Gabriel had been glad that he caught the other in time, even if it had nearly caused him to topple as well given that, by instinct, he’d nearly sought to catch them with currently hidden wings as opposed to readily available hands; but now said delicate hands sought to secure them where they stood, or merely bring the stranger to recline against him should they not openly protest —— anything, really, to keep them from toppling over onto the cold ground. ( not only was an unfitting place to rest, but the fall would likely be anything but gentle with the landing. the last thing Gabriel wanted to try and stomach is the sound of someone’s head connecting directly with cobblestone. )
❛ I-I was just passing by, ❜ —— cleaners, project members? No, he couldn’t ask about those things now, not when their health seemed to be much more crucial. ( not to mention: Gabriel didn’t do so well with strangers; it would not be long ‘fore anxiety begun to seize hold. ) ❛ A-are you alright…? I thought ——I thought you were going to fall… ❜
" Yes. I believe so. " Slowly they would gently distance themself from the other, a hand raising to touch their head. Their mind and body had begun the healing process, any sign of grogginess or pain now quick to vanish. Yet his mind still hurt, sluggish perhaps from nearly falling faster than they'd have like, but they never made contact with the ground. Leaving them a bit perplexed as to why their head had such a dull but still painful ringing echoing within. " Why has that accursed ringing started now ? " Mary groaned silently to themself, face contorting into one of displeasure. Perhaps that fight from earlier had effected them in some way, leaving their powers jumbled and confused. Even so, they would look upon the other with a confused curiosity.
" Why...Why are you here ? Most don't use these streets unless they've never been here or wish to visit the academy's church. If it's the latter, then it's best you come back another time, it's not...safe. " Shadows had been popping out of the woodwork for the past hour now, hence why Mary looked worse for wear.
