Update on why I haven't been around.

So as some of you know, I've been in pain daily at varying degrees since February. I had to leave my job because of the pain.

Recently I had an MRI and the results came back with the news that I have spinal stenosis in a few of my vertebrae, as well as bulging discs and pinched nerves.

I have an appointment coming up next week with a doctor at my local clinic and the week after with a doctor at a spine center. I'm hoping that soon, I'll have a way to treat this pain. However, until then; I doubt I'll have any muse to write with or the stamina to actually sit down and write.

Thank you all for understanding and I understand if you wish to drop threads.

Update

Still in a lot of pain. MRI on Friday so hopefully the doctors can figure out a treatment plan.

Lestat nodded at once. “I didn’t realise that you had a plane.” He said quietly, “of course we can fly howveee you feel most comfortable.”

Daniel laid down looking at Armand on the bed. He took deep breaths getting ready to die and live forever.

The plane ride was scheduled so that they would leave Dubai at night, and arrive in New Orleans just a few hours before sunrise. Once on the plane, he looked at Lestat.

"What...have you been doing since we parted ways?"

*** Armand's fangs gently sunk into Daniel's flesh, blood bursting over his tongue and causing him to moan. He was gentle as he drank from Daniel, careful to listen to his heartbeat for signs of it failing.

When it grew slow, he bit into his own wrist to feed Daniel from himself.

"Drink Daniel. Drink and become as I am."

Lestat smiled sadly. “I slept” he whispered. “I was filled with so much hopelessness at the thought you didn’t love me that I buried myself in the ground and I slept. I was awoken by the noises of this modern age and I decided to find you.”

Daniel moaned and felt his body fade into the darkness willingly. When the blood hit his tongue, it was like a burning fire. He was suddenly dying of thirst and grabbed at Armand’s wrist to drink.

"The sounds of the modern age could wake any vampire. It's so...loud. And the hum of wireless internet is a constant nuisance. It took Armand ages to deal with it."

But he shouldn't mention Armand. Yet he felt he needed to continue.

"Coming from a time of such silence as he did. I at least had the sound of automobiles and telephones. But when the airplanes got big and more frequently flying...it was hard. So much sound. And the music of today..."

He shook his head.

"Nothing like the old jazz of New Orleans."

*** Armand led Daniel feed. Let him consume until he had no choice but to pull away. He lay beside him, panting, as he watched the blood work miracles on Daniel.

While he did not appear the youth he had once been, decades had been removed from him.

"Daniel..."

He pulled his lover into his arms.

"I am right here, my dear."

"You really don't like reading, do you."

Louis chuckled softly.

"Okay. I'll read it to you. But not here. I want to go home. I want to go back to New Orleans. I...I don't want to be here anymore."

"I would be lying if I said that it didn't hurt. Your body will be dying, Daniel. There is pain in this death. But afterwards will come euphoria. And then...peace. And I will be here with you through all of it. I will not leave your side."

Lestat nodded smiling at Louis. “Then I’ll take you to New Orleans. If you are not afraid I am fly you” he whispered.

Daniel nodded squeezing his hand. “I trust you. How do you want me? Do you want me to lie down or what?”

"No. You are not flying me, Lestat. No. We'll take a plane. Armand and I keep a couple on standby. I know he took one with Daniel. But the other can be ready soon. I can't...fly that way. It gives me panic attacks. Armand tried but..."

*** "Perhaps it's best if you lay down. In my arms. I'll feed from you and then you will feed from me."

Lestat took the book and bit his lip. “Could you read it to me?” He asked quietly. “I always loved you reading to me Louis.” Lestat didn’t enjoy reading but Louis reading was wonderful.

Daniel took a deep breath and nodded. “Yes I’m ready I’m just scared.” He decided to be honest with Armand. “Will it hurt?”

Daniel smiled at Armand and kissed him again. “Alright I think I can manage that” he held Armand close to his body. “Sleeping in your arms every night would be wonderful.”

Lestat sighed. “I’m sorry Louis just…I can’t believe you’re back that I am beside you again. I want to do whatever I must for us to be together again.”

Louis knew it might take a long time for him to trust Lestat again. With the bath over, and feeling much more clean; he grabbed a book from the library before handing it to Lestat.

"It's the first in the series."

