‘Girlhood: what it means to me’ [rejected]
A short 8-page collage zine combining 2000’s nostalgic imagery with more current thoughts about being raised a girl.
Growing up is hard no matter who you are, perhaps with many different struggles and adversities, but we are all experiencing our first time being alive and finding our footing in this big old world that throws you into centuries old unspoken rules and structures. This is not to say those raised as boys may have it any better, just as a reflection on being raised a girl in the turn of the millennium. Messages were made more neutral in an attempt to be accepted for an art submission, but still too dark for a group celebrating female creativity. Perhaps a further revision will be made to correct this.
