thinking: âThe Lord will come in the Spirit. And He will not come in the flesh.â Hence, he canât accept the truth that the Lord has come in the flesh and done His new work. And even he changes his countenance, blames Wang Zhong and wants to leave. But he is reluctant to sit down after othersâ persuasion. At this time, Chen Peng is sitting opposite to three sisters of The Church of Almighty God in a lofty manner as if he will fight with an enemy. However, everyone can understand his attitude. Wang Zhong advises him with a smile. The three sisters overlook his attitude, and fellowship about Godâs word patiently. They read Godâs latest utterances passage after passage, some of which reveal the desolation of the church and some of which tell us the meaning of Godâs every stage of work. They fellowship about many contents reasonably. Chen Peng is shocked by this, because what they read cannot be spoken by man. At the moment, he is perplexed. He stands up and walks to a big tree in the yard, thinking it over and seeking silently. Ice and snow in the sun looks a little harsh and his heart comes to melt like ice in the sun. From his seeking and praying, we can see his sincerity and true heart of belief in God. He says he wishes to accept and obey if Almighty God truly is the return of the Lord. This scene made me remember Nathanael also prayed under a fig tree because of the desolation of the church at the end of the Age of Law. When Philip told him the Lord Jesus had come, he said dismissively: âCan there any good thing come out of Nazareth?â Jesus answered and said to him: âBefore that Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw youâ (John 1:48). At that time, Nathanael recognized the Lord Jesus is the Son of God and decided to follow Him. So is Chen Peng the same as Nathanael? Whether Almighty God is the Lord Jesus returned or not, whether Chen Peng can follow Godâs footprints or not, whether he can resolve the problem of the desolation of the church or not are still mysteries. Letâs continue seeing the movie.
At last, the camera stops on Chen Pengâs face. He is not melancholy but reveals a relaxed smile and this is his first joy deeply in his heart in the whole movie, which is in sharp contrast to his previous distress and helplessness in the past. The director wants to tell audiences by such an artistic approach: Chen Peng walks out of his conceptions and perplexity, and his difficulty is resolved. Like a stream, Almighty Godâs word is nourishing him. He is moved to tears and kneels down on the floor. The scene shifts to his face and his tears, like stringless beads, slip onto the floor. He pours out his regret to God, and he is more grateful for Godâs mercy and waiting which make him follow Godâs footprints and obtain the supply of the living water of life.
At the end of the movie, several bridge plots show the revival of the church in which Chen Peng is. Sister Gao who helped her husband manage the factory, Brother Liu who worked away from home, brothers and sisters who talked about mundane topics in the dinner meetingâall of them appear in the scene where believers are reading Godâs word. Finally, the camera pans to Chen Peng. He and his wife hurry to attend a gathering early in the morning, and what they hear is the words âWeâre waiting for youâ when they reach there. Here, it clearly tells audiences the church isnât desolate anymore. Just as Chen Pengâs inner soliloquy behind the closing number âGod Has Brought His Glory to the Eastâ: Without Godâs work and the supply of Godâs word, people will naturally get dry and the church will become desolate. Itâs in vain no matter how hard they try. Those who keep up with Godâs work are really different. They are all vigorous and energetic, free and released! God truly blesses us.
The movie truly reveals the current situation of religionâchurches are desolate, and at the same time, it also resolves this problem and shows a path to those who are sincerely searching for the work of the Holy Spirit. It is a movie which can solve the current problems people encounter, just as the hero finally walks out of the predicaments after overcoming obstacles. It brings hope to and touches many people who live in perplexity. Caught the Last Train is such a movie.
The Almighty Saves My Newborn Dying Baby From Leukemia
By Chao Ling
âRing, ring, ring âŠâ
âHello! Mom, whatâs wrong?â
âChao Ling, you need to take leave from work today. Your child had a sudden fever, so I brought him to the hospital of the town for an examination. Then the doctor said each of the childâs blood indicators was very poor and that the childâs condition was not good. Moreover, he suggested us to take the child to the Peopleâs Hospital.â
âWhat? I will be there at once.â
After she who was at work answered this urgent telephone from her mother-in-law, Chao Lingâs mind suddenly went blank. Then she hung up immediately and recklessly hurried to go to the Peopleâs Hospital despite the heavy rain.
Chao Ling was a newborn babyâs mother. She was similar to many other ordinary mothers: She doesnât ask her child to be rich, but all she asks is that her baby will grow up healthily and happily, will be safe and well all his life. However, on the twentieth of August of 2016 in the morning, she heard the bad news that her several-month-old son had a sudden serious disease. Then she arrived at the Peopleâs Hospital uneasily and got saddened by seeing her son in a coma on his sickbed. In the afternoon, when the result of her childâs examination came out, the doctor told her: âYour childâs disease is very serious. The level of his platelets is so low that it can cause a cerebral hemorrhage easily. His life is at risk any time, so he must be hospitalized right now. When he is in hospital, he needs a kind of drug named Îł-globulin. This drug is very expensive and will cost at least more than ten thousand for three days. Then we will observe whether the platelets increase or not. If they are still in a low level, he should have another examination.â Hearing that, Chao Ling saw blackness and then implored the doctor to save her child. She was willing to try even though the treatment would cost more money. As a result, after keeping using theyâGlobulin for three days, her childâs blood indicators were the same as before. Then the doctor told her that her child may be had leukemia and advised her to take him to the Childrenâs Hospital in the city for an examination and diagnosis.