It was a gay romance set in New Orleans. Back in the 1920s. One was a vampire, the other started off human, one was black the other white. That is where the similarities stopped. In the end, the two traveled across Europe during the war, facing danger in the search for others like themselves. There was no Claudia. There was no cheating. The drama all came from outside forces. The two remained in love despite so many dangers.

Maybe it was what could have been.

Armand sunk into Daniel, enjoying behind held as the sun rose.

But hours passed, and they went about their day...and night fell. The spring time sun was finally down, and Armand was full of nervousness.

"Are you ready, Daniel?"

Daniel nodded slowly and smiled wrapping his arm around Armand. “I’m nervous about sleeping in a coffin” he confessed quietly. “It’s strange to think about waking up in one.”

“Then we don’t need to rush I just want to make you happy.” He grinned then, “I have a wedding to plan as well you deserve everything you’ve wanted.”

"You won't have to sleep in a coffin Daniel. The windows here are like those at the tower in Dubai. They block out the sun. You will be perfectly fine in a normal bed. Unless you want a coffin. In which case I can have one made for us."

*** "Lestat! Don't...rush. Okay. We still need to get to know one another again before we really consider this. Sure the stress from before will be less; but even though a lot of things were fabricated in my mind, you still cheated on me. That's a deep cut. We need to learn how to communicate properly. How to get along again."

Daniel quietly sipped his tea as the birds began to sing around them. “How long until I can sit beside you like this again? When I can go out into the sun without fear of burning like Louis did?”

Lestat laughed softly. “When have I ever been able to keep how I felt about something to you my Saint Louis?”

"It depends. I'm not sure if you would be able to right away due to my stronger blood. If it was my maker...who was born in ancient Rome, then you would surely be able to walk in the sunlight right away. It took me three hundred years before the sun no longer harmed me."

He turned his eyes to Daniel.

"It will happen some day. We will not know when. But eventually, the sun will hold no sway over you."

"Our relationship is just rekindling Lestat. I just...I don't know. For some reason what you think matters more than what Armand did."

Daniel looked around the house and tried to decide if he was ready. “I want to see the sun one more time” he told Armand. “I don’t want to forget what it looks like can you bear one more night of me being mortal?”

“You’ll have to show me what you’ve been writing” he said quietly kissing Louis again. “I love you Louis whatever you want to do I will support however I can.”

"One more sunrise. One more sunset."

He kissed Daniel's lips softly before unlocking the door and unarming the security system. For the next little while, he showed Daniel around Trinity Gate, before bringing him to the rooftop balcony where they could watch the sun rise over the city together.

He had made Daniel a cup of warm tea as the sun slowly started to rise.

*** "You want to read what I've written?"

Louis was suddenly very self concious.

"I mean...If you want too. I...I wouldn't be opposed."

He had never felt this nervousness with Armand reading his works.

Daniel watched the sun slowly rise, the sky was painted a brilliant fiery red and pink it looked beautiful. “Thank you” he said quietly to Armand. “I know this must be uncomfortable for you…I’ve never seen such a beautiful sunrise.”

“If it makes you uncomfortable” Lestat said immediately, “then I won’t I only want to support you but I won’t read it if it upsets you.”

"I enjoy the sun, Daniel. There was a long time when I could not see it. Could not feel it's warmth. Now that I am able...it is comforting. And seeing it with you...reflected in your eyes. I've never seen another quite so beautiful."

*** "It's just...weird. I didn't feel this when Armand read it. Maybe because I could read his mind and find out what he truly thought about it. But with you; I won't know if you're lying about liking it."

*** Louis chuckled softly.

"You know...now we wouldn't have to hide. Being a couple I mean. You and I. Being in love. We can be equals in all things."

Daniel felt his eyes roll backwards into his head, he moaned desperately as Armand drank from him. He couldn’t speak or think only feel the euphoric high that was already better than any drug he could find.

Lestat smiled shyly. “I could walk down the street holding your hand? I could kiss you in public? I want to love you properly Louis I mad such a mess the first time.”

By the time they had arrived in New York, they had made love several times and exchanged blood a few as well.

Trinity Gate was a massive complex made of three full brownstones that were connected. It was to be a haven for those that they were familiar with, but for most of all; Daniel.

"What do you think? Would you like to live here with me?"

Louis made a show of thinking.

