mikotos case is about how a regular person can be driven to the point of murder. there's a lot of emphasis on how normal and boring his life was until he one day snapped. what it seems like yamanaka was going for was how his circumstances pushed him into this one horrible moment that was so out of character for him that his mind blocked it out. but, like. by explicitly giving him DID (formed by work stress in adulthood) that manifests by an alter fronting for the first time and relieving stress by killing a ton of people its really hard to look at his case and not think "this is ableist". which is a shame because him being a system was a HUGE part of the first two trials but it doesnt seem like yamanaka wanted to write an interesting story revolving around DID. just one about japanese work culture.

this feels more relevant to me now with chapter 5 and everything about him knowing too much for his own good and his fear of fate and the prophecy coming to fruition, also something about the theory that he's a titan.......
