Canadians once considered Point Roberts a haven, but now many of the residents and businesses of the Washington exclave say they fear politics are crushing the community.
Ruling comes as supreme court is set to consider whether bans on semiautomatic rifles violate US constitution

The life and death of May Pollard, 16, provides a window into the tragic effect that legislation and political rhetoric have had on trans people in America.
Before you make fun of Lindsey Grahamâs death, ask yourself if Donald Trump would mock the death of somebody he disagreed with and whether Lindsey would make excuses for that mockery.
Then⊠go right ahead and make fun of Lindsey Grahamâs death.
I know I'm going to take heat for this, but here it is anyway... I'm going to go against the grain here, but I'd like to think I'm a better person than Donald Trump. I'd like to think the people in my party are better than Donald Trump. I wish we wouldn't become what we are fighting against. I'd like us to be the example of how to behave. For us to be a guide to where we can return after Trump is gone and continue forward from there, following the examples set by the Obamas. It is just as hypocritical for us to complain about what Trump did and then go ahead and do the same. This is not how I was taught to behave, nor is it how I taught my child to behave. Literally the opposite, in that we are all responsible for our own behavior regardless of how others behave. Unless it's in self-defense. This is not self-defense, this is not how people in a society that I want to live in behave.
I don't like that we are all so quick to dive down to Donald Trump's level. I'm not celebrating that Lindsey Graham is dead. But I'm not going to mourn him either. I'm not going to pretend his actions while he was alive weren't horrible. But we need to retain our decency, if we lose that, then Donald Trump won.
Roger Rogoff, former director of the state office of independent investigations, is now the rope in a tug-of-war with the Trump administration.

No more private equity buying up single-family homes! Woohoo! She was always my choice for President. At this point, I think we need age limits, and sadly that includes her. But as it is now, I think she is the very best of the oldies.
A state panel found probable cause that billionaire Elon Musk broke state law when he gave $1 million checks to voters in the 2025 state Supreme Court election.
Israel's security cabinet approved a budget of 1.3 billion shekels ($434 million) for establishing 34 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, right-wing Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said on Tuesday, adding to âtensions over territory widely viewed as central to a potential Palestinian state.
By altering the definition of the word "harm" as used by the Endangered Species Act, the Trump administration may limit how wildlife is protected in the United States. Environmental groups are suing.
I know this to be true first-hand

Across America, over 1,000 hospitals, nursing homes, maternity wards, and providers have now closed, cut services, or are at risk of doing so in the year since Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans ripped over $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to bankroll tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations.
The wreckage spans every corner of the country. Hospitals have been forced to slash services, clinics have shuttered, and nursing homes have turned away the seniors who need care most. Maternity wards have gone dark, abandoning expectant moms in care deserts where delivering a baby has become a lifeor-death gamble. Rural communities are hemorrhaging jobs. Urban hospitals are teetering on the brink.
And the toll keeps mounting. More than 15 million Americans, including seniors, children, and Americans with disabilities, are at risk of losing the coverage they depend on. More than 25,000 health care workers have been laid off. Families are facing higher premiums, higher out-of-pocket costs, and impossible choices about whether they can afford care at all.
What began as the largest cut to health care in American history has become a nationwide health care crisis. One year later, the consequences of Republicansâ health care cuts are impossible to ignore as the fallout spreads, decimating the American health care system and local economies, forcing working families to pay the price.
