How to Be a Heartbreaker ➸ Marina
“That’s absurd!” The girl shook her head, slouching in her seat. “If Suzy is going to be needing money she might as well play it smart with someone who spends money on a daily basis.”
Taking a sip from her cup, the redhead nods in agreement. “I’m going to have to agree with Gabriela on this one. Getting money from a wealthy man sounds a lot better than owing someone money for the rest of your pathetic life.”
Suzy Quinton remained silent. There were far too many doubts about everything. However, she was given two months to obtain the cash before the hired men would set out to murder her father in cold flesh. She needed to make a decision now. Wasting time was definitely not an option. Although it seemed as if it was just yesterday when her father arrived home with bruises all over his body and blood oozing from his open wounds, ten days had slipped away.
“Where on earth do you expect her to find a wealthy man to swoon over her?” Jenna queried, rolling her eyes. “If you haven’t quite noticed we are girls that will never be able to walk down the same street with such man gawking over us.”
She was right. The girls were at the bottom of the chain, having to provide for their families in order to survive. They’d only meet such man in their dreams.
“Boo, buzz killer alert!” Gabriela announced before sticking her tongue out. “It’s surely not too impossible if we use our damn brains for once.”
“Lower your voice, Gabriela!” Marie hissed, avoiding the sudden attention on them. Ignoring their gazes, she forces a smile before speaking again. “But we could help her find the right fish in the sea.”
Jenna raised her brows, admiring her friend's response. “It’d be like a game, right?”
“A game in which we’d be in control,” Suzy chimed in. “Where should we begin?”
