Today’s purchases! I am so terrible at putting on lashes. I’m determined to get it to work!
Prevent Concealer Creases!
Hello friends!
Talk about long time no post. I have no good excuses for you, so we'll pretend it didn't happen? =) So I've discovered a process that is so fantastic, I felt I had to share!
Do you find that your under eye concealer tends to crease? Do you get that annoying settling line?? I do. Particularly because I have a terribly dry and eczema-ish under eye area.
Firstly, let's address why we get those creases. Lack of HYDRATION!! No matter what, always use a moisturizer under your eyes and on your eye lids. Doesn't matter how inexpensive, or expensive it is. Some hydration is better than no hydration.
Sometimes, no matter how much we moisturize that area, we still have those fine lines. That is where a wonder product comes in! There are two products on the market that are very similar and they will both do the job. What are they, you ask? L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base and Lancôme's Effét Miracle. These products are both primers for your foundation.
If you've ever had the chance to test them and see the texture, you will notice that they are quite thick in consistency. Many people are turned off of the product because of this. However, the difference here is that the products help to perfect the "skin" and not just your foundation, which is what you see with many of the other foundation primers. If you were to apply either the L'Oreal or Lancôme primer to half of your face, you will notice they literally fill in the lines and make your skin look perfected.
The trick to using these primers is to use a little, and use your hands. The warmth from your hands and fingers will melt it into the skin. These are great for all over your face, but I have found they are FANTASTIC for the under eye area for a few reasons:
1. It helps lock in the moisturizer you applied earlier.
2. It fills in the tiny hydration lines that you may have. (I certainly do!)
3. It creates such a smooth base for your concealer that you will not see any creasing!!
Overall, you cannot go wrong with either of these products. I have had both, they are very similar, though I do lean on the Lancôme side! Either way, your concealer woes should be gone and your face will thank you too!

what is a good pencil liner that i can put on my eyelid and tightline?
Hey thanks for the question!
I personally use any kohl liner and dip in into Clinique's Brush on Cream Liner (a gel liner) and then I use it on my waterline, and tight line. This particular gel liner is the MOST waterproof I have ever found. The kohl pencil just acts as a tool to put the gel on the tight line and waterline. I've never used anything else because this works so well for me! Hope it works for you too!
GOSH BB Cream = Amazing!
I've been terrible with reviews for so long; even after promising I would not be. I am so sorry! Refer to my "coming soon" post and let me know what reviews you would like ASAP. I am even more keen to write them when someone is curious about the product! This particular product is SO GOOD I had to get the word out as quickly as possible!
I've heard many things about BB creams in the past months and I've always been curious about them. BB creams are also referred to as beauty balms or blemish balms, which are a moisturizer generally packed full of good stuff for your skin. Thus far, not many brands have had a good range of BB cream for deeper skin tones. I figure if I, as a NW35, was having issues finding a shade, there must be many others.
Have no fear, GOSH is here. I admit I did my research before buying this product because I wanted to make sure it was worth the $22 CAD that Shoppers Drug Mart has it priced at. I only saw the first four shades at Shoppers, unfortunately, but I hope that will change and they will carry "Espresso" soon. Chestnut was the appropriate shade for me.
According to my research and the claims GOSH makes, the five shades will adapt to the slight variations within each tone. It is described as a, "foundation, primer, moisturizer". The texture is gel like and I love the feel of it. A LITTLE goes SUCH a long way! I find it is a demi-matte finish and it does not budge! It is also WATERPROOF! I haven't tried it under my foundation as a primer yet, but I imagine it will be lovely! It is easily layered as well.
I wanted this product so I could have something quick to use on my days at the university without the high maintenance application of a foundation (I never apply my foundation quickly). My skin is relatively healthy and I am SO impressed with the coverage!! Way more coverage than I've seen with other BB creams. If you have some problem areas, a little concealer will do the trick!
So if you're in the market to try a BB cream, I HIGHLY suggest you try GOSH's All-In-One BB Cream. It is worth the investment for every day use and I doubt you will be disappointed!

My Favourite Foundation
Before I begin my review, let's look at what Lancome claims for Teint Miracle foundation:
Benefits
Enhances skin's natural light. The complexion appears flawless, full of life – as if lit-from-within
Bare skin sensation, correction with translucency for a natural finish, as if matter-free
18 hour hydration
Diminishes redness for a more uniform complexion
Non-irritating/doesn't cause break-outs
Protects skin from UV damage
They have much more to blurb about, but the above list is the most important part. I started using this foundation when I began working for Lancome a year ago. Ever since using it, I always get compliments about how my skin "glows" and is "radiant". At first, I wasn't sure if I liked the glowing look since I was so used to a matte finish. Using this foundation has shown me that it is much better to have a little glow and radiance than flat matte finish alone!
As for the claims, I would have to agree with them. Obviously it's fluffed up terminology to make it sound nice, but my skin does look radiant, there is very much a "bare skin" sensation as the foundation is not heavy at all, my skin never feels dry, my complexion is definitely even and I've never had break outs. As for the UV protection, I just have to take their word for it.
I highly suggest getting properly matched and asking for a foundation sample so you can try it at home. The most important part is for you to see it in natural light. I thought my shade was too yellow when I looked at it in the mall, but it is perfect in natural light (I use Bisque 9W). Every counter that sells Lancome believes in giving samples of their foundations for their customers to try, so don't be shy to ask! After application I use a translucent powder to set the foundation and I'm good for the rest of the day!

