I’m so fucking tired of people deducing Mariah Carey her sexuality or shade. Mariah Carey is one of the last living legends and she is so much more than her body/clothing or some offhand comments she made in an interview 14 years ago. Just in case ya’ll forgot some of her numerous accomplishments:
She’s the 5th best artist of ALL TIME
18 FUCKING #1 singles. That’s more #1s than you have fingers.
Her song One Sweet Day is the longest running #1 single with 16 weeks at #1 (that’s over 3 months by the way).
She singehandedly brought back the use of Melisma (riffs and runs) with her debut single, Vision of Love. Every single vocalist to come after her from Beyonce and Christina Aguilera, to Fifth Harmony, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato has been influenced be her style of singing.
She was the first female artist (and second of all time after Michael Jackson) to have a single debut at #1.
Her original Christmas song, All I Want For Christmas Is You, is the best selling Christmas song of all time.
The original version of her #1 song Fantasy introduced sampling to pop music, something that was almost exclusively used in Hip Hop music. The ODB Remix of Fantasy introduced Hip Hop music to pop music and created the thug love duet. Almost all female pop singers like Beyonce, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, Selena Gomez, Tori Kelly etc. has used this formula to their advantage.
