I’ll probably get burned for this one too, but these two parallels just don’t go together for me. The problem is that Stefan makes it so obvious that he will always be there for Damon, that he’ll never give up on him, and that he’ll always choose him above anyone else which includes Elena Gilbert. And it’s not that Damon hasn’t had his moments with Stefan but the only one that really sticks out in my mind where he truly made me believe he loved his brother and felt concern for him was in 1x17 when Stefan had been kidnapped. The look on his face when he sees Stefan—my god why can’t we have more of that? Or maybe there’s just always this permanent thorn in my side for the fact that it seems to be difficult for Damon to choose his brother over himself. There’s always a catch, or a price. But more specifically about the scene on the left is that Damon chose to be there for Stefan that way only when Elena had rejected him. ‘Right now...you’re all I got.’ He doesn’t have Elena anymore to keep pursuing, so he sees it as a good opportunity to be there for Stefan. It just bugs me that it took Elena being ‘out of the picture’ for him to do it. And then we never saw Damon even live up to his promise, anyway. But on Stefan’s side, we saw him defend, make excuses for, and save Damon all the time whether Elena was there or not. No one had even heard of a cure for a werewolf bite before. There was no logical reason for Stefan to go after one or put himself in danger in doing so. He’s happy and in love with Elena and she in love with him, but at the end of it all he still sacrificed her and himself for Damon. He could have let Damon die and live happily with Elena and this is what I’m talking about. True sacrifice. True fucking sacrifice. And Damon has yet to move me with any of his own where his brother is concerned. So this just doesn’t feel right. Sorry.
'The urge to feed has settled… I'm not hungry anymore. Whatever monster I was capable of being… I could see why I was different around you.’
I had to repost this scene. I didn’t realise how powerful it actually was and considering it was so early on in the season i.e. into hers and Damon’s relationship, I believe, quite frankly it’s pretty promising. I don’t care what anyone says, without doubt, within this moment she completely loses herself in him, for that brief moment, it’s as if she’s conflicted, you can still feel something between them. It’s so visible the disappointment that washes over her, when she realises she can’t go there and that this isn’t the choice she chose. That she went with possibly the worst choice she will ever make. This scene, in itself, is ‘hope’.