In September of 2016, for the purpose of reaching an accurate diagnosis, Chao Ling and her husband took their son to the Childrenâs Hospital in the city which is an authority on blood disease. When the childâs result came out, the doctor told them clearly: âThe child has Leukemia. He should be hospitalized for chemotherapy, but thereâs not much hope of his recovery so youâd better be prepared for this.â The doctorâs words buried deep in Chao Lingâs heart like a sharp knife. At that moment, she was paralyzed, sitting on the ground without one word, let tears roll willfully, and cried out nonstop in her heart: âWho can save my child? Who can save him? âŠâ After she calmed down, her husband discussed with her: âOur son is very young, so he mustnât bear the pain of chemotherapy. Whatâs more, the expert has said the hope of our childâs recovery is not much. Hence, why do we have him suffer such pain and torment? We should take him home and accompany him carefully. Letâs wait and see.â
Chao Ling resigned as manager in a hotel in order to look after her son meticulously. However, her sonâs health got worse and worse day by day. On the twentieth of September of 2016, her son had a sudden cough and didnât stop. Thus she and her husband had to take their child to the hospital. After using gamma globulin drugs for several days, her son still had a pale complexion, not eating or drinking, not crying or clamoring, just with a drowsy look. When she saw her son, her heart was bleeding. In the state of helplessness, she had to repeatedly pray to Heaven in the heart: âOh, Heaven, we indeed have nowhere to go. I beg You to save my child! Please show me a way!â Then her childâs cough improved after he stayed in hospital for more than ten days. However, it was the third day after her son leaving the hospital. Her son began to suffer from vomiting and diarrhea and taking all kinds of antidiarrheal medication would not help. At last, she indeed had no way, and then had to take her child to a traditional Chinese medical hospital. After her son stayed in hospital for a period of time, his belly got better. Yet, as regards the low level of platelets, the doctor still had no way. In the face of her sonâs disease, Chao Ling wanted to cry but felt tearless, only saw the disease torment and swallow her sonâs young life day by day. Afterward, she was not resigned to give up, so she discussed with her family once again and then decided to take the child to the authoritative hospitals in a big city.
In October of 2016, Chao Ling and her husband took their son to Shanghai Childrenâs Hospital. Seeing the thick and big needle stuck into her sonâs skeleton to take bone marrow, she collapsed thoroughly. She had no control over her grief and cried squatting on the ground. Helplessness, fear and anxiety pressed down on her heart like a huge stone. She constantly prayed Heaven to give her a thread of hope. But what made her despaired was that the diagnostic result was the same: Thereâs not much hope of her sonâs recovery, and heâs just able to stay alive for six months to one year at most. Knowing her child had no hope of living, she looked back to several months for which she had gotten along with him and he had brought her happiness and joy. However, when the disease would take him away, as a mother, she could do nothing, and so her heart was broken.
In the first lunar month of 2017, under Godâs marvelous arrangement, Chao Ling was lucky to hear Godâs gospel in the last days. When she, in tears, told her sonâs disease and her pain in the heart to the aunt who had spread the gospel to her, the aunt comforted her: âChild, donât worry. Our mankindâs fates are all in Godâs hands. Thus only by coming before God can we obtain support and help in our heart. God knows your suffering, He is just by your side, and He also hopes you can come before Him soon, follow and believe in Him to end such painful and helpless days.â The aunt pointed to a passage of Godâs words as she spoke, reading it to Chao Ling: âYou live like such, with no hope; he exists like such, with no aim. There is only the Holy One in the legend who will come to save those who moan in suffering and long desperately for His arrival. This belief cannot be realized so far in the people who are unconscious. However, the people still yearn for it so. The Almighty has mercy on these people who suffer deeply. At the same time, He is fed up with these people who have no consciousness, because He has to wait too long for the answer from humans. He desires to seek, seek your heart and your spirit. He wants to bring you food and water and to awaken you, so you are no longer thirsty, no longer hungry. When you are weary and when you begin to feel the desolation of this world, do not be perplexed, do not cry. Almighty God, the Watcher, will embrace your arrival any timeâ (âThe Sighing of the Almightyâ). Godâs words just as a warm feeling rushed into Chao Lingâs heart, which made her pain and sadness buried in her heart for long time burst out in a short time. She burst into tears and sobbed. She thought she was the person who had nowhere to go in the world. She exhausted possible effort because of her sonâs illness, but it would not help. She thought if she lost the sole son, she wouldnât have the courage to survive. Yet, God observed her grief, called for and waited for her by her side, had her come before God and gave her support and comfort. She never thought it was God that lighted the lamp in her heart and illuminated her road ahead when she felt most painful and despaired. Although her child was indeed sick, she felt some peaceful and stable and didnât feel helpless as before. She was willing to accept God as her Savior and to have Him arrange fates of her and her son.
