Buffy the Vampire Slayer | âGoneâ
Her Memories The Colour of Smoke
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER 2.03 âSchool Hardâ | 6.09 âSmashedâ
She stops when she pulls out a familiar looking silver lighter in her hand. CLOSE ON BUFFY as she FLASHBACKS to SPIKE - kissing her, moving his hands all over her body, being inside her. As she draws a deep breath and snaps out of it. She look around, shamefully, then eyes the lighter in her hand. After a moment, she tosses it into the box. - from the âGoneâ script, written by David Fury
Iâve been alive a bit longer than you. And dead a lot longer than that. Iâve seen things you couldnât imagine. And done things Iâd prefer you didnât. Donât exactly have a reputation for being a thinker. I follow my blood, which doesnât exactly rush in the direction of my brain. So I make a lot of mistakes. A lot of wrong bloody calls. A hundred plus years. And thereâs only one thing Iâve ever been sure of. You. Hey, look at me. Iâm not asking you for anything. When I say I love you, itâs not because I want you. Or because I canât have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. Iâve seen your kindness, and your strength. Iâve seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand, with perfect clarity, exactly what you are. Youâre a hell of a woman. Youâre the one, Buffy.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer â season 7.
last night was ⊠god, iâm such a jerk. i canât do this. [spike?] ⊠it was the best night of my life ⊠if you poke fun at me you bloody well better use that, âcause i couldnât bear it.
it somehow took me two decades to fully realize that the reason Spike was able to point the gun at Buffy without his chip firing is because he never actually intended on hurting her and i'm not okay thank you for asking

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (1997-2003) | 5.12
#his little smile at her at the end!! #heâs so #FOND #of buffy #like aw look at her all ready to attack me thereâs my slayer :)))) #and honestly who can blame him #btvs #spuffy #itâs the endless mirroring of percieving for me <<<PREV TAGS
see a lot of takes regarding s6 spuffy being casual sex and unfeeling on buffyâs part and I just gotta disagree; cause man did you see the position of the sex scenes? all being very intimate so much eye contact, sometimes hand holding and itâs all just very passionate. buffy very rarely distances herself in the moment sheâs always looking at spike being in her enjoying him being in her itâs just very romantic to me and I think thatâs ultimately what scared buffy most that no matter what she did she couldnât take the feelings out of the sex especially as you were she goes to him and asks him for his love itâs not the sensation of forgetting she craves if it was she could pick any random guy off the street and fuck him senseless but it had to be spike because he loved her and he cared about her and in order for her to completely let go she had to feel safe; safe to explore her desires, safe to let herself be vulnerable, safe to feel. so honestly the sex and the kisses between them all scream romantic to me and deep down it was making love.
THIS.
Buffy is a person who shows her love through action more than words. She is such an unreliable narrator that it actually creates comedic moments in the dialogue, so it's no wonder that Spike is constantly having to contradict her when she says she doesn't love him.
This is not someone who is using sex as a drug, using it only as an escape from the hell of life; this is Buffy falling in love with the darker side of herself and then, wrongly, becoming deeply ashamed of it.
god yes. it's really interesting how through the act of sex buffy is completely bare to spike (emotionally speaking). like op said, she sleeps with spike because she feels safe with him.
but i think the reason she is so vicious outside the safety and pleasure and oneness of sex with spike is because when his adoration and love for her isn't completely filling her vision, her senses, and her mind THAT is when the rest of the world start creeping in. she remembers her past experiences and past traumas. her responsibilities come knocking on her door again. fear -- about being judged, about being wrong, about loosing heaven -- creeps back in.
and she's so harsh towards spike outside of having sex with him because 1) he is just a reflection of her, and she's desperately trying to push back on her life (because she shouldn't be here. she was complete.) but also 2) spike brings out the reckless emotional part of her. she has these life lessons learned from past traumas, she has a sister to take of and the world to save, she has to keep living in this world -- with her friends and their thoughts and judgements and input. and all these this are important to her. they are a part of who she is. but being with spike, when it's just her and him, all of that disappears.
and that's dangerous to buffy. and she's scared. and also ashamed that he consumes her so much and that she likes it (in the moment).
that connection they have, while having sex, is something equally as natural to her as her love for her friends and family & her responsibilities to the world. but i think because what she has with him makes her feel more alive than everything else about her life post-death she feels like she has to violently fight back against it.
"the only time i feel anything is when we..."
those other parts of her life (her experiences, her friends, her sister, her calling) are all staples of her "old life", but this thing with spike -- while not out of nowhere -- is something new, and extremely intense. and buffy doesn't want to be alive, she doesn't want to progress past that point of finality when she died at the end of "the gift".
and yeah, again, what buffy and spike have in those moments of complete intimacy and togetherness (when they have sex) is extremely romantic. it's only when every other factor of buffy's life, and her aversion to life itself, come back does her relationship with spike veer off from romance and love and trust and safety.
Spike and Buffy holding hands in Something Blue Also bonus gif because Spike holding his hand out for Buffy to take was cute, okay?:
#whenever i get sad that we didnât get to see them being an actual couple on screen #and not just in comics form #i remember that we DID #we actually did get to see #this is just #exactly what theyâre like once they actually get together for real #just walking :) #holding hands :) #being one of those obnoxious gross couples where you canât really tell what one is like without the other #cause theyâre such a package deal :) (by @147days) yes yes yes! i also get very sad about that. but i mean you are so right â this is them being a real couple. as itâs been abundantly discussed (and proven), the will be done spell simply had spike and buffy âget marriedâ; the buffoonery, all consuming affection, and complete attraction spuffy have for each other in this episode is completely them. not magic. just another reason why âsomething blueâ is the comfort episode of all comfort episodes.