I am so excited for tomorrow! Why? I FINALLY found a place in my city that sells Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tars in store!!

I will be purchasing the following colours: (as long as they have them in stock - which I hope they do!)
• Memento (a plum toned pink)
• Demure (a deep magenta type purple)
• NSFW (Not Safe For Work) (true red)

I will write a review as soon as I test their longevity of wear and my experience with them!

Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara!
Hello! Long time no blogging! School has been super busy, and I didn't know what I should write a review on. However, I recently acquired this mascara and now have something to write about!
First of all, if you have not heard, Maybelline claims a lot when it comes to this mascara. The following are the claims they have on the packaging and website:
Build 4mm of measurable extensions!
• Fiber-fix brush has 6 different contact points with each lash for optimal fiber placement
• Breakthrough formula contains fibers up to 4mm in length
• Sealing formula stretches lashes and seals fibers to lashes
• Washable, also available in waterproof formula
I wanted to post some of the before and after photos with this mascara, but I haven't had a chance to do it yet. I will as soon as I can! Most importantly, I do think this mascara gives length. I think 4mm is a bit of a stretch though. My main issue with it, is it doesn't give any volume with the length. For me, that's important because I don't have much volume on my own.
The brush is pretty awesome. It does catch every lash. As Maybelline claims, the non-waterproof formula washes off in water, which is nice. Overall, the mascara is really nice. It separates the lashes well, adds decent length (though not 4mm, in my opinion), and washes off easily.
A little tip to try if you need more volume is: use your favourite volumizing mascara first. Build it up. Then use the Maybelline Illegal Length on top. It separates the lashes after using the volumizing mascara and it builds length on top of the other mascara. If you aren't a mascara person I know this may be too much hassle. I just don't want to waste my Illegal Length's since I need more volume too!

Highlight Your Face!
Why use a highlighter for your face? It's a legitimate question which I wondered about for a long time. I saw many reviews and tutorials on YouTube that would incorporate a highlighter into their routine. Sometimes it just made people look shiny. For me, I was against the shine. After using Benefit's Watt's Up!, I'm a highlighter fan. This post will talk about the pro's of this highlighter and how to use a highlighter, regardless of brand. After receiving a gift card for Christmas, I decided to look into a highlighter for my skin tone. For those who do not know what a highlighter is for, it is meant to highlight the higher areas of your face to give it more dimension. Just like contouring can "slim" your face and add more definition.
If you want to try highlighting without buying one, I suggest a light shimmer eyeshadow. Champagne-like colours are generally better to work with for everyone but if you have really fair skin, you can use something "whiter" and shimmery. The areas to highlight are:
1. Along your cheekbones.
2. The bridge of your nose.
3. Your cupids bow on your lips. It makes your lips look fuller.
4. Your forehead.
5. Your chin.
There are a lot of videos on YouTube to show how exactly to highlight and use a highlighter. Be careful not to use too much as it will look unnatural. Keep in mind you do not have to highlight these areas all the time if you don't want to. Often the cheekbones are all you really need. I only do all areas when I am going out or have time to do all areas when I'm going to school.
I really like Benefit's Watt's Up! because it is a champagne colour that works for all skin tones. They describe it as "soft focus" and it really is! It is not obvious but gives a beautiful glow to the skin. It comes in stick form and goes from cream to powder. You can see on the bottom of the tube, there is a little sponge to help smudge the highlighter out. I tried it. I don't care much for it. For one, it is not hygienic. Secondly, using your fingers to blend out the product looks and works way better. You can use the highlight over your finished foundation or before. I think because it is soft focus, using it over foundation is not too bright. I like using it that way.
Benefit's highlighters are not cheap in general. I believe this one was about $36 CAD. There is A LOT of product to use though, so you will probably have it for a long time! Make up is about trying new things and seeing what works for you and what you like! If anything, try a shimmery eyeshadow and highlight some areas of your face to see how you like it!

A really simple smokey eye I did awhile ago. Black can be hard to play with but it works out if you have the time to blend!