Before long, Chao Ling and her brothers and sisters lived the church life. Through reading Godâs words, she even more knew the authority of God dominating everything. God says: âThese things came after man was tempted by Satan and their flesh became degenerate, such as the pain of the flesh, the troubles and emptiness of the flesh and the extreme wretchedness of the world. Satan began to torment man after it had corrupted them. Man then became more and more degenerate, the illnesses of man were deepened, and their suffering became more and more severe. Man felt more and more the emptiness, the tragedy and the inability to go on living of the world, and they felt less and less hope for the world. So this suffering was brought on man by Satan, and it only came after man had been corrupted by Satan and became degenerateâ (âThe Meaning of Godâs Experiencing the Pain of the Worldâ). âRegardless of how âpowerfulâ Satan is, regardless of how audacious and ambitious it is, regardless of how great is its ability to inflict damage, regardless of how wide-ranging are the techniques with which it corrupts and lures man, regardless of how clever are the tricks and schemes with which it intimidates man, regardless of how changeable is the form in which it exists, it has never been able to create a single living thing, has never been able to set down laws or rules for the existence of all things, and has never been able to rule and control any object, whether animate or inanimate. Throughout the vast expanse of the universe, there is not a single person or object that was born from it, or exists because of it; there is not a single person or object that is ruled by it, or controlled by it. On the contrary, it not only has to live under the dominion of God, but, moreover, must obey all of Godâs orders and commands. Without Godâs permission, it is difficult for Satan to touch even a drop of water or grain of sand upon the land; without Godâs permission, Satan is not even free to move the ants about upon the landâlet alone mankind, who was created by Godâ (âGod Himself, the Unique Iâ). From Godâs words, she understood: Manâs pain is from Satan. It is Satan that brought pain for man. However, everyoneâs life including Satan and evil spirits is in Godâs hands. Hence even though they are malicious, cruel and evil, Satan and devils canât surpass Godâs authority and power. They are just a doll in Godâs hands so they donât dare to snatch her sonâs life without Godâs permission. It is because God is the Master of manâs fate.
Godâs words aroused her hope and made her confidently place her son in the hands of God. Her sonâs life and death are under Godâs control. After two months, it was marvelous that her sonâs disease got better and his mental state gradually improved. At the beginning of April of 2017, Chao Ling took her son to the Peopleâs Hospital in the city for an examination. The report of examination showed his blood indicators became normal. The leukemia was cured marvelously. At the moment, she was moved to tears and truly experienced what God says: âThe source of life comes from God, for all creation, whatever the difference in form or structure. Whatever kind of living being you are, you cannot move counter to the path of life that God has set. In any case, all I wish is for man to understand that without the care, keeping, and provision of God, man cannot receive all that he was meant to receive, no matter how great the effort or struggle. Without the supply of life from God, man loses the sense of value in living and loses the sense of purpose in lifeâ (âGod Is the Source of Manâs Lifeâ). Of cause, the sonâs life and death are controlled by God. Even whether his condition can improve is not controlled by those authoritative hospitals or experts, but is in Godâs hands and dominated by Him. Her son who had been sentenced to death by science was marvelously healed by God. Therefore, science canât save her son and God is his sole salvation.
Through this experience, Chao Ling not only saw Godâs extraordinary authority and power but experienced the warmth of Godâs love. She looked back on the scene in the past: When she believed God is the One who dominates manâs fate and determined to follow Him, God stretched out the hand of salvation and healed her son of his fatal disease. It made her truly experience that God is just the One who dominates everything and supplies manâs live.
Now, Chao Ling has followed God for more than four months while her son has grown up day by day under Godâs care and protection. Every time when she sings hymns and reads Godâs words, her son also babbles following her. Seeing all of that, she truly has experienced that it is a happier thing than anything else that one is accompanied by Godâs love on his path of life. She dedicates a deep gratitude and praise to God. All the glory be to Almighty God!
I Have a Brand New Knowledge of the Final Judgment â A Christianâs Diary
April 12 Â Sunny
Today, in the gathering, our pastor read several verses about the judgment of the last days, âAnd as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgmentâ (Hebrews 9:27).
