xiao zhan acceptance speech for best Actor award in the main competition section 2026 Asian Art Film Festival 🏆

i’m xiao zhan. standing here today, holding this honor in my hands, i feel truly honored. thank you to the asian art film festival, and to every judge and teacher for recognizing gezhi town. mo dexian is a small man in troubled times. in years of broken mountains and rivers, he worked hard to protect his family and everyone around him. i believe mo dexian carries the simple warmth and resilience that belongs to each of us chinese people.

thank you to our screenwriter, teacher lan xiaolong, for creating such a wonderful story. i would also like to thank director kong sheng for their patient guidance. your precise direction allowed me to better understand the core of this character.

thank you as well to all the actors and every member of the production team behind the scenes. it was a collective effort that brought more color to this film.

finally, i want to thank the perseverance embodied by mo dexian. may all efforts be rewarded. this heavy honor is both recognition and cherished encouragement for my future path. i will continue to work hard, stay true to my original intention, and move forward. thank you.

ohhhh. we are still talking about WYB’s performance? okay. sure. i would love that. the tag for him is pretty funny! it’s because of the scratch his shoe made on the floor when he did that move. i’m glad people enjoyed his performance, from the number of online views, the high search volume for his name out of all the performers and you even have dance covers already. i believe that’s the goal when it comes to these galas, that people get to enjoy it while counting down to the new year. and WYB’s stage achieved that.

and i wanna talk more about the wechat search index. because he is #1 and aaron kwok is #2. it’s the yibo effect. i’ve always admired his confidence and graciousness to share a stage with somebody. he is not afraid. he knows he will still shine and he enjoys honest collaborations. and here they are, being talked about in a positive light.

the second tag, it’s really more of “hand washing” like someone insisting on doing things the traditional way. if you all watched some parts of the show, even just the few before WYB, there’s robots, special effects and all that. it’s all pretty impressive and beautiful — but these 2 are old school type of performers. and i think that’s why their stage got so much attention and hits different.

his sincerity and genuine love for performing really reached the audience. it’s something you can’t fake and that’s one thing WYB always had — authenticity.