"I think I could give you a second chance. Holding hands and kissing in public does sound like a wonderful thing."

Daniel was throughly exhausted. Armand had taken him in every position he could think of, he hadn’t had that much sex in a very long time. He stood beside Armand staring at his home, “I think I could you own all this? You bought this for us?”

Lestat laughed softly. “What would you do with yourself? I imagine the brothels no longer line New Orleans streets we will need to find you a new role.”

"I did, Daniel. I bought it before I erased your memories. It was still years from being completed. There was remodeling that needed to be done. It's even been updated since then so it's more modern. It has the same sort of windows as the tower in Dubai."

He led Daniel inside. The sun was just setting here in New York as it was.

"Do you want to be made tonight? Or is there a specific date you had in mind?"

"True, brothels are a thing of the past in New Orleans. I've been a writer in these modern days. I write fiction. Daniel got me interested in writing; though, he's one for truth and not fiction."

He smiled fondly.

"I've had some best sellers, though I never let my face be seen. For obvious reasons. Fans would notice I wasn't aging."

“I kept our townhouse” Lestat said quietly. “It’s still there in New Orleans if you wanted to return. I couldn’t bear to sell it or tear it down, I had to keep it incase…incase you ever loved me again.”

Armand nuzzled into Daniel's neck.

"Even with more handsome vampires out there?" He gave another hard thrust against his lover's sweet spot.

"Even if you found a mortal you wished to make a vampire? Some...young thing with pale creamy skin and blue eyes?"

*** Louis was a bit shocked to hear this.

"You kept it? Even with all the shit that went down at the end? Lestat..."

He shook his head slowly.

"You are foolishly romantic."

Lestat kissed him softly storming Louis face gently. “My Saint Louis if you wanted a ring you only needed to tell me! I will throw you the most extravagant wedding I will get you whatever ring you want!” He promised earnestly.

Daniel kissed him licking Armand’s mouth. “I love you” he whispered, “you’re mine you’re never loving anybody but me!”

"Is that so, Daniel? Do you think you can keep my interest for an eternity?"

He knew that Daniel could.

"Are you sure that I can keep yours?"

This was more what Armand worried about. There were so many other vampires out there. Who was to say that Daniel would not choose one of them over him?

*** If he could blush in his vampiric state, Louis would have.

"Now...that's just absurd. Us? Getting married?"

But could they?

"Not here in Dubai...but...maybe back in New Orleans?"

Lestat let out a small sob. “I wasn’t there to protect you protect our daughter I’m sorry I’m so sorry Louis.” He whispered, “I hate that anyone hurt you.”

Daniel moaned rocking back against Armand. The hard jab at his prostate made him moan even louder, he had never had a partner like this. Daniel had avoided too many relationships with men and he missed having a partner who knew what they were doing. “Armand!”

A tear slid down Louis' cheek upon hearing Lestat's sob. He shifted in the tub until he was closer to Lestat, resting against him.

"Did you ever cheat on me with Antionette? Or is that a fabrication too?"

He was so certain that she had come between them. That Lestat had wanted an open relationship. But had that been a lie?

*** Armand panted softly as he moved inside of his lover, lacing their fingers together as he bit his own tongue before kissing Daniel, letting him taste his blood again as they made love.

Lestat gently wrapped an arm around Louis cautiously. “I did sleep with Antoinette” he confessed, his voice was shaking now so sure Louis would demand he leave. “I…wanted to try and get you to come back to me…you were so weak from not feeding Louis…it made me so scared that I would lose you. I would do anything to bring you back…I thought you would get angry you would kill her.” He wiped his eyes, “I did everything wrong I ruined our marriage.”

Daniel drank the blood hungrily, he rocked faster and his body got stronger. He dug his fingers into Armand, thoughts a mess of how much he wanted the other man.

"You would have been better off telling me how you felt, Lestat. Rather than cheating on me. But I get it. It sucks, but I get it. And you know...you never did put a ring on it. So really, it wasn't marriage."

Was Louis suggesting that Lestat ask him properly with a ring? That they actually get married? Was he? Perhaps.

*** It became almost a frenzy, clutching at one another, moving together as they sought a release that seemed so far away.

"Daniel."

Blood dripped between their mouths. No longer bleeding, Armand lapped up the blood on Daniel's chin.

"My own."