âAnd I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fireâ (Revelation 20:11-15). After reading these verses, our pastor said, âIn the last days, when the Lord returns, Heâll erect a big table in the heavens to carry out judgment. The Lord will sit on the great white throne with several millions of angels around Him, and open the book of life and the book of the dead. Then, people will be brought before the throne one by one to receive His righteous judgment. There stands something like a screen, which will present our lifetime of actions and behavior. Then, God will determine our destination and ending according to our behavior: Those who do evil and those whose names arenât recorded in the book of life, will be thrown into the hell to suffer the punishment, while those who do good and obey the Lordâs way will have their names recorded in the book of life and enter the kingdom of heaven, receiving the eternal life. This is the work of judgment carried out by the Lord in the last days.â
Listening to the pastorâs sermon, I imagined many majestic and spectacular scenes: The dead are brought before the throne one by one to receive Godâs judgment, as if criminals are judged by the judge. Some are on their knees begging for mercy; some are weeping and gnashing their teeth. ⊠I realized that the judgment was to punish the evil, reward the good, and determine our ending according to our behavior. âSo as long as I pursue actively and act in accordance with the Lordâs words, Iâll certainly be raptured into the kingdom of heaven and gain the eternal life when the Lord returns.â At the thought of this, I felt cheerful inside.
April 13 Â Cloudy
Today, I was very happy because my cousin came to visit me. Since his whole family emigrated, we hadnât seen each other for two years, so we talked a lot. During our chat, I found that he had much more growth in life than before and that his words had lots of new light which I did not know. Then I shared with him the pastorâs sermon about the judgment of the last days. After hearing my words, he read the prophecies in Revelation, âAnd I saw another angel fly in the middle of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of watersâ (Revelation 14:6-7). Then he communicated, âThese verses tell us clearly, âhaving the everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth.â From this, we can see that when the prophecy âfor the hour of his judgment is comeâ is fulfilled, we still live on the earth, not in heaven; since Godâs judgment work of the last days is to judge us humans, of course it is carried out on the earth, not in heaven. As to the judgment of the great white throne recorded in the Revelation, it is just a vision seen by John on the island of Patmos, and canât be understood literally because the vision isnât the fact of Godâs work.â After listening to his fellowship, I felt confused: So what really is the judgment of the last days? Although he and the pastor both fellowshiped based on the scriptures, what they said are completely different. Then, whose words are in line with the Lordâs will? For a moment, I couldnât figure out who is right. So I asked my cousin to fellowship with me more and he agreed to continue the fellowship tomorrow.
April 14 Â Cloudy to Sunny
Before eight oâclock this morning, my cousin came to my house with his wife. Upon seeing them, I impatiently asked my cousin about what the judgment of the last days was. Looking at me with a smile, he said that he once had the same confusion as me. It was not until he read the words of a book that his confusion was resolved. Then he took out the book and read two passages of words to me, âPerhaps there are those who believe in such supernatural imaginings as that, when the last days have arrived, God will erect a big table in the heavens, upon which a white tablecloth will be spread, and then, sitting upon a great throne with all men kneeling on the ground, He will reveal the sins of each man and thereby determine whether they are to ascend to heaven or be sent down to the lake of fire and brimstone. No matter what the imaginings of man, the substance of Godâs work cannot be altered. The imaginings of man are nothing but the constructs of manâs thoughts and come from the brain of man, summed up and pieced together from what man has seen and heard. Therefore I say, however brilliant the images conceived, they are still no more than a drawing and are not able to substitute for the plan of Godâs work. After all, man has been corrupted by Satan, so how can he then fathom the thoughts of God? Man conceives the work of judgment by God to be particularly fantastic. He believes that since it is God Himself doing the work of judgment, then it must be of the most tremendous scale and incomprehensible to mortals, and it must resound through the heavens and shake the earth; otherwise how could it be the work of judgment by God? He believes that, as this is the work of judgment, then God must be particularly imposing and majestic as He works, and those being judged must be howling with tears and on their knees begging for mercy. Such a scene must be a grand spectacular and be deeply rousingâŠ. Everyone imagines Godâs work of judgment to be preternaturally wonderfulâ (âChrist Does the Work of Judgment With the Truthâ). âBecause the one who is judged is man, man who is of the flesh and has been corrupted, and it is not the spirit of Satan that is judged directly, the work of judgment is not carried out in the spiritual world, but among manâ (âCorrupt Mankind Is More in Need of the Salvation of God Become Fleshâ).
