I have wanted to start a blog some time now, but I never had much to write about. Luckily for you, I have finally figured it out. I have developed a strong affinity towards golf in the past six or so months and have decided to use the internet as a way to track my progress as I try to getter better at this game. But my desire to create this blog goes beyond tracking personal growth. I also hope to encourage other new golfers who are struggling with the game, much like I do. Golf is hard. No secrets about that. But golf is fun, and this page is meant to be too. My plan is to post weekly about things that have been working for me and things that have not. I plan to keep accurate scores and track actual data (like % of fairways, GIRs, penalties, et. al.) and share some golf wisdom that I pick up on the way.
Let me start this thing out by sharing my story. I was gifted a set of Taylormade R7s a few years ago, but they sat in my patio closet for almost a year. I dusted them off a few times to play, but never got serious about the game. Fast forward to December 2015. My wonderful wife purchased some lessons for me from the local PGA pro, (ready for a shameless plug?) Shane Balfour at St. Stanislaus. The dude is great. I started taking the game seriously and started spending time learning the game and mechanics. In February of 2016, my best round ended with me scoring an impressive 120+ at Creekside here in Modesto. An astounding 48 over par (hence foretee over par). Since then, my game has progressed wonderfully, but I think I'll leave the story here for now.
