my favorite parts from the ofmd pilot script
Just two very dangerous, vicious (flirty) pirates wanted for their crimes! The biggest criminal tho? HBOmax for not giving us a s2 announcement yet
Please join me in welcoming for his regional debut—the Brigand of Barbados, the Cream of the Caribbean, the Gentleman Pirate!

go off, king… david jenkins casually killing me with every new interview | OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH
…Could be arranged.🖤🏴☠️
It makes me uncomfortable that a portion of fandom wants Stede to suddenly grow a beard, wear only simple clothes and become a super badass pirate. Like... If Ed being 'just' Ed is something you celebrate, then why does Stede have to change so much? I get the man is only starting to figure himself out and some change will come with that; change is a natural part of life and he's already made progress since OFMD began (pulling a knife on Doug), but it kinda seems like fandom just wants him to be more traditionally masculine because they don't find him appealing enough as is.
Like, yes, he left Mary his money, Ed could've gotten rid of his fancy wardrobe (we don't know yet), but he could always get (even steal) new clothes.
I didn't think much of the beard thing until it started to be pretty much all I saw in fanart, and idk how many times I've seen people say they want Stede to be a bamf in S2.
Is no one happy with Stede being a clumsy dude who can fumble his way through victory now and then? 😔 Do we need him to be a master at swordplay or be the smoothest man on the planet?
Taika Waititi (as Edward ‘’Blackbeard’’ Teach) literally being the most beautiful man alive
I wanna talk about the Fandom idea of Izzy Hands as a “manipulator,” and common ideas around Ed “performing” Blackbeard. I’ve just been kicking around a lot of thoughts about the topic after seeing a lot of meta that feels not-quite-right to me.
First; I admire the writing in Our Flag Means Death SO MUCH. I think that it stands up really well to endless different analyses and has a lot of nuance! So I’m not trying to say like, “all XYZ meta is wrong.” But I’m REALLY starting to balk at the popular fandom notion that Izzy is a devious manipulator and that Ed is just “performing” depending on who he’s with in order to have love and acceptance— in a way that I feel needlessly victimizes Ed and discounts his agency and power as a character. First of all, Izzy isn’t manipulative; he’s a blunt fucking instrument.

AHHHHHH! A spectacular fic and one of the first I read (and re-read, and re-read, and re-read). This art is such a gift (I loved that part of the story!) 😭😍
Thank you!!!🥺 This fic is still one of my favourites to this day, perfection!
And another I've unearthed from the sketchbook.

And a Belle Epoque fem!Crowley to round up the batch.
Aziraphale seems distraught... Luckily Crowley is there!