After reading the words, he said, âThese words thoroughly reveal our conceptions and imaginations about the great white throne judgment and clearly tell us that the judgment is carried out on the earth. Godâs thoughts soar higher than the heavens, so the prophecies in the Bible cannot be fathomed by us humans. Only when these prophecies are fulfilled can we truly understand them. Whatâs more, we all know that without holiness no one shall see the Lord because the Lord is holy. Since we still have many corrupt dispositions, and wrong intentions and viewpoints, weâre unfit to see God. If we are raised into heaven and directly come into contact with the spiritual body of God, we corrupt humans will be struck down. Then how could the work of judgment be carried out? Later, I saw some verses and became more certain that Godâs work of judgment is carried out on the earth. The Scripture says, âBecause he has appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he has ordainedâ (Acts 17:31). âFor the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son. ⊠And has given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of manâ (John 5:22, 27). These verses mention âthe Son of manâ or âthe Son.â We all know that the Son of man refers to the incarnate flesh of God, a normal and ordinary person. For example, the incarnate Lord Jesus who once worked amongst man was called the Son of man. So from these verses, we can know that the judgment work of God is performed on the earth, not in heaven. So âGodâs establishing a great white throne to judge manâ is completely our conception and imagination and cannot possibly be tenable.â
After listening to his fellowship, I nodded in agreement and said, âYouâre right. The Bible clearly says, âFor the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son.â The Son refers to the incarnate God, not the spirit of God. Ah, in the past, I often read these verses, but why didnât I realize this point? Now through your fellowship, I realize that my understanding of Godâs judgment of the last days is wrong. Then, could you fellowship about how God does the work of judgment?â
He nodded and continued, âDo you remember the opening of books to judge the dead and the opening of the book of life prophesied in the Book of Revelation? Actually, the opening of books to judge the dead is Godâs judgment of all unbelievers and all those who deny and resist Him. This judgment is their condemnation, their punishment, their destruction. And opening the book of life refers to the judgment that begins at the house of God, that is, Christ of the last days, expressing the truth to judge and cleanse all those brought before His throne. These chosen people of God who accept Godâs judgment work and are brought before Him are all objects of Godâs judgment, cleansing, and salvation. The judgment that begins at the house of God is to perfect this group of people before the disaster. Only this group of people are the wise virgins, people whose names are recorded in the book of life, the 144,000 overcomers prophesied by the Book of Revelation, the people who will ultimately enter the kingdom of heaven to inherit eternal life. This fulfills what was prophesied in Revelation: âAnd I looked, and, see, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Fatherâs name written in their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These were redeemed from among men, being the first fruits to God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of Godâ (Revelation 14:1-5). Godâs judgment work in the last days completely fulfills the vision of the great white throne judgment prophesied in the Book of Revelation. The great white throne symbolizes Godâs holiness as well as His authority. Then how can we get to know Godâs authority? As we all know, God created the heavens and earth and all things with His word. He uses His word to guide, cleanse, and save mankind, to accomplish everything. Godâs word has authority and power. What God says shall come to pass, what He orders shall stand. God is as good as His word, and His word shall be accomplished, and that which is accomplished lasts forever. The work of God in the last days is to express the truth to carry out judgment.â
After his fellowship, my sister-in-law smiled and said, âThe Christ of the last days has expressed millions of words to guide and supply us, and to judge and cleanse our sins. Through reading Godâs words, we know not only our shortcomings, what we lack, and our rebelliousness, but also Godâs holy, righteous and good essence. In Godâs words, we confirm that God is the truth, the way, and the life. Brother, I copied a passage of words from a website. Let me read them to you, âIn undertaking His work of judgment, God does not simply make clear the nature of man with just a few words; He exposes, deals with, and prunes it over the long term. These methods of exposure, dealing, and pruning cannot be substituted with ordinary words, but with the truth that man does not possess at all. Only methods of this kind are deemed judgment; only through judgment of this kind can man be subdued and thoroughly convinced into submission to God, and moreover gain true knowledge of God. What the work of judgment brings about is manâs understanding of the true face of God and the truth about his own rebelliousness. This work is the work of judgment done by Godââ (âChrist Does the Work of Judgment With the Truthâ).
After reading the words, she said, âBrother, in the past, we all thought that the Lordâs judgment of the last days was to condemn and punish people; actually, it is not the condemnation, nor the punishment, but the purification and salvation of us humans. Although in our belief in the Lord, we have our sins forgiven and have the qualification to come before God to pray to Him, communicate with Him, and enjoy His abundant grace, the sinful nature and the satanic disposition still remain within us; we canât help but rebel and resist God and frequently live in the state of committing sins and confessing sins, unable to get rid of the bonds and control of sinful nature. Since our nature is full of arrogance, conceit, selfishness, despicableness, crookedness, and cunningness, we often reveal corrupt disposition. For example, we often make deals with God and our belief in God is not to obey or revere Him, but to gain blessings; in order to protect our interests, we often tell lies and deceive others; when we encounter unfavorable environments, we often misunderstand Him and even complain about Him. These satanic dispositions are deeply rooted in us and without Godâs work of judgment, we canât resolve them or become people who obey and are compatible with Him. Therefore, we need God to do a stage of purification and salvation work to allow us to cast off our sinful nature. Through undergoing Godâs judgment, weâll gradually see the substance of our nature and the true state of our corruption, having some real knowledge of ourselves and God. In the course of experiencing Godâs work, as we gain entry into the reality through acting according