You see, I heard when you yelled for me to behave from the other room. I might’ve chosen to ignore such a warning…and I’m choosing to ignore it again now.

It'm not even mad, though - your recklessness is my entertainment for the evening. Please, keep going. This place had needed a pick-me-up in the drama department for too long...and I need a good laugh.

Colette: You forget I was away for a year, and now I'm being reminded why I never truly wanted to return in the first place. These people have no class, discussing all of this in public. I need to finish up degree ASAP.
Vidia: Jafar and I are headed to New York for NYE. He's never been - so what better time than the most hectic night of the year, hm? I'm an evil genius, I know.
Vidia: I've learned it's best to just mind my own business in times like these. Sure, I've had my fair share of public drama - but it's better this way, trust me. Keep your head down and get that degree.
Colette: Oh, the usual. That saying that nothing good happens after 2 am? It clearly rings more true than I thought. It's an after school special on the blogs tonight.
Vidia: I suppose it's alright. I have to be at the airport in 4 hours but....I guess I can sleep on the plane.
Vidia: You sound so surprised. Surely you've learned by now that the blogs, when active, are /always/ an after school special.
The one and only. I must admit I’m surprised to see you’re around. I thought you’d be jet-setting around the world in all that glam and glory. I’ve got a cup of tea to settle in for the evening while I attempt to get back into the daily grind of schoolwork, so it’s going decently. How about you, lovely? I’m sure you’ve been up to much more than I have.
Oh, you know me. If I could judge traveling the world with school, work, and training, I'd be doing it. But, not to worry - I'll be back in a plane soon enough. I can't get into much detail, because it's a surprise...but it's coming soon. I just need to get the time off work.

A/N: Soooo, if you're not familiar with the plot that's going on with the Agrabah crew right now, I'm pretty sure you never will be. But, I guess I should point out that this might not make the most sense if you're not. Previous selfies and paras can be found HERE etc etc yaay self promotion. ANYWAY, you'll notice that this takes place on Al's birthday, which actually isn't until the 16th...but I'm posting it now anyway so. Read it and weep.
This had been the eighth time Aladdin had barged in with a blunt in his hand. Not that Vidia was purposely keeping track or anything, but it was hard not to update the mental tab every time the sound of his goddamn annoying voice filled the room.
It wasn’t like she didn’t know what day it was, and it didn’t take much to figure out that Mister Aladdin Darzi wasn’t used to being pushed onto the back burner without so much as a shrug when this specific day rolled around. But something that Vidia couldn’t seem to grasp was how….clueless the boy was. Didn’t he know that celebration would have to wait? That he had managed to put his entire life on the line and at this point in time, there was absolutely no room for error?
From the look on Jafar’s face, he wasn’t used to this either - never had anyone put him into a situation where he had to figure out something so dire by himself. There was always someone else to fall back on, always someone who could dig him out of any hole he accidentally dug for himself and for the other boy, if need be. But now, this was all on Jafar - not even Aladdin would be able save himself.
And Vidia knew how important it was that he succeeded. She knew that no matter how much Jafar may have wanted to take a break and go smoke that birthday blunt with his brother - he couldn’t. Not when the trial was only a few days away.
But the long haired boy failed to realize that.
See, Aladdin had a one track mind - Vidia could tell from the day she met him that he was incapable of thinking about more than one thing at a time. He always had some sort of vice in his hand, whether it be a blunt or a bottle or even a damn laced cigarette….you couldn’t catch Aladdin Darzi completely sober if your life depended on it.
And that was what worried her the most. How easy would it be for him to throw this trial completely? And what would Jafar have to show for all this hard work if he did?
Nothing. He’d have nothing to show for it.
And that was probably why she shot up from her seat next to the older boy, hearing this frustrated sigh leave his lips one too many times as Aladdin allowed his true colors to show once again. She could tell that Jafar’s patience was wearing thin, that if he could muster up enough energy to turn around and tell Aladdin to get his priorities in check, he probably would have. But, he couldn’t do that either.
So, Vidia would do it for him.
Perhaps it wasn’t her place to do so. No, of course it wasn’t her place to do so, but it turned out that Al was eating at her patience as well, and it had gotten to the point where someone needed to say something before the whole room exploded as a result.
She crossed the room without a word, grabbing the boy’s arm and pulling him back into the hole he so annoyingly crawled out of. He went to protest, even tried to pull himself away from her, but Vidia only gripped her hand tighter. She could have left a bruise for all she cared, no longer willing to show any mercy for a person so vile, so irritating, so...ungrateful. Once she got him through the door and closed it behind her, she let go of his arm, only to shoot the nastiest glare in his direction before she spoke.
“He’s busy,” she spat.
And that should have been enough.
But, Al laughed at her - looked her dead in the face and laughed. Maybe it was because he was drunk, the boy deciding that if no one else was going to celebrate his birthday with him, he’d do it himself. But it pissed the girl off all the same.
“I’m really glad you’re finding humor in this, Aladdin,” she spat, eyes narrowed as her hands sat firmly on her hips. “Especially when the only thing he wants to do right now, I’m sure, is celebrate your birthday...and he’s stuck trying to find as many ways as he can to make sure you don’t end up in prison.”
He went to say something, but the girl held her hand up to stop him. She wasn’t done yet.
“And you’re worried about a blunt? Something, might I add, that could get you into more trouble, should you get caught with it? Do you ever actually consider the consequences of your actions, or did you learn absolutely nothing from your sleepover at the police station?”
Aladdin was mad too; she could sense it from a mile away. The way his breathing staggered and his cheeks puffed out put the meaning of the word hothead into full perspective. But, he bounced back quick - she knew he would - and he was smirking as if her words rolled straight down his back.
"What's got you playing 'Mommy' all of a sudden, V?" He asked her, sparking the blunt right in front of her even though he knew she was bothered by the smell. He was smirking still as he puffed on it a few times, blowing the smoke directly into her face until she knew well enough to take a step back. "Jaf's a big boy, yeah? He can take care of himself."
And she was fuming. With every move, every word, it wouldn't have been a stretch to claim that she'd wish hell on the child before her. It didn't matter that he was nearly a whole year her senior, or that by some miracle of God, he'd be graduating college before she even thought about it. He was a child - worthless and undeserving of the help he was given.
"But he's not, is he?" she finally replied - an obviously rhetorical question being the only thing that came to mind. "Most nights I feel like I have to force him to go to sleep because he's too busy trying to fix your fucking mistakes. Are you proud of that? Are you glad to know that there's probably two people on the whole planet who care about where you end up and they're both suffering from your damn hero complex?"
Silence. Just like the coward he was.
"If it was up to me, Aladdin, your ungrateful ass would be rotting in a cell." She said it with a shrug of her shoulders, as if her words didn't collapse onto him like a pile of bricks. "If I were you, I'd feel lucky there was someone out there who actually gave a shit where I ended up." She took that step forward again, allowing her gaze to lock on his as she continued. "Some Advice: maybe you should, I don't know....show him you're worth the trouble? Because, right now, I don't know if you are."
"You don't know anything," he spat, and it was Vidia who laughed this time.
"I know you're a lost cause...I know Jafar probably isn't going to sleep until he proves me wrong. And hell, I know you're too selfish to do anything to make this easier on anyone. ...am I missing anything?"
Silence again.
Just like the coward he was.
"Happy Birthday, Aladdin," she finally said, using it as a dismissal as she headed for the door. "Do me a favor today, would you?"
