Yugi and Atem as Spirit Tracks Link and Zelda

The newly crowned King of Hyrule, Atem grows suspicious of his uncle Aknadin when he finds himself being treated more as a figurehead than a leader. Further digging leads him to discover that his uncle is planning something regarding the millenium items, a set of magical items his family has used in the past to defend their country from otherworldly beings. Atem manages to hide six of the seven millenium items, but cannot get the millenium eye that Aknadin possesses. He soon finds himself locked in house arrest and unable to escape on his own.

Yugi is a train engineer who's newly graduated, and during the royal ceremony, is asked in secret by the king for help escaping the palace. Yugi agrees and the two of them manage to escape the capital, secretly gathering the millenium items as they do. Before they can get too far from the capital they get stopped by the train being overturned. They were stopped by Aknadin and a big hulking beast.

It's then revealed that Aknadin was merely a shell of his former self, driven mad and controlled by the powerful demon Zorc who intended to use the new king to gain control of the power of the millenium items in order to become unstoppable.

Zorc attacks the two of them, knocking Yugi unconscious and tearing Atem's soul from his body in order to stop his meddling before leaving.

When Yugi comes to, he's seemingly alone, injured with an overturned train to deal with. While trying to find the first aid kit he stumbles across the bag Atem had brought with him, and finds that when he makes contact with the millenium puzzle he can suddenly hear the voice of the king. He turns around to be face to face with a ghost.

One minor freak out later the two of them work out that Yugi can wield the millenium puzzle just like Atem can, and that must be the reason they can interact now. Atem tells Yugi about the millenium items and their abilities, and asks Yugi again for his help saving Hyrule. Yugi agrees and the two of them set off across the country to find friends who can wield the millenium items in order to stop Zorc once and for all.

So unlike Yugi, Kaiba, and Bakura, there's definitely an age difference between Atem, Set, and TKB, right? Perhaps not between Set and TKB, though there's not really any proof for that statement, but Atem is definitely has to be a couple years younger than them because otherwise the manga baby doesn't make sense.

These pictures all happen on consecutive pages in the same flashback, so they should all be the same point in time.

I take back the possibility of Set and TKB being the same age, while Set looks to be 2 to maybe 4? Years old TKB looks to be 5 to around 7 if I had to guess?

Regardless of how old they actually are the definitely aren't the same age as this baby.

I brought this all up because TKB is definitely older than Atem, and I absolutely want a scene where he finds out about this after his 3,000 years of revenge are over and done with and is just trying to do the mental math to figure out if he picked a fight with a baby.

One of the reasons I find Mahad and Atem's relationship so compelling and tragic is both of them have the same problem.

Both of them are very caring people and are willing to die if it means saving those they care for. And they fight over that, because they just mean so much to each other that they can't stand seeing the other throw their life away like that.

Yet in the end it's that very thing that kills them both.

I read online that instead of actually getting married in ancient egypt you just kind of move in together?

I don't know how accurate that is but I could see that when Atem gets his own body and they have to decide where he's gonna live, he ends up getting all flustered over it.

Rishid and Mahad become friends and so do Serenity and Mana.

Rishid and Mahad's friendship comes in the form of hanging out at coffee shops, discussing what's been going on in their lives recently as well as what kind of trouble their siblings have been up to. The time they spend hanging out ends up with finding out the have a lot in common, and when Rishid goes back to Egypt they end up keeping up their tradition over the phone.

Serenity and Mana get along like a house on fire. Serenity's more gentle nature balances out with Mana's more hyper excitement and they end up becoming great friends after they meet each other. They like going to places like the beach or roller rinks just so they can goof off and have fun. They also have sleepovers every other week, and Anzu joins them sometimes.

Since I gave reIn Atem a cat I feel like I need to give Atem in the Atem Stays au a cat or four.

I'm thinking he starts feeding a stray near the game store while he works there, and the stray decides that the game store is a great place to give birth.

Yugi's mom isn't happy about that but Atem offers to do all the work to take care of them. He fully embraces cat fatherhood and by the time they're old enough to be given away Atem and the cats are too attached so they end up keeping them.

So I'm thinking of giving Atem's family the surname Seddik, which google tells me means things like loyal, devoted, and true friend which fits all of them.