to the truth, our satanic dispositions will all change to varying degrees so that weâll increasingly have conscience and sense and live out a human likeness. This is the âjudgment before the great white throneâ prophesied in Revelation. It is just as the Scriptures say, âBut when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the worldâ (1 Corinthians 11:32). âBehold, happy is the man whom God corrects: therefore despise not you the chastening of the Almighty: For he makes sore, and binds up: he wounds, and his hands make wholeâ (Job 5:17-18). From these verses, we know that God first uses stern words to expose the truth of our corruption, allowing us to understand our own substance of nature; and then He points out the way of practice to cleanse and transform our corrupt disposition. This is Godâs judgment work of the last days. Godâs judgment work resolves our nature of sinning and resisting Him from the root up, and concludes our millennia-long life of sinning and confessing. So we can completely free ourselves from Satanâs dark influence, cast off corrupt disposition, receive Godâs salvation, and finally enter into His kingdom.â
After hearing this, I said to them, âYour fellowship reminds me of the Lordâs words, âAnd if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last dayâ (John 12:47-48). Now I understand that the Lord Jesus merely did the work of redemption and spread the way of repentance; when He comes back in the last days, He will do the work of judgment; that is, He will issue truth to judge our corrupt disposition, allowing us to know the true face of our own corruption, so that the satanic poisons within us will gradually be cleansed. Turns out that the work of judgment is not what I imagined: People would be brought before the throne one by one to receive Godâs judgment, with some on their knees begging for mercy and some weeping and gnashing their teeth; in the end, those who do good deeds would enter the kingdom and gain the rewards while those who do evil would be thrown into the hell to suffer the punishment. Iâm so absurd that I take my conceptions and imaginations as the facts of the work of judgment.â
My cousin nodded and said, âRight. We should not define the work of God easily. We should have a seeking and obedient heart. Only in this way can we obtain Godâs guidance and have a knowledge of His work; otherwise even though there are clear prophecies in the Bible, we still wonât accept the reality that God made and finally weâll miss the chance to welcome the Lordâs coming.â
I said, âYou are right. I shouldnât define Godâs work according to my conceptions and imaginations anymore. Thank God! I understand a lot from your fellowship. By the way, you two really have had a great growth and your understanding is extraordinary. Iâve visited many churches, but no one could explain the work of judgment clearly. Now, all over the world, only Eastern Lightning witnesses that the Lord has come back and done the work of judgment. Youâve mentioned the Christ of the last days, so could it be that you have accepted Eastern Lightning? Tell me, whatâs going on?â My cousin replied, âActually, Xiaoyue (my sister-in-law) and I have accepted Godâs work of the last days abroad. It was after reading Godâs words that we had such understanding. Brother, we have come back this time specifically to preach Godâs gospel of the kingdom to you. We hope you can accept the gospel and not miss the Lordâs return.â
After hearing their words, I was both shocked and delighted, saying, âAfter hearing your fellowship, I remember the Lord Jesus said, âI have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to comeâ (John 16:12-13). I also remember the little scroll sealed with seven seals prophesied in Revelation 5. Perhaps the scroll is the truth expressed by the returned Lord Jesus. If it is truly the case, I must read these words carefully and thoroughly examine Godâs work in the last days.â Hearing this, both of them felt happy for me.
June 18 Â Sunny
Now I have accepted Godâs work of the last days for two months. After that fellowship two months ago, my wrong viewpoint was corrected and I no longer defined Godâs judgment work based on my conceptions and imaginations but had a completely new knowledge of His judgment work. Every time I think about how my cousin and sister-in-law came back specially to tell me the good news, I feel deeply touched. And I know it was God that used them to preach the gospel of kingdom to me so that I could have the opportunity to accept His new work, which was Godâs grace and blessings. I thank God from the bottom of my heart. Amen!
New Understanding of the Parable of the Lost Sheep
By Xiaoqing
âHow think you? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, does he not leave the ninety and nine, and goes into the mountains, and seeks that which is gone astray?
And if so be that he find it, truly I say to you, he rejoices more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perishâ (Matthew 18:12-14). The brothers and sisters were reading this passage of scripture in chorus.
Then a knocking sound on the door interrupted their reading. Liu Qing opened the door and saw it was Sister Wen Fang who came to visit her from another place. She welcomed her into the house, and then they continued to study the Bible together.
Liu Qing held the Bible in her hands, saying, âBrothers and sisters, I believe that we are all very familiar with the parable of the lost sheep, through which the Lord Jesus conveyed Godâs love for us vividly and we can feel His true heart of saving man. When we encounter frustrations and lose our faith in God, we always use this parable to encourage ourselves: Regardless of whatever God does, He loves us, and we should be firm and unwavering in following the Lord Jesus.â
âAmen!â everybody said in unison.
Liu Qing then said, âWhoever has any enlightenment and illumination about these verses can have a fellowship.â Seeing none speak, Liu Qing turned around to look at Wen Fang and asked, âSister Wen, do you have any understanding about these verses?â
Wen Fang sincerely said, âI agree with what you communed just now. This metaphor indeed has been inspiring each of us believers in the Lord all along. The Lord compared us to the sheep that He wanted to find, and we often feel lucky and joyful for this. However, besides the love of God for man, what other profound meanings can we understand from this metaphor?â
âOther profound meanings?â asked Liu Qing confusedly. âWen Fang, do you have any new understanding? Please communicate it with us!â
âYeah,â other brothers and sisters said simultaneously. âSister Wen, please share your understanding with us.â
Wen Fang nodded and said, âSeveral days ago, a sister gave me a book, in which I saw the fellowship about this verse of scripture, which was something I had never appreciated before. After reading these words, I benefited a lot and had a new knowledge of Godâs will. It just so happens that I have brought that book with me today. Letâs have a look at what it says.â
Everybody agreed to it happily.