Loreal Voluminous Million Lashes Review
This review was requested by "fearlessbellacinderella".
Loreal's Voluminous line has always claimed to create nice thick and "voluminous" lashes, hence the name. I used to use the original Voluminous a long time ago. I can't remember much about it, so I won't make any claims.
I recently bought this mascara in waterproof from Winners as I needed a mascara to swipe on underneath my regular mascara. (Waterproof mascara in a thin coat helps hold curl in your lashes. Check my "Keeping Your Lashes Curled!" post if you're interested) Even though I did not buy this mascara to be my go to mascara, I tried it alone with two coats to see how voluminous it could really be.
My lashes are pretty long on their own and tend to get clumpy when I use a volumizing mascara. This mascara is really great against clumping. It is very defining and separates the lashes quite well. The issue is, it doesn't do what it claims to do. I got NO volume from this mascara. Like none, whatsoever. It just defined my lashes and caught all the little ones, but did not add volume in the slightest. So if you're looking for volume, this mascara is probably not the one for you.
On the plus side, Loreal claims a "no mess" wand with this mascara. When you pull the wand from the tube, you won't have any excess on the tip. It does this very well. I wish all mascara's had this feature since it's nice and clean!
Overall, this mascara is really nice for defining your lashes and getting every little lash but it is not good for volume. Obviously, my opinion my not hold true for everyone, but I really don't see how this particular brush can create a lot of volume. I hope this is helpful in your hunt for mascara! Thank you "fearlessbellacinderella" for the request!

Best Top Coat in the WORLD!!
This post may not be about a make up item, but nails are sometimes part of the ensemble! Besides, this product is too good not to share! The top coat is "Seche Vite". I believe it's pronounced "Sesh Veet".
If you look this up on YouTube, you will find tons of reviews on this top coat. After hearing about it from one of the beauty guru's I watch, I decided that I had to get it. I bought my first one at the Sally's Beauty store in my city, which is also where you can buy it online. You can also often find this at Winner's, as I have many times.
There are a few amazing things about this top coat. The first thing is the dry time. After you apply the nail polish of your choice and wait about one minute, you can apply the Seche Vite top coat. One coat is just as a effective as two, so no need to waste more product. You will find that by the time you are done the last nail on your hand, the first nail you applied top coat to will be dry to touch. All the nails become dry to touch in one minute. It is hard to believe, I know, but it really is true. I've been using this as my top coat for about a year now and I'm still amazed every time I use it. Your polish will be dry completely through in FIVE minutes. Just five…which is unbelievable. I believe there is an ingredient that helps to penetrate through the layers of nail polish and dry everything so it adheres to the nail bed. It's amazing stuff.
The other amazing thing about Seche Vite top coat is the "life" it will give your manicure. Generally, I am able to get about TWO WEEKS out of my manicures when I use Seche Vite. When you think about it, that's pretty crazy. If the nail polish you are using is also good for long wear, you may get past two weeks.
Seche Vite also provides a nice glossy finish to your manicure. It also has this effect where it almost enhances the color of the nail polish and makes it more vibrant, which is a great plus!
There is one drawback to using Seche Vite top coat. I admit it may not work for everyone, but it has worked amazingly for myself and a few of my friends and family that I've suggested it to. However that's not the issue. The problem with Seche Vite is after you reach about half way into the bottle, you notice the texture of the top coat starts to thicken and becomes difficult to use. For this reason, you must have "Seche Restore" to help revive the balance in the top coat. It's a nail polish thinner, but it is specially formulated for Seche Vite. I strongly suggest you use Seche Restore only and no nail polish remover or other nail polish thinners. It will ruin the Seche Vite. I get my Seche Restore on 8ty8beauty.com.
Other than this relatively small hiccup, Seche Vite is definitely my holy grail top coat. Say good bye to wait times, chips, dents, and pillow prints! Hopefully, you will find success with this top coat too!

Lip Color That Lasts!!
Have you ever tried semi-permanent lip color? There are many different kinds and brands on the market which all have the same claim to fame: Long wearing lip color that will not budge. However, we often find many of these claims have the "BUT-clause": "It's great and lasts long, BUT..". After trying many different brands over the years, I have found the best semi-permanent lip color on the market!
Maybelline's SuperStay 24Hr Lip Color is the best long wearing lip color I have EVER tried. Their previous formulas were decent, but like other brands, the lip color would dry out and would peel off in the later hours of the day. They were also quite thick in formula prior to their new one.
The SuperStay 24Hr Lip Color is different than previous formulas and other brands because it actually is a light-weight formula. This is beneficial because you will feel like you have nothing on your lips! Obviously, the other difference in this lip color is the wear time. I have used different shades of it for several months and have tested it in almost every condition. I believe the longest I have worn this lip color was about 18hrs if not more. The color did not peel or budge, regardless of eating and drinking. Another great thing about it, is you rarely have to use the moisturizing balm. I found I could go for several hours without using the balm. Licking your lips every so often (which is a natural process throughout the day) moisturizes your lips enough and doesn't cause the color to peel.
Overall, the Maybelline SuperStay 24Hr Lip Color is my Holy Grail lip color when I'm in need of something for long wear. It's great on a day to day basis since you just apply it once at the beginning of the day and go! I'll never try another semi-permanent lip color ever again! Hopefully you will find success with this lip color as well! It often goes on sale in drugstores, which is a great way to try it.
