'El Fogon de Los Arrieros'
Aldo Boglietti started building his modernist house in sleepy Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina in 1955 and established it as the Fogon de Los Arrieros, an arts centre come public living room in 1968. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the late '50's and '60's' the Fogon hosted avantgarde artists, writers, dancers and musicians, as well as parties, perfectly capturing and perhaps even presaging the effervescence unleashed worldwide in 1960's. Originally from Rosario, Aldo and his brother Efrain were art loving entrepreneurs. When they moved to Resistencia as tinned tomato salesmen in the 1940s they saw the town as a blank canvas. As well as setting up the Fogon Aldo was the man responsible for the amazing amount of public art that lines Resistencia's streets and plazas. He prodded the authorities into adorning the streets and convinced local businessmen to buy art and share it with the public. Aldo, Efrain and Aldo's partner, Hilda Torres Varela, ran the Fogon until 2002. It is now run by a board of directors but is no longer the all hours extended lounge it once was. You can find the house at Alimirante Brown 350, Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina. https://m.facebook.com/elfogondelosarrieros?id=237335072948282&refsrc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com.ar%2F&_rdr