Wen Fang read carefully, âThe way this metaphor is expressed utilizes a figure of speech in human language; itâs something within the scope of human knowledge. If God had said something similar in the Age of Law, people would have felt that it wasnât really consistent with who God was, but when the Son of man delivered this passage in the Age of Grace, it felt comforting, warm, and intimate to people. When God became flesh, when He appeared in the form of a man, He used a very appropriate metaphor to express the voice of His heart in humanity. This voice represented Godâs own voice and the work He wanted to do in that age. It also represented an attitude that God had toward people in the Age of Grace. Looking from the perspective of Godâs attitude toward people, He compared each person to a sheep. If a sheep is lost, He will do whatever it takes to find it. This represents a principle of Godâs work among mankind this time in the flesh. God used this parable to describe His resolve and attitude in that work. This was the advantage of God becoming flesh: He could take advantage of mankindâs knowledge and use human language to speak to people, to express His will. He explained or âtranslatedâ to man His profound, divine language that people struggled to understand in human language, in a human way. This helped people understand His will and know what He wanted to do. He could also have conversations with people from the human perspective, using human language, and communicate with people in a way they understood. He could even speak and work using human language and knowledge so that people could feel Godâs kindness and closeness, so that they could see His heartâ (Godâs Work, Godâs Disposition, and God Himself III).
After finishing reading, Wen Fang fellowshiped with a pleased expression on her face, âWhen I read this passage, I felt very excited. I realized that through this parable we not only could know the unselfishness of Godâs love and salvation for us but also could see the advantage of God working in the flesh. Only when God incarnate comes to the earth as the Son of man, and draws analogies that we often see, feel and easily comprehend in our life, can we better understand Godâs love and requirements for us mankind as well as what He has and is and His disposition, and thus no longer believe in the vague God. Furthermore, this brings us closer to God and allows us to truly feel the kindness and closeness of God. All these effects are what the work of the Spirit cannot achieve. Take the parable of the lost sheep as an example; through it, God expressed His will of saving mankind, so that we can comprehend Godâs heart of loving mankind and see His resolve and attitude in saving mankind as well as His disposition of love and compassion. In order to seek the lost sheep, God will do whatever it takes, and He will never cease His work until it is completed. If God had not become flesh to tell us these personally, we would have never understood this point.â
Liu Qing said joyfully, âYour fellowship today is really full of light, which indeed makes us better understand the necessity of the work of God incarnate. God works and speaks among people in person, using the language we can comprehend to lead us to understand His intentions. Godâs incarnation is really of the utmost importance for us.â
Sister Chen gladly said, âThank the Lord! Iâve really gained a lot in the meeting today. Before, when I read this passage of scripture, I never viewed it from the perspective of the significance of God working in the flesh.â
âYeah,â said Brother Wang. âWe lack too much in the aspect of knowing God. We only know how to enjoy Godâs grace and blessings, but have never pondered what Godâs will is behind every word He speaks and everything He does, much less do we know why God became flesh. In the past, I only knew that Godâs incarnation was to redeem mankind on the cross, but never thought that it was also for the sake of speaking to us in human language and helping us understand His intentions better. God is really considerate toward us!â
âI agree with you, Brother Wang,â said Sister Zheng. âIn the past, we only knew that God is the God who loves man, but our understanding of the real expressions of Godâs loving man was too one-sided. Sister Wenâs communing it in this manner today really helps us have a deeper understanding of Godâs love. Only God can reveal such kind of love. Thank God! The fellowship today is really enlightening.â
Liu Qing read the scripture carefully and then looked up at Wen Fang, asking, âThe Lord Jesus said, âEven so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perishâ (Matthew 18:14). So what then is the Lordâs will in speaking these words?â
Wen Fang opened the book, replying, âThis is also a crucial question concerning knowing God and there is a clear fellowship about this verse in the book as well.â
âLet me read it,â Liu Qing said eagerly.
Wen Fang passed the book to Liu Qing happily, and then she read, âLetâs take another look at the last sentence in this passage: âEven so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.â Was this the Lord Jesusâ own words, or the words of His Father in heaven? On the surface, it looks like itâs the Lord Jesus who is speaking, but His will represents the will of God Himself, which is why He said: âEven so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.â People at that time only acknowledged the Father in heaven as God, and this person that they saw in front of their eyes was merely sent by Him, and He could not represent the Father in heaven. Thatâs why the Lord Jesus had to say that as well, so that they could really feel Godâs will for mankind, and feel the authenticity and the accuracy of what He said. Even though this was a simple thing to say, it was very caring and it revealed the Lord Jesusâ humility and hiddenness. No matter whether God became flesh or He worked in the spiritual realm, He knew the human heart best, and best understood what people needed, knew what people worried about, and what confused them, so He added this one line. This line highlighted a problem hidden in mankind: People were skeptical of what the Son of man said, which is to say, when the Lord Jesus was speaking He had to add: âEven so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.â Only on this premise could His words bear fruit, to make people believe their accuracy and improve their credibility. This shows that when God became a regular Son of man, God and mankind had a very awkward relationship, and that the Son of manâs situation was very embarrassing. It also shows how insignificant the Lord Jesusâ status among humans was at that time. When He said this, it was actually to tell people: You can rest assuredâthis doesnât represent whatâs in My own heart, but it is the will of the God who is in your hearts. For mankind, wasnât this an ironic thing? Even though God working in the flesh had many advantages that He did not have in His person, He had to withstand their doubts and rejection as well as their numbness and dullness. It could be said that the process of the work of the Son of man was the process of experiencing mankindâs rejection, and the process of experiencing mankind competing against Him. More than that, it was the process of working to continuously win mankindâs trust and conquer mankind through what He has and is, through His own essence. It was not so much that God incarnate was waging an on-the-ground war against Satan; it was more that God became an ordinary man and began a struggle with those who follow Him, and in this struggle the Son of man completed His work with His humility, with what He has and is, with His love and wisdom. He obtained the people He wanted, won the identity and status He deserved, and returned to His throneâ (Godâs Work, Godâs Disposition, and God Himself III).
After reading this passage, Wen Fang fellowshiped, âThese words directly pointed out our true situation, and I was greatly touched. We only believe in God in heaven, the vague God in our imagination, but donât at all have real knowledge or faith toward God in the flesh. Weâre just like Philip, who followed the Lord Jesus but didnât completely acknowledge that He was God Himself; he once said to the Lord Jesus, âLord, show us the Father, and it suffices usâ (John 14:8). God knew that we didnât know Christ and didnât acknowledge that Christ was God Himself, so He added: âEven so it is not the will of your Father which is in heavenâ after saying the metaphor. This was to make people at that time believe that these words were from the Father in heaven, so that they could accept what the Lord Jesus said more easily. God is always considerate of our weakness no matter how foolish and ignorant we are. He considers us in all aspects and speaks to us in the way we can accept, in order that we can believe in and follow Him. It can be seen that God is too humble and hidden and that His desire to save man is so sincere.â
Liu Qing continued, âYour communication reminds me of what is recorded in the Bible: When the Lord Jesus performed His work, He spoke so many words and did so many signs and wonders. The Jewish people at that time had seen the authority and power in the words and work of the Lord Jesus, but they didnât acknowledge or accept Him as God Himself; rather, they used âthe son of a carpenterâ and âa Nazareneâ to define His identity. The Lord Jesus is the supreme God Himself. He walked among people, working and speaking to guide them, yet had to withstand their misunderstandings, ridicule and slander. However, the Lord Jesus endured all these silently, and in the end, He accomplished the work of crucifixion to redeem all mankind. After listening to the passage of words we read just then and your fellowship, I come to understand that the incarnate Son of man and the Father in heaven are one, so we canât doubt the identity and status of God incarnate for His humility.â
Brother Wang said significantly, âIt turns out that while God was working in the flesh, He also withstood mankindâs suspicions and guards against Him. However, God did not condemn man because of this, but still worked to save man. Who but God can be so tolerant and merciful toward human beings who are full of disobedience to Him?â
Sister Zheng said, âI gain a deeper knowledge of God through the fellowship today, and meanwhile I feel ashamed of my little faith.â
Liu Qing echoed, âItâs true. Especially when I saw the words âEven though God working in the flesh had many advantages that He did not have in His person, He had to withstand their doubts and rejection as well as their numbness and dullness. It could be said that the process of the work of the Son of man was the process of experiencing mankindâs rejection, and the process of experiencing mankind competing against Him. More than that, it was the process of working to continuously win mankindâs trust and conquer mankind through what He has and is, through His own essence,â I felt Godâs love for us is so great. At the same time as saving us humans, He also bears our rejection. Nonetheless, God still forgives and pardons our transgressions with His loving and compassionate disposition, waiting for us to turn back. We such corrupt mankind are really unworthy of God expending such efforts and price to do the work and save us. Only by pursuing the truth and pursuing to know God can we clear up our misunderstandings about and guarding against God.â
Wen Fang said agreeably, âWhat you said is right. If we know God, then we can resolve the problem of resisting against God. The earliest Pharisees didnât know God and thus condemned the Lord Jesus merely by several verses of scripture. If we want to avoid walking the old way of the Pharisees, we must put effort into knowing God and have a cautious and prudent heart in everything; especially in the matter of how to treat God, we must not act based upon our conceptions and imaginations.â
Liu Qing nodded. She looked at the book in her hands and could hardly tear herself away from it. Suddenly she seemed to have thought of something and said to Wen Fang, âCould you leave this book to me? I feel it tells us how to know God, which is just what we lack. If we have knowledge of God, we will not oppose Him relying on our conceptions and imaginations.â
